The pier and beach are the main draws at Kayak Point Regional County Park. Visitors fish and crab off the pier (when in season and during daylight hours), scan the water for seals, porpoises, and gray whales, and watch bald eagles overhead. The 3,300 feet of public shoreline is open for beachcombing, kite flying, kayaking, windsurfing, and scuba diving, and a boat launch handles trailered craft. On land, a disc golf course occupies the former golf-course site, and short trails and stairs connect the campground loop to the day-use area. Day trips reach Camano Island State Park and the connected Cama Beach Historical State Park, where a one-mile trail links the two parks and the Lowell Point area offers a kitchen shelter and views across Saratoga Passage to Whidbey Island.

The Kayak Point county campground is open year-round, with the yurts especially popular in the cooler months because they offer heat and electricity. Water to the campsites and campground restrooms remains available through the winter, though the day-use restrooms close from October through April and portable toilets are placed in their stead. The floating dock is also removed during that window. Camano Island State Park operates differently. The lower loop is open year-round and the upper loop runs from May through September. Reservations are required from mid-May through mid-September; outside that window, lower-loop sites switch to first-come, first-served. The five forest cabins are bookable year-round with a two-night minimum, and they fill far in advance, even midweek. Summer is the peak window for beach use, crabbing, and Saturday interpretive programs at Camano Island, while shoulder seasons bring quieter sites, wetter trails, and a higher chance of fog over Port Susan. Winter is mild but persistently rainy, with November typically the wettest month.

The Kayak Point county campground is a single wooded loop on a hill above the beach, with 30 partial-utility sites (water and power) and ten yurts. There is no sewer hookup at the sites and no dump station in the park, so RV travellers should plan to dump elsewhere; campers with a Kayak Point pass can use the dump station at Wenberg County Park a few miles up the road. Campground restrooms have flush toilets and token-operated hot showers. Sites are large and wooded with good privacy, but several cannot accommodate larger rigs, so verify pad size before booking. A day-use renovation project limits vehicle access to the beach and boat launch into the early summer; the campground stays open, with foot access to the shoreline by a steep trail.
