Campgrounds and RV parks near Lake Bosworth, WA

Lake Bosworth is stocked with rainbow trout and is a quiet paddling lake, with a WDFW boat launch on the northeast side. Motor limits favor kayaks, canoes, small fishing boats, and paddleboards over larger powerboats. The Mountain Loop Highway runs east from Granite Falls and opens up the classic day hikes of the western Cascades. Mount Pilchuck State Park is the headline destination: a 2.7-mile trail climbs roughly 2,300 feet through forest and shale fields to a historic fire lookout with 360-degree views of Mount Baker, Mount Shuksan, Mount Rainier, and the Olympics. Heather Lake, Lake 22, and Big Four Ice Caves are shorter, family-friendly trails along the same corridor. Closer in, the Centennial Trail is a paved rail-trail route good for biking with kids, and the South Fork Stillaguamish River offers fishing access at several pullouts.

The prime RV window runs late June through mid-September. Lowland trails are dry, the Mountain Loop Highway is fully open, and daytime highs sit in the low 70s Fahrenheit. July and August are the driest months of the year and also the busiest, so private resorts near Granite Falls fill weekends well in advance. Wildfire smoke can drift into the region in late summer, and burn bans on state and federal land are routine from July onward. Spring is green and wet. Lower-elevation hikes and the lake itself are accessible by April, but the trail to the top of Mount Pilchuck is usually covered with snow until early to midsummer, and the access road to the Mount Pilchuck trailhead is closed by the U.S. Forest Service during off-season winter months past the Heather Lake Trailhead. Fall brings fewer crowds and strong trout fishing but rising rainfall. Winters are mild at lake elevation, cold and snowy above 2,000 feet, and many seasonal campgrounds close from October or November until spring.

This is western Washington rainforest country. Expect tall second-growth Douglas fir, moss, and soft ground, so bring leveling blocks and be ready for damp sites even in summer. Cell coverage is reliable in Granite Falls and thins quickly east of Verlot along the Mountain Loop Highway. Road access to the lake is via narrow two-lane county roads with tight turns; large Class A rigs and long fifth-wheels should plan routes carefully and avoid the unpaved Mount Pilchuck access road, which is best driven with some high clearance and has many potholes and is unsuitable for RVs. Park at Verlot or a private resort and use a tow vehicle for the trailhead. Black bears are active in the surrounding forest, so use bear-aware food storage. Mosquitoes peak in early summer near standing water, and most trailheads require a Northwest Forest Pass or a Discover Pass depending on jurisdiction.
