Campgrounds near Sammamish
Sammamish sits on a plateau east of Seattle between Lake Sammamish and the Sammamish River, with I-90 and I-405 putting most of the region's RV parks within a short drive. The city itself has no public campgrounds, so RV travelers typically base out of nearby Issaquah, Bellevue, Preston, or Fall City and use Sammamish as a jumping-off point for Lake Sammamish, Tiger Mountain, and the Snoqualmie Valley.
The closest full-service parks are urban-edge properties. Issaquah Village RV Park features 116 full or partial hookup campsites that are big rig friendly, many of which accommodate slide-out RVs, with free WiFi, a dump station, and pet-friendly policies. Vasa Park Resort sits on Lake Sammamish minutes from downtown Bellevue and welcomes tent, car, and RV camping; all sites include 30 amp electrical and water, and full hookup sites add septic. Trailer Inns RV Park in Bellevue offers full hookup spaces along with indoor amenities that make it a practical year-round base.
Farther east toward the Cascade foothills, Tall Chief RV Resort in Fall City has roughly 180 sites and stays open year round, and Blue Sky RV Park in Preston offers wooded sites tucked into the hillside above I-90.
Things to do near Sammamish
Lake Sammamish State Park is a 531-acre green space at the south end of the lake with two sandy swimming beaches, extensive picnic facilities, and a public boat launch. The park is close to Seattle, offers volleyball courts and soccer fields, and requires a Discover Pass for vehicle access. Kayak, stand-up paddleboard, and pedal boat rentals are available from Lake Sammamish Paddle Co. at Tibbetts Beach.
Hiking is close at hand. Tiger Mountain State Forest, Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park, and Squak Mountain State Park all sit within a short drive and offer everything from short family loops to full-day ridge climbs. Tall Chief RV Resort is roughly 10 minutes from Snoqualmie Falls, a popular half-day stop paired with the town of Snoqualmie and the Northwest Railway Museum.
For city days, downtown Bellevue, Redmond, and Seattle are all reachable via I-90.

Summer is the prime RV season on the Sammamish plateau. Late June through early September brings dry, mild days, warm lake water, and the fullest slate of park programming. It is also the busiest window at Lake Sammamish State Park, one of the more popular parks in the Puget Sound region, so weekday visits or early arrivals are recommended when the weather turns hot. Private RV parks near Bellevue and Issaquah fill weeks in advance for July and August, and holiday weekends can sell out even earlier.
Spring and fall are shoulder seasons with lower demand and a higher chance of showers. Trails stay open, wildflowers appear on Tiger and Cougar mountains, and mornings often start under low cloud. The Sunset Beach Café at Lake Sammamish State Park is open weekends in May and September and daily from mid-June to Labor Day.
Winter is quiet. Most private parks in the area stay open year-round for RV stays, but on-site amenities such as pools, playgrounds, and camp stores may be closed or on reduced hours.

How to book near Sammamish
Public options near Sammamish are limited for overnight RV use. Individual camping is not permitted at Lake Sammamish State Park; the Hans Jensen Group Camp is available exclusively to youth organizations and requires advance reservations booked online through Washington State Parks.
Most RV travelers book directly with private parks. Vasa Park Resort manages short-term reservations through Campspot, with long-term stays handled by request. Tall Chief RV Resort in Fall City takes reservations by phone at 425-222-0778, with campsite check-in from noon to 8 p.m. and check-out by 11 a.m., and is part of the Thousand Trails network. Issaquah Village RV Park, Trailer Inns RV Park, and Blue Sky RV Park all take reservations by phone or through their own websites.
For peak summer weekends, book two to three months out and confirm rig-length limits and slide-out clearance when reserving.
What to expect near Sammamish
RV parks near Sammamish are urban and suburban in character, not wilderness campgrounds. Sites are generally paved or gravel, full or partial hookup, and set close together. Interstate 90 runs through the corridor, and road noise from I-90 is a common note from reviewers at parks along the freeway. Traffic between Seattle and Snoqualmie Pass can be heavy on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings.
Families will find kid-friendly amenities at most parks: playgrounds, laundry, and clean showers are standard, and Vasa Park Resort adds beach access on Lake Sammamish while Tall Chief RV Resort offers a clubhouse, pool, and organized activities in the warm months. Several parks in the corridor host a mix of overnight travelers and longer-term residents, so expect a share of permanent tenants alongside short-stay campers.
Bring layers year-round, pack for rain outside July and August, and plan grocery stops in Issaquah, Bellevue, or Fall City before check-in.

Travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $275 nightly, and Class A coaches can run $300 and up. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Sammamish%2C%20WashingtonDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Sammamish?
Good news: a regular Washington (or out-of-state) driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Sammamish for almost every RV on the platform. Washington's Department of Licensing only requires a commercial driver license (CDL) for single vehicles rated over 26,001 pounds, and the vast majority of motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers fall well under that. To book on RVezy, you'll need to be 25 or older and complete a quick ID verification through the platform. That's it, no CDL course, no endorsement, no special test. Most first-time renters in Sammamish are surprised at how fast they go from browsing to booking.
dol.wa.gov/driver-licenses-and-permits/commercial-driver-licenses-cdl/do-i-need-cdlIs my RV rental protected if something goes wrong on the road?
Yes, every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can pull out of Sammamish with real peace of mind. You choose your level of coverage at checkout (not the host), and the plan covers most damage to the RV during your trip. It is not traditional auto insurance, but it provides meaningful financial protection purpose-built for peer-to-peer RV rentals. Combined with 24/7 roadside support, you are covered whether you are parked at Lake Sammamish State Park or climbing Snoqualmie Pass on I-90. Review each coverage tier at checkout and pick the one that matches your comfort level.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Sammamish RV rental?
You are not locked in the moment you book. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the host), and it includes a grace period after booking where eligible cancellations receive a full refund, plus tiered refunds depending on how far out from your trip you cancel. If a host cancels, RVezy refunds guests or provides travel credits. The full cancellation details are shown on RVezy during checkout so you can book your RV rental in Sammamish, WA with confidence.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Sammamish?
Yes, a pet-friendly RV rental in Sammamish is easy to find on RVezy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you will see motorhomes and travel trailers from hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). Sammamish is a great base for dog owners, with leashed pups welcome at Lake Sammamish State Park, Marymoor Park's large off-leash area in nearby Redmond, and Soaring Eagle Regional Park's wooded trails. Most pet-friendly hosts charge a small cleaning fee that is shown upfront. Pro tip: message the host before booking to share your dog's size and breed so they can confirm the fit.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/lake-sammamish-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Sammamish?
Yes, RV delivery in Sammamish is one of the most popular options on RVezy and is a great choice for first-time renters. Many local hosts will drive the RV to your home in the Sammamish Plateau, Klahanie, or Issaquah Highlands, set it up, level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery is also available to nearby campgrounds like Vasa Park Resort on Lake Sammamish and Tolt MacDonald Park in Carnation. Use the Delivery filter when searching, then message the host with your delivery address to confirm the fee, which is typically charged per mile.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Sammamish%2C%20WashingtonHow far can I drive on my Sammamish RV trip and how does mileage work?
You've got serious road-trip range from Sammamish. Hosts on RVezy set their own mileage policies, with many offering 100 to 150 free miles per night and some listings offering RV rental with unlimited mileage (great for longer loops). From Sammamish, Mount Rainier National Park's Paradise area is about 95 miles south, Olympic National Park's Hurricane Ridge is roughly 130 miles via the Edmonds ferry, Leavenworth is about 120 miles east over Stevens Pass, and Mount Baker is around 130 miles north. Filter by mileage policy on RVezy or message a host directly to discuss a bigger Pacific Northwest loop before you book.
nps.gov/mora/index.htmWhere can I camp with my RV near Sammamish?
You have great options for RV camping near Sammamish within a short drive. Vasa Park Resort sits right on Lake Sammamish in Bellevue with hookups and lakefront sites. Blue Sky RV Park in Preston is big-rig friendly and just off I-90. For a forest experience, Tinkham Campground (about 40 minutes southeast in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest) and Lake Easton State Park near Easton are both about an hour out and bookable through Recreation.gov or Washington State Parks. Note that Lake Sammamish State Park itself is day-use only (no overnight camping), but it has a handy RV dump station and a great picnic beach for a day stop.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/lake-sammamish-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Sammamish?
The sweet spot for an RV trip from Sammamish is mid-June through late September, when the Pacific Northwest dry season kicks in and daytime highs sit comfortably in the 70s to mid-80s. July and August are peak (and warmest, with very little rain), while late May, June, and September offer fewer crowds and easier campground reservations. Shoulder-season trips in April and October can be magical if you don't mind rain, think misty waterfalls and empty trails in the Cascades. Winter RV trips are doable too, since the mild lowland climate around Sammamish keeps most local parks open year-round. Pro tip: book July and August stays at least three months ahead.
weather.gov/sew/I've never rented an RV before, how do I know I'll be okay driving it?
First time renting an RV? You're in great hands. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, leveling, slide-outs, propane, water, and dumping, before you take the keys. Many Sammamish hosts also offer delivery, which means you don't have to drive the RV at all if you don't want to. Start with a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan, which handle a lot like a large SUV, and stick to lower-stress destinations like Lake Easton State Park or Mount Rainier for your first trip. RVezy's 24/7 support is just a phone call away if questions come up mid-trip.
wsdot.wa.gov/travel/real-time-travel-informationWhat if I have a mechanical issue or flat tire during my trip?
Don't sweat it, every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package. Whether you've got a flat tire on I-90 climbing toward Snoqualmie Pass, a dead battery at a trailhead near North Bend, or a propane issue at Tolt MacDonald Park, one call gets help dispatched. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app, since most local hosts know their RV inside and out and can troubleshoot small issues quickly. Save the roadside number in your phone before pulling out of Sammamish, then relax and enjoy the drive.
wsdot.wa.gov/travel/real-time-travel-informationCan I take my Sammamish RV rental to Canada or other states?
Yes, many hosts allow cross-border and multi-state travel from Sammamish, with British Columbia being a popular route (Vancouver is just 140 miles north). Travel into Canada is permitted on RVezy when the host approves it and insurance/protection coverage extends across the border, so message the host before booking to confirm. Travel to Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental. Popular RV road trips from Sammamish include the Olympic Peninsula loop, the North Cascades to Methow Valley circuit, and a Mount Rainier-to-Mount St. Helens run. Bring your passport for any Canada-bound trip and let your host know your planned route at booking.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on a Sammamish RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, but it's easy to budget. Most Class C motorhomes around Sammamish get 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class B campervans get 15 to 20 MPG, and Class A coaches typically get 6 to 10 MPG. With Washington gas prices running among the higher in the country, plan roughly $0.40 to $0.70 per mile for fuel depending on your rig. Costco in Issaquah (off I-90 at Exit 15) and the Safeway fuel stations in Sammamish typically have the lowest prices in town, top off there before you head to the mountains where prices climb fast.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Sammamish?
For summer weekends (mid-June through Labor Day), book about 9 months out: that is the maximum reservation window for Washington State Parks, and popular spots like Lake Easton and Kanaskat-Palmer fill the moment they open. National Forest sites like Denny Creek and Tinkham book through Recreation.gov on a 6-month rolling window. Midweek and shoulder-season trips are far easier, and you can often find a great site 1 to 4 weeks out. Pro tip: check for cancellations regularly, since last-minute openings happen daily at parks near Sammamish.
parks.wa.gov/passes-permits/reservationsWhat are driving conditions like around Sammamish for a larger RV?
Sammamish itself is easy RV territory: mostly suburban roads with gentle hills, and I-90 (5 minutes south) gives you a wide highway in either direction. The main thing to watch is Snoqualmie Pass on I-90 (3,022 ft elevation) heading east, which can require chains or traction tires from November through March. WSDOT posts real-time pass conditions. Stevens Pass on US-2 north to Leavenworth is similar. Around town, avoid the narrow sections of East Lake Sammamish Parkway during rush hour and use 228th Ave SE or I-90 for getting through. Most hosts will give you a route recommendation at pickup.
wsdot.com/travel/real-time/mountainpasses/snoqualmiepassWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Sammamish?
Campgrounds near Sammamish range from full-service resorts to rustic forest sites, so you can pick what fits your style. Vasa Park Resort and Blue Sky RV Park offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, and showers. Washington State Parks like Kanaskat-Palmer have water and electric at most RV sites plus dump stations and clean restrooms. National Forest campgrounds like Tinkham and Denny Creek are typically dry camping (vault toilets, no hookups), so arrive with full fresh water and empty waste tanks. Lake Sammamish State Park has a public RV dump station, making it a handy stop on your way home.
parks.wa.gov/find-parks/state-parks/lake-sammamish-state-parkWhat is actually inside the RVs you can rent in Sammamish?
Most RVs on RVezy in Sammamish come fully equipped so you can roll in and start your trip. Expect a queen or king bed, dinette and bunk sleeping options, a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink), bathroom with toilet and shower, furnace and air conditioning, propane, fresh/grey/black water tanks, and seatbelts for travel. Many hosts include a TV, generator, outdoor camp chairs, and basic kitchen kits. Wi-Fi is hit or miss in the Cascades, so do not count on streaming, but most rigs have good cell signal along I-90. Each listing details exactly what is included, and you can message the host for anything specific like a CPAP outlet or a child booster seat.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Sammamish%2C%20WashingtonWhat add-ons and pickup logistics should I know about?
RVezy hosts in Sammamish offer popular add-ons that make life easier: linens and bedding packages, kitchen kits, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, bike racks, generators, propane refills, and Starlink Wi-Fi on premium rigs. Pickup is typically at the host's home (often in Sammamish, Issaquah, Redmond, or Bellevue), and orientation takes 30 to 60 minutes. Standard mileage allowances commonly range from 100 to 150 miles per night, with overage fees set by the host. Pro tip: ask about a generator if you plan to dry-camp in the Cascades, since it is the difference between cold coffee and a warm rig at 6 a.m.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Sammamish%2C%20WashingtonHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and fully handled through RVezy: no cash or e-transfers to the host. You pay the rental total securely at booking with a credit card, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before the trip rather than actually charged. As long as you return the RV in the same condition with the agreed fuel and tank levels, the hold is released after the trip. To avoid any deposit issues, take photos of the RV inside and out at pickup and dropoff, follow the host's checklist, and refill propane and fuel as agreed.
