Reservation systems vary by property type. For Kiptopeke State Park, reservations are made through reservevaparks.com or by calling 1-800-933-PARK. Campsite reservations open 11 months in advance and must be made at least one day before arrival, and all sites are now site-specific. Private campgrounds including Virginia Landing RV Campground, Sun Outdoors Cape Charles, Cape Charles / Chesapeake Bay KOA Resort, and Sun Retreats Gwynn's Island are booked directly through each operator's website or reservation line. Waterfront and full-hookup pull-through sites at private resorts tend to sell out first for holiday weekends. Kiptopeke's cancellation policy provides no refund within 14 days before the reserved date, with a cancellation fee applying before that window. Private operators enforce their own deposit and cancellation terms, so review each policy at booking.
