Campgrounds and RV parks near Bethel, WA

Bethel sits on the Kitsap Peninsula in western Washington, a short drive from Port Orchard and across Puget Sound from Seattle. The area gives RV travelers quick access to saltwater state parks, working state forests, and private RV resorts, all within about 30 minutes of town. Ferry connections at Bremerton and Southworth make it a practical base for exploring both the Olympic Peninsula and the Seattle metro without long freeway drives. The closest public campgrounds are run by Washington State Parks and the Washington Department of Natural Resources. Manchester State Park is a 111-acre camping park with 3,400 feet of saltwater shoreline on Rich Passage in Puget Sound, and Illahee State Park is a 75-acre marine camping park with 1,785 feet of saltwater frontage on Port Orchard Bay. Green Mountain Horse Camp sits inland in Green Mountain State Forest, a DNR-managed working forest on the peninsula. Private options such as Gig Harbor RV Resort and Cedar Glen RV Park fill in the gaps for travelers who want full hookups or a quieter stay year-round.

Washington State Parks handles reservations for Manchester and Illahee through its central system, bookable online at parks.wa.gov or by phone at 888-226-7688. Sites can be reserved up to nine months in advance of the arrival date. Popular summer weekends typically sell out on the nine-month rolling window, so setting a reminder for the release date is worthwhile. A Discover Pass is required for vehicle access at DNR-managed lands, which include 80 first-come, first-served campgrounds statewide. Green Mountain Horse Camp is one of these first-come sites, with 16 campsites and no reservation option; plan to arrive early on weekends during its Memorial Day to Labor Day season. Private resorts such as Gig Harbor RV Resort and Cedar Glen RV Park take direct bookings through their own websites or by phone.
