Campgrounds and RV parks near Westport, WA

Charter fishing is a main draw. The Port of Westport hosts one of the largest charter fleets on the Washington coast, with trips for salmon, lingcod, rockfish, halibut, and albacore tuna in season. Bottomfish trips typically run from early spring into mid-fall, and summer salmon seasons are set annually by state and federal managers. Razor clamming is a family-friendly draw when WDFW opens digs on the Twin Harbors beaches, which stretch south from the Grays Harbor jetty past Grayland. Every digger age 15 or older needs a Washington shellfish license, and approved tides are posted per dig. Beyond fishing, the peninsula has surfing at Half Moon Bay, the paved Westport Light Trail between the marina and the lighthouse, dune trails at both state parks, and winter storm watching from the beach approaches.

Summer, roughly late June through Labor Day, is the busiest stretch. Days are cool and often partly cloudy, with highs typically in the mid-60s Fahrenheit. Charter boats run daily, salmon seasons are usually open, and campground loops at Twin Harbors and Grayland Beach book out weeks in advance. Reserve early for July and August weekends. Spring and early fall are quieter and often the best value. Razor clam digs are concentrated in fall through spring, so weekends aligned with approved tide series still draw crowds. Bottomfishing generally opens in early spring and continues into mid-fall. Winter is wet, windy, and dark, but it is also prime storm-watching season. Grayland Beach State Park flags roughly fifty flood-prone sites from November 1 through April 15 and offers them first-come, first-served during that window. Twin Harbors runs on a first-come, first-served basis from September 15 through May 1. Heated yurts and cabins stay bookable year-round and are the warmer, drier option in the shoulder months.

Sites at Grayland Beach State Park sit on large, paved driveways that handle bigger rigs, with a maximum site length around 60 feet on limited sites. Twin Harbors hookup sites are smaller and tighter, with a 35-foot maximum, and larger units can have trouble maneuvering. Both parks have flush toilets, hot showers, potable water, and a dump station, though the Twin Harbors dump station closes November through April. The beaches are wide and hard-packed, with vehicle access allowed in designated areas. Watch tide charts, obey posted beach speed limits, and stay off marked snowy plover nesting areas at Grayland. Expect cool, damp air even in summer, especially mornings and evenings. Pack layers, rain gear, and extra propane in the shoulder seasons. Cell coverage varies by carrier.
