Campgrounds and RV parks near Burien, WA

Burien sits on Puget Sound just south of Seattle and immediately west of Sea-Tac International Airport, putting RV travelers within a short drive of several Washington State Parks with saltwater shoreline and forested campgrounds. The area works well as a base for exploring the central Puget Sound region, including Seattle, Tacoma, and the Kitsap Peninsula by ferry. The closest state park options sit along the Sound between Seattle and Tacoma. Saltwater State Park is a 137-acre park roughly two miles from Interstate 5, with forested sites along McSorley Creek, tide pools, and driftwood shoreline, though the campground is currently closed for planning work related to flooding and erosion. Dash Point State Park covers 461 acres with 3,301 feet of saltwater shoreline and unobstructed Puget Sound views, and it is known for skimboarding on its sandy beach. For RV travelers wanting hookups closer to the metro core, Trailer Inns RV Park in Bellevue is a full-service option east of Seattle. Across the Sound on the Kitsap Peninsula, Manchester State Park offers a quieter forested campground, while Vasa Park Resort sits on Lake Sammamish east of Bellevue for those preferring a lakefront setting.

Washington State Parks reservations can be made online at washington.goingtocamp.com or by calling 888-226-7688. Reservations open up to nine months in advance of the arrival date, and because the popular Puget Sound parks are close to two urban hubs, sites fill quickly, so booking early is important for summer weekends. Rules vary by park. At Manchester State Park, reservations can be made nine months in advance for the May 15 to September 15 window, with sites first-come, first-served from September 16 to May 14. A Discover Pass is required for vehicle day-use access at Washington state parks. Private options such as Trailer Inns RV Park and Vasa Park Resort book directly through the operator and typically accept shorter lead times.
