Campgrounds near Lacey, Washington
Lacey sits in Thurston County at the south end of Puget Sound, immediately east of Olympia and roughly an hour south of Seattle on Interstate 5. The location puts RV travelers within reach of saltwater inlets, the Nisqually River delta, Capitol State Forest, and day-trip access to Mount Rainier National Park's Nisqually entrance, which stays open year-round.
The closest private RV options cluster along the I-5 corridor. WA Land Yacht Harbor RV Park and Event Center and Olympia Campground and Fuel sit nearest to town, with full-hookup sites that suit larger rigs. South of the city, Offut Lake Resort, Riverbend Campground, and American Heritage Campgrounds offer lake or riverside settings with hookups for RVs.
State-park camping rounds out the area. Washington State Parks operates Millersylvania to the south and other lakeside and waterfront parks within an hour's drive, with reservations handled through the state's central system.
Things to do near Lacey
Outdoor activity in the Lacey area centers on water and forest. The Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge sits minutes from town with boardwalk trails through tidal estuary, and the Chehalis Western Trail runs north-south through Lacey for cycling and walking. Capitol State Forest, southwest of Olympia, offers mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding on a large network of trails.
For day trips, Mount Rainier National Park is roughly two hours east via the Nisqually entrance, which remains open through winter. Mount St. Helens lies about two hours south. Closer in, Tolmie State Park provides saltwater beach access for low-tide exploring, and Offut Lake and the Deschutes River support fishing and paddling.

The Lacey area has a wet, mild winter and a short, dry summer. Olympia averages roughly 50 inches of precipitation a year, with most of it falling between November and February. Snow is uncommon and usually light, but freezing nights occur and some private campgrounds reduce services in the off-season.
Spring brings longer days and gradually drying weather, though showers remain frequent through May. Summer is the prime camping window: July and August are reliably warm and dry, with daytime highs in the mid-70s Fahrenheit and very little rain. Wildfire restrictions can be in effect across Washington during this period, so checking burn rules before lighting a fire is important.
Fall transitions quickly. September is often a good shoulder-season pick with mild temperatures and lighter crowds, but rainfall ramps up sharply through October and peaks in November. RV travelers visiting outside summer should plan for layered clothing, rain gear, and shorter daylight.

Really great RV that was easy to drive and worked really well. Lots of space with the pop out, AC blows cold and the heating is warm. Was very comfortable the whole time. Steve the host is great and took the time to show me how everything worked in detail and had me completely comfortable to go on my trip. Can’t recommend this rental enough. Thank you.

We had such a great weekend camping in the Memory Maker! Danielle has thought of everything when it comes to making life easy while you are “roughing it”. We felt cozy and comfortable sleeping as a family of 5. It was easy to pull behind our Tahoe as well. Great experience all around, we already have our next trip booked!

Danielle is a great host! The trailer was wonderfully laid out and perfect for a family of four. It was very clean and everything worked perfectly! Our family had a great time and would definitely rent from Danielle again!

How to book Lacey campgrounds
Private parks around Lacey, including WA Land Yacht Harbor RV Park and Event Center, Olympia Campground and Fuel, Offut Lake Resort, Riverbend Campground, and American Heritage Campgrounds, take reservations directly through their websites or by phone. Summer weekends fill early, so booking several months ahead is recommended for July and August.
Washington State Parks campsites are reserved through the state system at washington.goingtocamp.com or by calling 888-CAMPOUT. Reservations can be made up to nine months in advance of the first night of a trip, and same-day bookings are accepted online until 2 p.m. on the arrival date.
A Discover Pass is required for day-use parking at Washington State Parks, Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Department of Natural Resources lands.
What to expect at Lacey campgrounds
Most developed RV parks in the Lacey area offer 30 and 50 amp service, water, and sewer, with many sites built to accommodate big rigs. Tree cover is heavy across western Washington, so satellite reception and solar charging can be limited at forested sites. Cell coverage along the I-5 corridor is strong; it weakens quickly in Capitol State Forest and on routes toward Mount Rainier.
Quiet hours, leash rules, and a maximum of eight people per site apply at Washington State Parks. Dump stations are widely available at private parks and most state-park campgrounds.
Weather drives a lot of trip-planning decisions here. Sites near rivers and lakes can be soft and muddy outside summer, and waterfront sites often have less tree cover and more wind exposure than interior loops.
