Campgrounds near Parkwood
Parkwood sits on the Kitsap Peninsula in western Washington, on a finger of land between Sinclair Inlet and the broader Puget Sound. RV travelers use it as a quiet base for exploring Bremerton, Port Orchard, Gig Harbor, and the ferry routes to Seattle and Bainbridge Island. Sites within a short drive include both Washington State Parks campgrounds and private RV resorts with full hookups.
Illahee State Park and Manchester State Park bracket the area to the north and east. Both sit on Puget Sound shoreline and are managed through the Washington State Parks reservation system. Private options such as Cedar Glen RV Park, Eagle Tree RV Park, and Gig Harbor RV Resort fill the gap for travelers who want full hookups, longer rigs, laundry, and Wi-Fi.
Most campgrounds in the area are wooded with Douglas fir and maple. Expect tight, tree-lined sites at the state parks and more open, terraced pads at the private resorts. A Discover Pass is required for day-use parking at Washington state parks; the camping fee covers the pass on the night of your stay.
Things to do near Parkwood
Water access drives most trips. Illahee State Park has a pier, a moorage dock, and shoreline used for crabbing, clam digging, oyster harvesting, and fishing during open seasons. A state shellfish or fishing license is required. Manchester State Park offers more than 3,400 feet of saltwater shoreline on Rich Passage, with wooded trails and views across to Bainbridge Island.
History sits alongside the recreation. Illahee preserves a veterans memorial with two five-inch naval guns from the USS West Virginia and a stand of old-growth timber, including ancient Pacific yew. Manchester is built on the former Middle Point Military Reservation, with a preserved 1901 brick Torpedo Warehouse, a mining casemate, and the remains of Battery Mitchell on site.
Off-park options include the Bremerton waterfront and ferry terminal, downtown Gig Harbor's shops and waterfront walk, and day trips toward Mount Rainier or the Olympic Peninsula.

Peak season runs from late June through Labor Day. This is the dry stretch of the year, with warm afternoons, cool nights, and the lightest rainfall. Reservations at Illahee and Manchester fill quickly for summer weekends and should be booked as early as the Washington State Parks window allows.
Manchester State Park uses a split season. Individual campsites are reservable from April 1 through October 31; outside that window the campground operates first-come, first-served, with some loops closed for winter. Illahee State Park accepts campsite reservations year-round, and any unreserved sites are available first-come, first-served.
Fall and winter bring heavy rain and short days. November is the wettest month on this part of the Kitsap Peninsula, with December close behind, and snow is uncommon but possible. Private parks such as Cedar Glen RV Park, Eagle Tree RV Park, and Gig Harbor RV Resort stay open year-round and are the more comfortable choice in shoulder season for travelers who want full hookups and laundry.

Booking and how-to
State park sites at Illahee State Park and Manchester State Park are booked through the Washington State Parks reservation system, online or by phone at 888-226-7688. The booking window opens up to nine months in advance of the arrival date. Summer weekends and holidays book out fast, so set a reminder for the window opening.
Private resorts in the area, including Gig Harbor RV Resort, Cedar Glen RV Park, and Eagle Tree RV Park, take reservations directly through their own websites or phone lines. Monthly and extended-stay rates are usually available on request.
Bring a Discover Pass for any day-use stops at Washington state parks; it is required for vehicle parking and is separate from camping fees. Confirm rig length limits before booking, especially at Illahee, where the maximum site length is 40 feet with limited availability for longer rigs.
What to expect
State park campgrounds in this area are wooded and compact. Illahee State Park has 23 standard sites plus one full-hookup site, a dump station, and restrooms with showers. Maximum site length is 40 feet, with limited availability for the longest rigs. Manchester State Park has 35 standard sites and 15 partial-hookup sites with water and electric, a single dump station near the entrance, and a maximum site length of 60 feet, again with limited availability.
Private resorts such as Gig Harbor RV Resort offer full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, pull-through and back-in sites for larger rigs, laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi. Sites can feel close together, but the grounds are landscaped and quiet.
Cell coverage is generally good across the Kitsap Peninsula. Expect cool, damp mornings even in summer and pack a rain layer year-round.

Pro tip: book a late-September trip to catch ripe-apple weather, salmon runs at the Hood Canal hatcheries, and shoulder-season pricing on both the RV and the campground.
weather.gov/sew/I have never rented an RV before. Is Parkwood a good place to start?

Every RVezy host gives you a full orientation at pickup covering leveling, shore power, propane, water systems, and tank dumping, so you leave knowing exactly what to do. You can also message hosts before booking with any question, no matter how basic. Want zero stress? An RV road trip from Parkwood opens up some of the most scenic miles in the country. Head west to Olympic National Park for Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent, and the Hoh Rainforest (75 to 150 miles, 2 to 3.5 hours). Drive south to Mount Rainier National Park for alpine meadows at Paradise (about 110 miles, 2.5 hours). Loop the entire Olympic Peninsula on Highway 101 (a classic 330-mile circle). Cross the Cascades east to Leavenworth's Bavarian village (175 miles, about 3.5 hours). Or head down the Pacific coast to Cannon Beach, Oregon (240 miles). Travel into Canada is allowed with some hosts and requires advance approval; travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals.
nps.gov/mora/index.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on my RV rental in Parkwood?
Fuel is one of your biggest variables, but it's easy to plan for. Expect roughly 8 to 10 MPG for a Class C motorhome, 10 to 14 MPG for a campervan rental Parkwood, and 12 to 18 MPG for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. Washington gas prices typically run $0.40 to $0.80 above the national average, so budget around $4.50 to $5.20 per gallon for regular and slightly more for diesel. A typical 300-mile Kitsap-to-Olympic-Peninsula loop runs about $120 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: Costco in Silverdale (about 10 miles from Parkwood) consistently has the cheapest gas in the county, fill up there before heading west on Highway 101.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Parkwood?
For summer weekends at Washington State Parks, book the day reservations open, which is nine months in advance through the official Washington State Parks reservation system. Manchester, Illahee, Kitsap Memorial, and Belfair State Parks all fill within hours for July and August Fridays and Saturdays. Midweek summer stays and shoulder-season trips (May, September, October) are much easier, often available a few weeks out. Private parks like Eagle Tree RV Park in Poulsbo typically book 1 to 3 months ahead in peak season. Insider tip: many Kitsap regulars target Sunday-through-Thursday stays, they're quieter, cheaper, and far easier to grab last minute. Pair that with a flexible RVezy delivery booking and you've got a stress-free trip.
parks.wa.gov/make-reservationWhat are driving conditions like around Parkwood, WA?
Driving an RV around Parkwood is refreshingly mellow compared to most metro areas. Local roads like Sedgwick Road, Mile Hill Drive, and Highway 16 are wide, well-maintained, and rarely congested outside of weekday Bremerton commute windows (7 to 9 AM and 4 to 6 PM). Watch for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge eastbound toll (cash-free, billed via license plate) and the occasional ferry queue at Southworth or Bremerton terminals. Rain is the main weather factor October through April, slow down and double your follow distance on wet pavement. Avoid driving tall rigs through downtown Seattle entirely; instead, use the Tacoma Narrows route or have your host deliver. The good news? Kitsap drivers are notoriously patient with RVs.

Most Washington State Parks have potable water fill stations and dump stations, with day-use Discover Pass required ($11.50 daily or $30 annual). For propane and supplies, head to Silverdale or Port Orchard, both within 10 miles. Pro tip: if you're boondocking on the Olympic Peninsula, top off fresh water and dump tanks at Belfair or Kitsap Memorial before heading out, services get sparse west of Highway 101.
parks.wa.gov/discover-passWhat's included inside a typical RV rental in Parkwood?

Generators or solar setups are common on bigger rigs, ideal for boondocking on Olympic Peninsula forest roads. Wi-Fi hotspots are sometimes offered as an add-on. Every listing on RVezy shows a full amenities checklist, so you can filter for exactly what you want, whether that's a kid-friendly bunkhouse or a sleek campervan with a queen bed.
fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/title49/section/393.93What add-ons and extras can I get with my RV rental in Parkwood?

Delivery and setup is one of the most popular options for a family RV trip in Parkwood, with fees typically scaling by distance. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Parkwood%2C%20WashingtonHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is handled fully through the RVezy platform, with no cash exchanged with the host. You pay your booking total (rental, fees, protection plan) by credit card, with a portion charged at booking and the balance typically charged before pickup. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before your trip starts (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) and released after dropoff once the host confirms everything is in order. To avoid issues, complete the pre-trip walkthrough, photograph the RV inside and out at pickup, return it on time with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump tanks if your host requires it.
