Fall brings foliage in the Columbia River Gorge and generally lower demand at private RV parks, though rain increases through October and November. Winter camping is possible at year-round private parks, with wet, overcast weather the norm.

Private RV parks in the Salmon Creek and Vancouver area are urban to suburban in character, with paved or gravel pads, full hookups, and easy freeway access. Sites tend to be close together, and highway or road noise is common at locations near Interstate 5 or Interstate 205. Expect on-site laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi at most parks, plus pull-through options for larger rigs. Washington State Park campgrounds within an hour's drive offer a more forested experience. Battle Ground Lake and Paradise Point provide a mix of standard, utility, and walk-in sites, and some loops close in winter. Length limits vary by loop, so check the site map when reserving a larger motorhome or fifth wheel. Bears and other wildlife are uncommon at valley-floor parks, but standard food storage practices apply at forested state park sites.
