Campgrounds and RV parks near Lake Goodwin, WA

The lake itself is the main draw. Renters swim, paddle, and fish for trout and bass, with public shore access at Wenberg County Park on the eastern shore, which offers a swim beach, boat launch, and 1,140 feet of freshwater shoreline. Boat launches let RV travellers put in kayaks, small runabouts, or paddleboards, and lakeside campgrounds like Cedar Grove Shores RV Park and Lake Goodwin Resort provide direct water access. Off the water, Camano Island State Park is the standout day trip. Four miles of trails loop through the forest, and a one-mile trail leads to Cama Beach Historical State Park. Outdoor activities include beach combing, fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming, sailing, crabbing, hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing. Stanwood and the Skagit Valley add tulip fields in spring, farm stands in summer, and quick access to the North Cascades for longer drives.

Summer is the clear peak. June through early September brings the driest weather of the year, warm lake temperatures, and long daylight hours. Private lakeside parks fill quickly on weekends, and reservations are needed for campsites at Camano Island State Park during the peak season from mid-May to mid-September, with first-come first-served access during the off-season. Book several weeks out for July and August stays. Spring and fall are quieter shoulder seasons. Expect cool, showery days interspersed with clear stretches, fewer crowds, and easier last-minute bookings. Tulip season in the nearby Skagit Valley brings a surge of day-trip traffic in April, so plan arrivals accordingly. Winter camping is possible but limited. The lower loop at Camano Island State Park stays open year-round while the upper loop, including pull-through sites better suited for RVs, operates May through September. Wenberg County Park also stays open, though after Labor Day the park begins winterization with water shut off, restrooms and dump station closed, and only self-contained units allowed.

Lake Goodwin is a small, developed recreational lake, not a wilderness destination. Expect residential shoreline, active boat traffic on summer weekends, and family-oriented private campgrounds with playgrounds, docks, and camp stores. Cell coverage is generally reliable, and grocery stores, fuel, and dump stations are available in Stanwood and Marysville. Sites at older lakeside parks can be tight; big rigs should confirm length and slide clearance before booking. Camano Island State Park is a classic Pacific Northwest forest campground with drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, an RV dump station, and firewood available for sale from the camp host, though hookups are limited. Firewood can be purchased from the camp host or grocery stores on Camano Island, and only wood sourced from western Washington should be used to help protect forests from invasive insects. Bring layers year-round and rain gear outside of midsummer.
