Campgrounds and RV parks near Hockinson, WA

Hockinson is a rural community in Clark County, Washington, roughly 12 miles northeast of Vancouver and within easy reach of Portland, Oregon. The area sits in the western foothills of the Cascade Range, surrounded by working forest, small farms, and the lakes and streams that drain toward the Columbia. RV travelers use Hockinson as a base for southwest Washington trips that combine forest camping with day runs into Portland or out to the Columbia River Gorge. The closest developed campground is Battle Ground Lake State Park, a 280-acre park in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains built around a lake of volcanic origin. Rock Creek Horse Camp, run by the Washington Department of Natural Resources, lies northeast of town inside the Yacolt Burn State Forest and serves equestrian and tent campers willing to give up hookups. For full-hookup RV stays, Vancouver Mall RV Park, Vancouver RV Park, and Clark County Fairgrounds RV Park and Storage sit closer to I-5 and I-205, putting groceries, fuel, and dump stations within a short drive of the trip's outdoor anchors.

Battle Ground Lake State Park sites are reserved through the Washington State Parks system. Reservations can be made up to nine months in advance of the first date of your trip. Make peak-season reservations as soon as dates are firm, or arrive early midweek to grab any unreserved sites. Bookings go through the state's online portal or by phone at 888-CAMPOUT (888-226-7688). A Discover Pass is required for day-use vehicles, though it is included with overnight camping fees. Rock Creek Horse Camp works differently. No reservations. First come first served. Rock Creek DNR Horse Camp is a no-fee campground and a DNR Discover Pass is required. Vancouver Mall RV Park, Vancouver RV Park, and Clark County Fairgrounds RV Park and Storage take direct bookings through their own websites or phone lines, with the fairgrounds property sometimes filling during event weekends.
