RV camping near Mount Vista, Washington
Mount Vista is a census-designated place in southwestern Clark County, about 9 miles north of downtown Vancouver, and sits just east of Interstate 5. The location puts RV travelers within easy reach of the Portland metro area to the south, the Columbia River waterfront, and the wooded foothills that lead toward Mount St. Helens and the Cascades to the east.
Most RV parks serving the area are clustered around Vancouver and along the I-5 and I-205 corridors rather than in Mount Vista itself. Closest options include Clark County Fairgrounds RV Park and Storage in Ridgefield, Vancouver RV Park and Vancouver Mall RV Park in Vancouver, and Jantzen Beach RV Park and Columbia River RV Park just across the river in Portland. These parks function primarily as full-hookup base camps for exploring the region rather than backcountry destinations.
Expect a mix of long-stay residents and short-term travelers at most sites, with paved interior roads, laundry, and Wi-Fi common. Reservations are strongly recommended in summer, when demand from Columbia River Gorge and Mount St. Helens visitors peaks.
Things to do near Mount Vista
The Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge sits less than 20 miles north of Vancouver and preserves marshes, grasslands, and woodlands across two publicly accessible units. The River S Unit Auto Tour Route is a 4.2-mile gravel loop, primarily one-way, that is open to vehicles daily from sunrise to sunset year-round, with pedestrian access permitted only from May 1 through September 30.
Fort Vancouver National Historic Site preserves the Hudson's Bay Company fur-trading post and the historic Vancouver Barracks along the Columbia. To the east, the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area offers waterfalls, hiking, and viewpoints within an easy day trip.
Families with kids can add Moulton Falls Park north of Vancouver, with its arched bridge and twin waterfalls, plus paddling on Lake River and Vancouver Lake.

Vancouver has a mild, four-season climate with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters. Summer highs average in the upper 70s, with July and August being the driest months. Winters are cool but rarely harsh, snow is uncommon, and extended cold snaps are unusual. Spring and fall bring most of the rain, though showers tend to be light rather than heavy. Summer is the clear peak booking season, and campgrounds along I-5 and the Columbia River fill weeks in advance around holiday weekends.
Shoulder seasons offer different advantages. September carries summer warmth well into the fall with mild highs and relatively few rainy days, making it a strong choice for cooler nights and thinner crowds. Late spring dries out steadily after a wet March and April.
Winter travel is workable for RVs with proper insulation. Migratory ducks, geese, and swans are abundant at Ridgefield from fall through early spring, and wildlife viewing is strong once summer visitors are gone. Expect gray skies, persistent drizzle, and occasional lowland snow events that rarely accumulate.

Had a very good time on this RV! Recommend to anyone!
Kirill V. - Jan 2026
I am so happy that we chose to rent from Andrey. We went on a 13 day trip with our 3 small kids, when we picked the RV up it was IMMACULATE. So clean, smelled amazing, and fully stocked with everything we could have needed. Even down to camp chairs for our kids. We had zero issues with it on our long trip, communication with the host was amazing, and I could not recommend him enough. Best experience ever!

Booking and reservations
Private RV parks near Mount Vista, including Clark County Fairgrounds RV Park and Storage, Vancouver RV Park, Vancouver Mall RV Park, Jantzen Beach RV Park, and Columbia River RV Park, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Book summer stays several weeks ahead, and expect fair or event weekends at the Clark County Fairgrounds to affect availability at the on-site park.
Washington State Parks in the region, such as Battle Ground Lake and Paradise Point, use the Washington State Parks reservation system, which opens sites on a rolling nine-month window. Oregon State Parks across the river use a separate reservation system with a six-month window.
Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge charges a daily entrance fee that admits everyone in a private vehicle, with youth 15 and under always free, and it can be covered by a valid federal Interagency pass. The refuge does not offer camping.
What to expect on the ground
Private parks near Mount Vista tend to be paved, tightly spaced, and oriented to full-hookup travelers rather than tenters. Big-rig access is generally straightforward from I-5 and I-205, though some older Portland-side properties have tight interior turns. Freeway noise is a factor at parks close to the interstates and at Jantzen Beach RV Park on Hayden Island.
Cell coverage and Wi-Fi are reliable across the metro area. Grocery, propane, and RV service options are widely available in Vancouver and Salmon Creek, and dump stations are standard at the listed parks.
Expect damp ground and mossy pads outside the summer dry window. Bring rain gear, quick-dry outdoor mats, and shoes suitable for muddy trails if visiting Ridgefield or the Gorge in the wet season.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Mount Vista, WA?
RV rental in Mount Vista is affordable compared to big-city rates in nearby Portland or Seattle. Expect roughly $90 to $175 per night for a travel trailer, $150 to $275 for a Class C motorhome, and $80 to $150 for a campervan, with prices dipping in the rainy shoulder seasons of October through April. Because Mount Vista sits just off Interstate 5 in Clark County, you have access to dozens of nearby hosts, which keeps cheap RV rental Mount Vista options realistic. Pro tip: book Sunday through Thursday nights and message a few hosts about multi-night discounts. Many owners offer 10 to 15 percent off weekly stays, a smart way to stretch your Mount Vista RV trip budget.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mount%20Vista%2C%20WashingtonDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Mount Vista, Washington?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Mount Vista, WA. Washington does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for motorhomes, travel trailers, or campervans available on RVezy. You'll need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license, and an International Driving Permit if your license is not in English. Once your booking is confirmed, your host walks you through every system at pickup, so even a first-time driver leaves feeling confident behind the wheel.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection or coverage is included with my Mount Vista RV rental?
Every RV rental in Mount Vista booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included, so you can hit Interstate 5 with real peace of mind. During checkout, you choose the level of coverage that fits your trip, from standard to premium options that cover physical damage to the vehicle. You, not the host, choose the coverage tier, which means you stay in control of your protection. Pair that with around-the-clock roadside help, and a flat tire on Highway 503 becomes a quick phone call, not a trip-ender on your way to Mount St. Helens or the Columbia River Gorge.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Mount Vista RV trip?
Booking an RV rental in Mount Vista is low-risk because RVezy, not individual hosts, sets the cancellation policy across the platform. There's a money-back grace period right after you book, so if plans change quickly you're protected. After that, refunds depend on how far out you are from your trip start date, and RVezy also has provisions for unexpected events like wildfires or severe weather, which occasionally affect Pacific Northwest travel. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best rigs near WSU Vancouver and Interstate 5, then keep an eye on Gifford Pinchot wildfire updates in late summer. Full details live in the RVezy Help Center, where customer support is available before, during, and after every trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Mount Vista?
Absolutely, and Mount Vista is a great launch pad for a dog-friendly road trip. Many hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental Mount Vista options, and you can filter listings using the Pet-Friendly toggle on RVezy to see them instantly. Once you're booked, your pup will love nearby Salmon Creek Regional Park's leashed trails, and Battle Ground Lake State Park (about 20 minutes northeast) has dog-friendly loop trails through Douglas fir forest where pets are welcome on leash. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet rules, mention your dog's size and breed, and ask if they include a pet kit. A polite heads-up almost always gets a warm welcome.
parks.wa.gov/know-before-you-go/pets-state-parksCan the RV be delivered to me in Mount Vista?
Yes, RV delivery Mount Vista is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who don't want to drive a big rig through Vancouver or onto Interstate 5. Many local hosts will deliver the RV directly to your campsite at Battle Ground Lake State Park, Paradise Point State Park, or even your driveway in the Salmon Creek or Felida area. They'll level it, hook up power and water, walk you through the systems, and pick it up when your trip ends. Delivery fees are typically based on round-trip mileage from the host's location. Pro tip: bundle delivery with a stationary stay at a full-hookup park, and you get a stress-free Mount Vista RV trip with zero driving required.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/paradise-point-state-parkHow far can I drive on an RV road trip from Mount Vista?
You're in a sweet spot for an RV road trip from Mount Vista. Within a 90-minute drive you can reach Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument (about 55 miles northeast via Highway 503), the Columbia River Gorge and Multnomah Falls (about 40 miles east on I-84), and downtown Portland (about 15 miles south). Stretch a little farther and Mount Rainier is roughly 150 miles north, the Oregon Coast at Cannon Beach is about 95 miles west, and Mount Hood sits about 80 miles southeast. Hosts set their own mileage policies, with many offering 100 to 150 free miles per night and some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage. Pro tip: map your route before booking and ask hosts for unlimited-mileage quotes on longer trips.
fs.usda.gov/giffordpinchotWhere are the best campgrounds near Mount Vista for RV camping?

Battle Ground Lake State Park (about 12 miles northeast) has standard sites plus a handful of partial-hookup sites set around a spring-fed volcanic crater lake. Paradise Point State Park, just 10 miles north off Interstate 5, offers riverside camping along the East Fork Lewis River. Vancouver RV Park, about 9 miles south, delivers full hookups and long pull-throughs. For something rustic, Sunset Falls Campground in Gifford Pinchot National Forest is about 35 miles east. Pro tip: state parks book up months ahead for summer weekends, so reserve through the Washington State Parks system as soon as your dates are set.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/battle-ground-lake-state-parkWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Mount Vista?
The sweet spot for an RV trip from Mount Vista is mid-June through mid-September, when daytime highs typically range from the mid-70s to low-80s F and July is the driest month of the year. Late May and September are the smart-money shoulder seasons: prices drop, campgrounds open up at Battle Ground Lake and Paradise Point, and you still get pleasant days in the 65 to 75 F range. Winters are mild but wet, with December highs around the mid-40s F and frequent rain, which actually makes for cozy, crowd-free getaways to the Columbia River Gorge. Pro tip: book your motorhome rental Mount Vista by February for July and August dates, when local demand peaks.
weather.gov/pqr/I've never driven an RV before, is renting in Mount Vista a good idea?
Mount Vista is one of the friendliest places in the Pacific Northwest for first time renting an RV. The area sits in flat, suburban Clark County just off Interstate 5, with wide roads and easy on-ramps, and you're not dealing with downtown Seattle or Portland traffic at pickup. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering propane, slide-outs, the dump valve, the generator, and braking. Many also offer delivery so your first time behind the wheel can be on a quiet campground road, not the freeway. Pro tip: ask your host about a campervan or Class C under 25 feet for your first trip, they handle almost like a large van and make the drive to Battle Ground Lake genuinely relaxing.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something breaks down during my Mount Vista RV trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a dead battery on Highway 503 or a flat tire near Mount St. Helens is one phone call away from help. Common issues like jump-starts, tire changes, lockouts, and towing are covered. Your host is also typically just a text away for questions about the rig's specific systems, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before you leave the host's driveway in Mount Vista, and snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN and license plate. You'll have everything you need in seconds if you ever do need to call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Mount Vista RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, most hosts welcome cross-state travel, and Mount Vista is perfectly positioned for it. Portland, Oregon is about 15 minutes south across the I-5 Bridge, and a Columbia River Gorge or Oregon Coast loop is one of the most popular routes out of here. Trips into Idaho, California, and British Columbia are generally fine too, but message the host through the listing before booking to confirm and update insurance details. One important note: travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: if you're eyeing a Vancouver, BC loop, ask your host early since cross-border arrangements can take time. Bring your passport or enhanced driver's license.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Mount Vista RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable expense, so plan ahead. Most Class C motorhomes around Mount Vista get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class B campervans typically deliver 16 to 20 MPG, and truck-and-trailer combos average 10 to 14 MPG. Washington gas prices tend to run higher than the national average, so check current rates before you go. A 200-mile round trip to Mount St. Helens in a Class C can run roughly $80 to $120 in fuel depending on prices. Pro tip: fill up just across the river in Oregon where prices are sometimes lower and an attendant pumps for you, then return to Mount Vista with a full tank.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Mount Vista?
For summer weekends, book your campground as soon as you book the RV, ideally six to nine months ahead. Washington State Parks like Battle Ground Lake and Paradise Point use the Washington State Parks reservation system and open bookings nine months in advance to the day, with the popular hookup sites snapped up within minutes for July and August Saturdays. Federal sites like Sunset Falls in Gifford Pinchot National Forest book through Recreation.gov on a six-month rolling window. Private parks such as Vancouver RV Park usually have more flexibility and can sometimes be booked a few weeks out. Pro tip: set a calendar alert for 7:00 AM Pacific on your nine-month-out date, log in early, and you'll often score the prime waterfront spot at Battle Ground Lake.
recreation.gov/What are local driving conditions like around Mount Vista?
Driving an RV around Mount Vista is genuinely manageable. The community sits right off Interstate 5 near NE 99th Street, about 9 miles north of downtown Vancouver, on flat to gently rolling terrain. I-5 traffic does back up southbound toward the Portland bridge during weekday rush hours of about 7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6 PM, so plan pickups outside those windows. Heading east on Highway 503 toward Mount St. Helens, you'll climb into the foothills with some curves but no extreme grades. Winter brings rain more than snow at low elevations, but mountain passes can get icy from November to March. Pro tip: check WSDOT real-time travel cameras before heading toward the Gorge or Mount Rainier, conditions change quickly in the Cascades.

Battle Ground Lake State Park has restrooms with hot showers, an RV dump station, drinking water, and six sites with 20 and 30-amp electrical hookups (no sewer at site). Vancouver RV Park offers full hookups including 50-amp service, Wi-Fi, laundry, and pull-throughs up to 52 feet. Paradise Point has a dump station and water fill, with standard and utility sites. For free in-town dumping, the City of Vancouver and several gas stations along I-5 have RV dump stations, and most full-hookup parks allow paid use even if you're not staying. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank before heading to state parks, since spigots can be a walk from your site.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/battle-ground-lake-state-parkWhat features and amenities come with a typical Mount Vista RV rental?
Most RV rentals in Mount Vista are well-equipped for a comfortable Pacific Northwest trip. Expect a queen or king bed, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, an enclosed bathroom with shower and toilet, roof or dash air conditioning, propane furnace, and seatbelts for everyone riding. Many Class C and Class A motorhomes also include onboard generators, outdoor awnings, and flat-screen TVs. Wi-Fi varies, so if you need to work on the road, message the host and ask about mobile hotspots since cell service can dip near Mount St. Helens and parts of the Columbia Gorge. Pro tip: most listings include detailed amenity lists with photos. Filter for the must-haves like generator or pet-friendly before browsing to save scrolling time.
fcc.gov/consumers/guides/wireless-internet-serviceWhat add-ons and extras can I get with my Mount Vista RV rental?
RVezy hosts in Mount Vista offer all kinds of useful add-ons to make your trip easier. Common extras include camping chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits with pots and dishes, bikes, kayaks, BBQ grills, generator use, and propane refills. Many hosts also offer delivery and setup, dump-and-refill service at trip end so you don't have to handle the tanks, and pet packages. Mileage policies vary by host, typically 100 to 150 free miles per night with overage charged per mile, though some offer unlimited mileage. Pickup and dropoff usually happen at the host's home in the Mount Vista or Salmon Creek area. Pro tip: ask for the dump-and-refill add-on, it's often the best value extra you'll book.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mount%20Vista%2C%20WashingtonHow does payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental in Mount Vista?
Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform. You pay the rental cost, protection plan, and any add-ons by credit or debit card when you book, with no cash changing hands at pickup. A security deposit hold is placed on your card before your trip begins, with the amount depending on the rig's value and your chosen protection level. The hold is released after your trip ends, assuming the RV is returned on time, clean, with a full fuel tank, and without damage. Pro tip: walk around the RV with your host at both pickup and return, take dated photos and video of every side, the interior, and the odometer, and you'll have zero surprises when that deposit comes back to your card.
