Campgrounds near Normandy Park
Normandy Park sits on Puget Sound between Seattle and Tacoma in south King County, giving RV travelers access to a cluster of shoreline campgrounds off Interstate 5. The closest option, Saltwater State Park, is a Washington State Parks property in adjacent Des Moines with a forested setting along McSorley Creek and a saltwater beach. Note that the Saltwater campground has been closed while the agency evaluates flooding and erosion impacts, so campers should check park alerts before planning a stay. A few miles south in Federal Way, Dash Point State Park offers a larger, year-round campground with standard and utility sites plus rental cabins.
For RVers who want full hookups closer to the freeway, Majestic Manor RV Park and Trailer Inns RV Park are private parks serving the greater Seattle-Tacoma corridor. Manchester State Park, reached by ferry or a drive around the south Sound, adds a Kitsap Peninsula option with partial-hookup sites and views across Rich Passage.
Together these campgrounds cover the range most RVers need: beachfront state parks with limited services, full-hookup private parks, and a quieter Kitsap alternative for travelers willing to cross the Sound.
Things to do near Normandy Park
The main draw is Puget Sound itself. Saltwater State Park features tide pools, a driftwood-strewn shore, and an underwater artificial reef used by scuba divers, making it the only Washington state park with a designated dive reef. Dash Point State Park adds roughly 11 miles of hiking trails plus about 8 miles of mountain-biking paths, with beach access below a wooded bluff.
Between Seattle and Tacoma, Dash Point has year-round tent and RV sites, and the beach is the star, with osprey, heron, and bald eagles overhead. Manchester State Park, on the site of the former Middle Point Military Reservation, lets visitors explore coastal-artillery remnants including Battery Mitchell and a brick torpedo warehouse from 1901.
Seattle attractions, Sea-Tac Airport, and the Tacoma waterfront are all within a short drive, making day trips from any of these campgrounds easy.

Puget Sound campgrounds run on different schedules. Summer is peak season: dry weather, long daylight, and warmer water make July and August the busiest months. Weekends fill quickly, so book early. Saltwater State Park's campground is currently closed while Washington State Parks evaluates flooding and erosion in the campground area, so campers should confirm status on the park's alerts page before relying on it.
Shoulder seasons trade crowds for rain. Spring brings unpredictable weather and cool nights, while fall is quieter but wetter as Pacific storms return. Thanks to the region's generally mild climate, camping is possible any time of year at Dash Point if visitors are prepared for the conditions.
Winter is the slow season. At Manchester State Park, reservations are available April 1 through October 31, and sites operate first-come, first-served during winter months. Dash Point stays open year-round with standard and utility sites; utility sites offer hookups while standard sites do not.

We had such a great weekend camping in the Memory Maker! Danielle has thought of everything when it comes to making life easy while you are “roughing it”. We felt cozy and comfortable sleeping as a family of 5. It was easy to pull behind our Tahoe as well. Great experience all around, we already have our next trip booked!

Danielle is a great host! The trailer was wonderfully laid out and perfect for a family of four. It was very clean and everything worked perfectly! Our family had a great time and would definitely rent from Danielle again!

How to book
Washington State Parks handles reservations for Dash Point and Manchester through a single online system at washington.goingtocamp.com, with phone reservations also available. Because Saltwater State Park's campground is currently closed for evaluation, its future reservation status should be verified through the park agency before planning. Weekend sites at Dash Point through summer typically go fast once the booking window opens.
All Washington state parks require a Discover Pass for vehicle entry, available as an annual or daily permit. Registered campers do not need a separate Discover Pass while staying at a site. Private parks such as Majestic Manor RV Park and Trailer Inns RV Park book directly through the operator, typically by phone or through their own website, and generally offer full hookups and pull-throughs suited to larger rigs.
Check rig-length limits before booking. State-park sites vary from short back-ins to a few longer pull-throughs, and listed lengths do not always reflect turning clearance.
What to expect on site
The Puget Sound state parks trade amenities for setting. Saltwater State Park's campground remains closed for planning work related to flooding and erosion; when operating, its wooded sites along McSorley Creek offer restrooms, showers, and a dump station, but no individual hookups. Expect frequent aircraft noise across the area: the park lies under Sea-Tac's flight path, and planes are audible through the evening.
Dash Point offers 114 standard campsites and 27 utility sites accommodating RVs up to 40 feet, plus rental cabins and a group camp with a large communal fire ring. The campground has one dump station, four restrooms, and six showers, and sites are wooded.
Manchester State Park has 35 standard campsites and 15 partial-hookup sites with electric and water, a dump station near the entrance, and restrooms with showers on each loop. Private RV parks in the area typically offer full hookups, laundry, and easier access for larger rigs.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Normandy%20Park%2C%20WashingtonWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Normandy Park?
Good news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Normandy Park, WA. Washington State does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for motorhomes and trailers under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every rental on RVezy. Approved drivers must generally be 25 or older, and you'll verify your identity through the RVezy platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto club before your trip and pair it with your home license. That's it, you're ready to hit the road toward Mount Rainier.

During checkout you'll choose from multiple protection plan tiers, so you can select the level of coverage that gives you the most peace of mind for your trip. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Normandy Park RV trip?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy applies a consistent cancellation policy across the platform, so you're not at the mercy of individual host rules. There's a grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund, and refund eligibility after that depends on how far out from your trip start date you cancel. If a host needs to cancel, RVezy helps guests with refunds or travel credits. If plans change, just open your RVezy account or contact support, and the team will walk you through your options. That flexibility makes it easy to lock in your dates now.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Normandy Park RV rental?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Normandy Park is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search and you'll see every motorhome and trailer that welcomes furry copilots. Many hosts charge a small pet fee (typically $25 to $75 per stay) to cover extra cleaning. Once you're set, you've got great dog-friendly options nearby: Marvista Park right in Normandy Park has shaded trails through second-growth forest, Dash Point State Park (about 8 miles south) allows leashed dogs on the beach, and the Burien Dog Park is just minutes north. Pro tip: pack a towel for sandy Puget Sound paws.
parks.wa.gov/know-before-you-go/pets-parksCan the RV be delivered to me in Normandy Park?
Yes, RV delivery in Normandy Park is a popular option and a lifesaver for first-time renters. Many RVezy hosts will drop the rig directly at your campground, driveway, or near SeaTac Airport (just minutes east), then level it, hook it up, and walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see which hosts offer it and view their delivery radius. Delivery fees are set by the host and often calculated per mile from their home base. It's the smoothest way to start a motorhome rental in Normandy Park, especially if you're flying in and want the RV waiting at Saltwater State Park.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Normandy%20Park%2C%20WashingtonHow far can I travel from Normandy Park on an RV trip?
You can go just about anywhere in the Pacific Northwest from here. Popular drives include Mount Rainier National Park (about 90 miles southeast), Olympic National Park's Hurricane Ridge (about 110 miles plus a ferry from Edmonds or Seattle), Leavenworth's Bavarian village (about 135 miles east over Stevens Pass), and the North Cascades (about 140 miles northeast). Many hosts on RVezy offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, while others include a set number of free miles per night with a small per-mile fee beyond that. Filter by mileage policy or message the host directly to confirm. Pro tip: for an RV road trip from Normandy Park, plan a loop through Mount Rainier and the Columbia River Gorge to maximize variety.
nps.gov/mora/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Normandy Park?
You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Normandy Park include Saltwater State Park in Des Moines (about 3 miles south, with waterfront campsites along Puget Sound), Dash Point State Park in Federal Way (about 8 miles south, with forested sites and beach access), Seattle/Tacoma KOA Journey in Kent (about 12 miles east, full hookups and a pool), Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell (about 25 miles north, full hookups under tall cedars), and Vasa Park Resort on Lake Sammamish (about 20 miles east). For RV camping in Normandy Park trips, Saltwater State Park is the local favorite, you can practically smell the salt air from your picnic table.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/saltwater-state-parkWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Normandy Park?
July through early September is peak season here and for good reason: highs sit in the mid-70s to low 80s with mostly dry, sunny days. June and late September are smart shoulder months, with cooler temps in the 60s and 70s, lower rental rates, and fewer crowds at popular spots like Mount Rainier. Late spring (May) brings blooming rhododendrons, but bring layers, mornings can dip into the 40s. Winter rentals are available too, with mild, rainy 40s-degree weather rather than deep snow at sea level. Pro tip: book a campervan rental in Normandy Park for late August or early September to catch the Washington State Fair in nearby Puyallup.
weather.gov/sew/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
You'll do great, and you're not on your own. First time renting an RV is one of the most common scenarios on RVezy, and every booking includes a hands-on orientation from your host at pickup. They'll show you how to operate the water system, propane, generator, slide-outs, and dump valves, plus answer every question. Most first-timers choose a Class C motorhome or campervan for easier handling. Stick to slower routes for your first day, the short drive from Normandy Park to Saltwater State Park is a perfect warm-up. Save your host's number, they're a text away during your trip if anything comes up.
wsdot.com/travel/real-timeWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
Take a deep breath, you're covered. Every RV rental in Normandy Park booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan. That means if you get a flat on Highway 410 heading to Mount Rainier, lock the keys inside at Dash Point, or have a battery issue at the coast, one phone call dispatches help, no scrambling to find a tow truck on your own. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after every trip. Your host is typically just a text away too. The system is designed so a hiccup never derails your Washington adventure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my RV from Normandy Park into Canada?
Yes, cross-border road trips are one of the perks of renting here. Vancouver, BC is about 145 miles north and a popular destination for RV trips from Normandy Park. You'll need to message your specific host through the RVezy messaging system before booking, since cross-border travel must be approved by the owner and confirmed with insurance for Canada. Bring your passport, your rental agreement, and a host-signed travel authorization letter for the border. Heads up: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. For a great Pacific Northwest experience, plan a US-side loop through the San Juan Islands ferries instead.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on my Normandy Park RV trip?
Fuel is one of the biggest variables, but it's manageable with a quick estimate. Gas prices in the Seattle area typically run higher than the US average. Class C motorhomes average about 8 to 12 MPG, campervans 16 to 22 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG combined). A weekend trip to Mount Rainier (about 200 miles round trip) in a Class C will run roughly $80 to $110 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Tukwila or Kent before heading east, prices often drop noticeably outside the immediate SeaTac airport area.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Normandy Park?
For peak summer (July and August), book your campsites 6 to 9 months ahead. Washington State Parks like Saltwater and Dash Point release reservations 9 months in advance and the popular waterfront sites disappear within minutes. Use Washington State Parks' reservation system for state campgrounds and Recreation.gov for federal sites like Mount Rainier and Olympic National Park. For shoulder season (May, June, September), 4 to 6 weeks is usually fine. Private RV parks like Seattle/Tacoma KOA take reservations year-round and often have last-minute availability. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for the 9-month booking window opening date for summer weekend sites.
washington.goingtocamp.com/What are the driving conditions like around Normandy Park?
Driving here is friendlier than most big-city metros, but a few local tips help. Normandy Park sits between I-5 and Highway 509, both flat and easy for RVs. Avoid I-5 through downtown Seattle between 7 to 9 AM and 3 to 6 PM, traffic gets heavy and lane widths feel tighter in a motorhome. Use Highway 18 east to bypass Seattle when heading to the Cascades. Winter mountain passes (Snoqualmie, Stevens, White) sometimes require chains from November to March, check WSDOT pass reports before you go. The drive to Mount Rainier on Highway 410 has scenic switchbacks, take it slow and use lower gears on descents. At sea level, rain is far more common than snow.
wsdot.com/travel/real-time/mountainpassesWhere can I dump tanks and fill fresh water near Normandy Park?
You've got several convenient options within about 15 minutes. Seattle/Tacoma KOA in Kent offers a public dump station and potable water fill for a small fee. Saltwater State Park in Des Moines has a seasonal dump station available to campers. Dash Point State Park also has a dump station for registered overnight guests. Most full-hookup sites at private parks include sewer at your spot, so you can skip the dump station entirely. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank at your host's home before pickup, then plan one mid-trip dump and refill if you're staying more than 4 nights. Best campgrounds near Normandy Park almost all offer this on-site.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/dash-point-state-parkWhat amenities come standard in a Normandy Park RV rental?
You'll be surprised how well-equipped these rigs are. Most RV rentals in Normandy Park include a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, queen or king bed, dinette that converts to extra sleeping, air conditioning, propane furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many also have a generator, awning, outdoor speakers, and a flat-screen TV. Wi-Fi varies, some hosts include a mobile hotspot, others suggest you bring your own. Each listing on RVezy shows a full amenity list and sleeps count. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps 6 or Sleeps 8 if you're planning a family RV trip in Normandy Park to make sure everyone has a real bed.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Normandy%20Park%2C%20WashingtonWhat add-ons can I get with my RV rental in Normandy Park?
Hosts love making your trip easy. Popular add-ons include camping kitchen kits (pots, pans, utensils, around $25 to $50), linens and bedding packages ($25 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor tables, portable grills, generators, bike racks, and even kayak or paddleboard rentals, perfect for nearby Angle Lake. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Normandy Park, and many offer delivery for a per-mile fee. Pickup and drop-off windows vary by host, but most are flexible if you ask. Mileage policies vary too, RV rental with unlimited mileage is offered by some hosts; others include a set number of free miles per night.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Normandy%20Park%2C%20WashingtonHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card at booking, no cash or off-platform transactions. Your rental total is typically split, a portion at booking and the balance closer to your trip start date. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment and is released after drop-off, assuming no damage or policy violations. To keep things smooth, do a thorough walk-around with your host at pickup, take date-stamped photos and video, follow the mileage and generator policies, and return the RV clean with tanks dumped if required. That's how smooth rentals stay smooth.
