Campgrounds and RV parks near Ames Lake, WA

Snoqualmie Falls, a 268-foot waterfall about 15 minutes southeast, is the headline attraction and has free viewing platforms plus a lower river trail. Lake Sammamish State Park, off I-90 at Exit 15, has two swimming beaches, paved trails, and a salmon-bearing creek, with seasonal kayak and paddleboard rentals at Tibbetts Beach. The park sits within easy reach of Issaquah Village RV Park and Vasa Park Resort. Hikers can pick from Rattlesnake Ledge, Mount Si, Little Si, and the Tiger Mountain trail network, all within a 30-minute drive. The Snoqualmie Valley Trail runs through Carnation for cycling and walking, and the Snoqualmie River draws anglers and tubers in summer. Families staying at Tall Chief RV Resort are close to Remlinger Farms and the Carnation Farm grounds.

The Ames Lake area follows a classic Puget Sound pattern: cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers. From November through February, rain is frequent and trails turn muddy, but private RV parks like Tall Chief RV Resort, Issaquah Village RV Park, and Trailer Inns RV Park stay open year-round and rarely fill on weekdays. Snow is uncommon at valley elevations but possible, and Snoqualmie Pass on I-90 can require chains. Spring brings longer days, blooming foothills, and rising rivers from snowmelt. May through mid-June is a good window for hiking before peak crowds arrive. Summer, roughly July through early September, is the busiest stretch: warm, dry, and reliably sunny, with lake swimming at Vasa Park Resort and Lake Sammamish at its best. Weekend sites at popular parks book out weeks ahead, and seasonal amenities such as pools and waterfront rentals typically run on a Memorial Day through Labor Day schedule. Fall cools quickly after mid-September, with strong color along the Snoqualmie River corridor and far easier reservations midweek.

Most parks near Ames Lake have paved or gravel pads, picnic tables, and fire rings, with 30- and 50-amp service at Issaquah Village RV Park, Tall Chief RV Resort, and Trailer Inns RV Park. Tall Chief RV Resort does not offer in-site sewer hookups and relies on a central dump station or scheduled honey wagon service. Vasa Park Resort offers waterfront sites with 30-amp power on Lake Sammamish. Cell service is reliable at the Issaquah and Bellevue parks and patchy in the forested sections closer to Fall City. Expect tall conifers, occasional deer, and quiet residential surroundings. Big rigs are accommodated at most parks, but pull-throughs are limited at the smaller urban sites, so confirm rig length when booking.
