Campgrounds near Lexington, Washington
Lexington is an unincorporated community in Cowlitz County, just north of Longview and Kelso along Interstate 5. It sits within easy reach of the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, making it a practical staging point for RV travelers heading east on State Route 504 toward Silver Lake, Coldwater Lake, and the western approach to the volcano.
Options near town range from full-service private parks to a forested state park. Brookhollow RV Park and Longview North / Mount St Helens KOA Journey both provide interstate-adjacent RV sites, while Toutle River RV Resort and Paradise Cove Resort and RV Park cluster near Castle Rock at I-5 Exit 52, closer to the volcano access road. Seaquest State Park, roughly six miles east of Castle Rock on Highway 504, adds a forested public-lands option with hookups and yurts.
Most trips combine an I-5 basecamp with day drives up the Spirit Lake Memorial Highway toward the western viewpoints and interpretive centers.
Things to do near Lexington
The main draw is Mount St. Helens itself. From the west side, the Spirit Lake Memorial Highway climbs from Castle Rock past Silver Lake to viewpoints and trailheads. Johnston Ridge Observatory has been closed since a May 2023 landslide destroyed the Spirit Lake Outlet Bridge, and current agency timelines target a spring 2027 reopening. In the meantime, the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center at Silver Lake, the Forest Learning Center, and the Coldwater Lake area remain open.
Seaquest State Park is connected to the visitor center by a pedestrian tunnel and offers more than 12 miles of hiking trails plus a boardwalk over the Silver Lake wetlands. Anglers target the Cowlitz and Toutle rivers near Castle Rock, and families can swim, paddle, or fish on Silver Lake. Coldwater Lake, farther up SR 504, adds kayaking and shoreline trails.

The Lexington area follows a Pacific Northwest pattern with warm, dry summers and wet, mild winters. Most travelers visit Mount St. Helens between mid-May and October, when seasonal upper-elevation facilities and most nearby campgrounds are fully open. Summer campers should still expect cool nighttime lows and pack rain gear year-round.
Spring brings wildflower blooms at lower elevations and lingering snow on higher trails. Many Gifford Pinchot National Forest campgrounds east and south of the monument operate only from roughly late spring through mid-October, so early-season and late-fall trips are best staged from lower-elevation private parks or Seaquest State Park, which camps year-round.
Winter visitors should prepare for possible snow and ice on the upper reaches of SR 504, saturated ground, and short daylight. Wildfire season typically runs mid-summer through early fall, and burn bans are common, so check Washington State Parks alerts and Department of Natural Resources fire-danger updates before lighting a fire.

Had a very good time on this RV! Recommend to anyone!
Kirill V. - Jan 2026
I am so happy that we chose to rent from Andrey. We went on a 13 day trip with our 3 small kids, when we picked the RV up it was IMMACULATE. So clean, smelled amazing, and fully stocked with everything we could have needed. Even down to camp chairs for our kids. We had zero issues with it on our long trip, communication with the host was amazing, and I could not recommend him enough. Best experience ever!

I would rate my experience with Paige as a 10/10. Good communication and everything was as promised. The trailer was clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed. We did experience an unexpected problem with the trailer during our trip, but Paige handled it perfectly to ensure our trip continued seamlessly without interruption and without inconveniencing my wife and I. I definitely recommend working with Paige.

Paige was so well prepared and helpful in our renting experience with her. The RV was fantastic for our needs.

How to book near Lexington
Seaquest State Park reservations are handled through the Washington State Parks system online at parks.wa.gov or by phone at 888-CAMPOUT (888-226-7688). The reservation window opens roughly nine months ahead of arrival, and summer weekends fill quickly, so book as soon as the window opens. A Discover Pass is required for day-use parking. Yurts and the group camp are reserved through the same system.
Private parks including Brookhollow RV Park, Longview North / Mount St Helens KOA Journey, Toutle River RV Resort, and Paradise Cove Resort and RV Park take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. KOA sites can also be booked through the KOA app or koa.com.
What to expect near Lexington
Sites in this corridor tend to be gravel pads with full or partial hookups at the private parks, and a mix of standard, partial, and full hookups at Seaquest State Park, which can accommodate rigs up to 50 feet in limited spots. Cell coverage along I-5 is generally solid, though it drops off as you climb SR 504 toward the monument.
Proximity to I-5 and the parallel BNSF rail line means some road and train noise at freeway-adjacent parks. Seaquest sits back in forest but is within earshot of Highway 504.
Stock up on groceries, fuel, and propane in Longview, Kelso, or Castle Rock before heading up the highway; services thin out quickly beyond Silver Lake.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Lexington, WA?
RV rental in Lexington, WA is more affordable than you might think, especially compared to bigger Pacific Northwest hubs like Seattle or Portland. On RVezy, motorhomes near the Longview/Lexington area average around $200 per night, while towable trailers (travel trailers and fifth wheels) average closer to $120 per night. Many hosts also offer weekly and monthly discounts, so a 7-day Mount St. Helens trip can be a real bargain. Pro tip: bundling delivery with a longer stay often saves more than chasing the lowest nightly rate.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lexington%2C%20WAWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Lexington, WA?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Lexington, WA. Washington State does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes, travel trailers, or fifth wheels under typical recreational weights. You'll just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the platform before your trip. Visiting from overseas? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto association before you fly in, usually for under $25. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple it is, so once you find a rig you love near Lexington, you're really just a few clicks from the open road toward Mount St. Helens.
dol.wa.gov/driver-licenses-and-permits/driver-licensesIs my RV rental in Lexington, WA covered by protection and roadside assistance?
Yes, every RV rental in Lexington, WA booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can focus on the scenery instead of the what-ifs. The protection plan covers damage to the vehicle during your trip, giving you real peace of mind whether you're parked at Seaquest State Park or winding up Spirit Lake Highway. During checkout, you (not the host) choose your protection level, so you can match coverage to your trip and budget. It's the kind of safety net that turns a first-time motorhome rental Lexington adventure into a relaxed getaway.

Because Pacific Northwest weather can shift quickly, this flexibility is a real comfort when planning an RV camping Lexington getaway. The full, up-to-date details live on the RVezy Help Center, and our customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip to walk you through any change.

parks.wa.gov/know-before-you-go/rules-and-policies/pets-state-parksCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Lexington, WA?

Many hosts will deliver and set up your RV at a campground like Seaquest State Park, Mount St. Helens / Toutle River KOA Holiday, or even your friend's driveway in Kelso. They'll level the rig, hook up power and water, and walk you through the propane, slide-outs, and waste system so you feel confident from minute one. Just use the Delivery filter when you search, and message the host with your destination so they can quote a delivery fee. It's the easiest way to start an RV camping Lexington trip.

parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/seaquest-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip in Lexington, WA?
The sweet spot for a Lexington, WA RV trip is mid-June through mid-September, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit and Mount St. Helens is fully open with all viewpoint roads clear of snow. July and August are the driest months in the Lower Cowlitz Valley, which is a treat in a region known for rain. Shoulder seasons (May and late September into October) bring fall colors along the Columbia and significantly lower campground prices, with temperatures still in the 60s. Winters are mild but wet, with lows in the high 30s, so RVing is absolutely doable year-round if you want misty, uncrowded forests. Pro tip: book July weekends at Seaquest State Park six months ahead.
weather.gov/pqr/I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay driving around Lexington, WA?
You'll be in great shape, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, leveling, hookups, propane, slide-outs, and the waste system, so you're never tossed the keys and left guessing. Lexington itself sits on flat ground near the Cowlitz River, and Interstate 5 through Cowlitz County is wide, straight, and easy on a motorhome rental Lexington beginner. If the idea of driving still feels big, just filter for hosts offering delivery, and they'll bring the rig right to your campsite. Pro tip: do a quick parking-lot practice loop in Kelso before heading toward Mount St. Helens.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if my RV breaks down during my Lexington, WA trip?
Take a deep breath, you're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat on Highway 504 heading up to Johnston Ridge Observatory or your battery dies at Silver Lake, one phone call gets help dispatched. Common services include tire changes, jump-starts, lockout help, fuel delivery, and towing to a qualified repair shop. Your host is also just a message away and often knows the closest reliable RV service center in Longview or Kelso. Pro tip: snap a photo of your RV's license plate and VIN at pickup and save the roadside number in your phone, so you're not fumbling for info when you need it.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Lexington, WA RV rental into Oregon or Canada?
Crossing into Oregon is easy, the Lewis and Clark Bridge over the Columbia River sits just minutes from Lexington and is a popular gateway for renters heading to Astoria, Cannon Beach, or the Columbia River Gorge. Multi-state travel within the US is generally allowed, and many hosts welcome it. Heading to Canada is sometimes possible depending on the host and insurance, so message the owner directly through the listing page before booking to confirm. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: Oregon has no sales tax, so plan a grocery or supply run on the south side of the bridge.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Lexington, WA RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest line on an RV trip budget, so it pays to plan. Class C motorhomes around Lexington typically average 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans land closer to 18 to 22 mpg, and a truck pulling a travel trailer falls in the 10 to 14 mpg range. Washington gas prices tend to run above the national average, so many renters fuel up just across the bridge in Rainier, Oregon, where prices are often lower and there's no sales tax. For a typical 4-day Mount St. Helens loop (around 250 miles), budget $90 to $180 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: most stations along I-5 in Kelso accommodate big rigs easily.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Lexington, WA?
For summer weekends at popular Washington State Parks like Seaquest, book as soon as the reservation window opens, which is up to nine months out through the official Washington State Parks reservation system. Private parks like Mount St. Helens / Toutle River KOA Holiday and Columbia Riverfront RV Park typically allow bookings 12 months in advance and fill quickly for July and August. For shoulder-season trips (May, late September, October), 4 to 6 weeks ahead is usually plenty. Mid-week stays are far easier to land last minute. Pro tip: if Seaquest is full, check Lewis and Clark State Park about 30 minutes north, it often has openings and offers towering old-growth forest sites that feel a world away.
parks.wa.gov/make-reservationWhat are the local driving conditions like around Lexington, WA?
Driving an RV around Lexington is genuinely beginner-friendly. Interstate 5 runs flat and wide right past town, the Allen Street Bridge connects Lexington to Longview easily, and most local routes are well-maintained two-lane roads. Heading up to Mount St. Helens on State Route 504 (Spirit Lake Memorial Highway) involves some long uphill climbs and curves, so take it easy and use lower gears on descents. Fog can settle in the Cowlitz River valley on fall and winter mornings, and rain is common October through May, so allow extra braking distance. Snow at higher elevations near Mount St. Helens can linger into June. Pro tip: check WSDOT's real-time travel alerts before heading to Johnston Ridge, especially for early-season trips.
wsdot.com/travel/real-time/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Lexington, WA?

Mount St. Helens / Toutle River KOA Holiday and Columbia Riverfront RV Park provide full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry, and dump stations. Seaquest State Park offers utility sites with water and electric plus a centralized dump station near the entrance. Most Washington State Parks have potable water fills and dump stations included with your camping fee, which is great for tank management on longer trips. Cell service is solid along the I-5 corridor but can drop on Spirit Lake Highway. Pro tip: top off freshwater at Seaquest before heading up to Mount St. Helens, water access is limited at higher viewpoints.

Most Class C motorhomes and travel trailers include a wet bath with toilet and shower, roof air conditioning, and a furnace for chilly Cascade nights. Many rigs add a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor speakers, and a generator or solar setup for boondocking. Wi-Fi varies by host (some include mobile hotspots). Every motorhome has full seatbelts for travel. Pro tip: review the listing's amenity icons and message your host to confirm linens, towels, and a starter kit are included.

Mileage policies vary, with daily allowances typically running 100 to 150 miles or unlimited on select listings. Always check the listing's add-on menu and confirm the fee structure with the host before booking. Pro tip: bundling a generator plus a kayak rack is a game-changer for boondocking and paddling Silver Lake.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lexington%2C%20WAHow does payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental in Lexington, WA?
Payment is straightforward and secure: you pay through RVezy at the time of booking using a major credit or debit card, never directly to the host. Your total includes the nightly rate, host-set fees (cleaning, delivery, add-ons), taxes, and your chosen protection plan. A refundable security deposit is held (not charged) on your card around the start of the trip, separate from your booking payment. Return the rig clean, with the right fuel and propane levels, and tanks emptied per the host's instructions, and the hold drops off automatically. Pro tip: do a thorough photo walkaround at both pickup and drop-off and share the images in the RVezy app to keep everything documented and stress-free.
