Campgrounds and RV parks near Barberton, WA

The Columbia River Gorge is the region's headline attraction. Beacon Rock State Park sits in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area and covers 4,458 acres with 9,500 feet of Columbia River shoreline and more than 26 miles of roads and trails open to hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian use. The summit trail climbs Beacon Rock in about 1.7 miles via a series of switchbacks built into the rock face. Closer in, the paved Waterfront Renaissance Trail follows the Columbia River, connecting downtown Vancouver with multiple parks along a five-mile route anchored by the Grant Street Pier. Moulton Falls Regional Park, east of Battle Ground in Yacolt, has a 2.5-mile trail connecting to Lucia Falls Regional Park and a picturesque arch bridge over the East Fork Lewis River. Families can also visit Bonneville Lock and Dam for the visitor center and fish ladder viewing station.

Summer is the busiest RV season. July through September offers the best weather for visiting the area, with July and August the driest and warmest months and daytime highs in the upper 70s. Book state-park sites well ahead: peak season from mid-May to mid-September draws the largest crowds, especially over weekends and when temperatures rise. September holds most of the summer warmth with fewer visitors, making it a strong shoulder-season target. Spring brings variable weather. March is one of the rainiest months of the year, while May is noticeably drier and often sunny, with daytime temperatures climbing from the mid-50s in March to the mid-60s by May. Wildflowers on Gorge trails such as Dog Mountain and Catherine Creek typically peak in April and May. Fall and winter stay open but shift rainy. The Vancouver area averages roughly 163 days per year with measurable precipitation, concentrated in the fall and winter months, and receives about 42 inches of rain annually. At Beacon Rock, the main upper campground closes seasonally while the Woodard Creek RV loop stays open year-round; Battle Ground Lake operates its campground year-round.

Expect a mix of suburban and forested settings. Barberton itself is residential, so RV parks in the immediate area sit near shopping, hospitals, and highway access rather than in wilderness. Clark County is a Zone 1 (high) county on the EPA radon map, which is worth noting for travelers considering longer stays in fixed structures rather than RVs. Rig size and hookups vary. Beacon Rock's Woodard Creek Campground has five full-hookup sites accommodating RVs up to 40 feet, while Battle Ground Lake accommodates RVs up to 35 feet with six electric-hookup sites and a dump station. Confirm length limits and hookup type before arrival, especially for larger fifth wheels and Class A rigs. Washington experiences an active wildfire season roughly between July and October, so check for burn bans and air-quality alerts during summer trips.
