Campgrounds and RV parks near Belington, WV

Belington sits in Barbour County in north-central West Virginia, where the Tygart Valley River meets the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains. The town works as a practical base for RV travelers heading to Audra State Park, the Monongahela National Forest, and the Elkins area, all within roughly a 30-minute drive. Elevation in the immediate area runs from about 1,700 to 2,700 feet, so roads twist through forested ridges and river valleys rather than open country. The nearest developed campgrounds cluster along the Middle Fork River and the Route 33 corridor toward Elkins. Kick Back N Camp sits just over a mile east of Audra State Park, offering hookup sites a short drive from the park itself, which anchors the area with 67 campsites for RVs, trailers and tents, with 13 sites offering 30-amp electric hookups and no full hookups available in a heavily wooded riverfront setting. Additional private options include Saylwinds Campground, Pegasus Farm Campground, and Smoked Bottom Campground, giving RV travelers a mix of hookup sites, primitive spots, and creek or pond frontage. Most campgrounds in the area operate seasonally from spring through fall, matching the reliable warm-weather window in the West Virginia highlands.

Reservation systems vary by property. Audra's campground is open spring through fall, weather permitting, and campsites may be reserved anytime online, by phone, or at the campground office through the West Virginia State Parks reservation platform. Reservations can be booked up to 12 months in advance, and there is a 14-night maximum stay. Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grill, with a limited number offering 30-amp electric. Private campgrounds near Belington, including Kick Back N Camp, Saylwinds, Pegasus Farm, and Smoked Bottom, take reservations directly through their own websites or common booking platforms. For summer weekends, holiday weekends, and fall-foliage weekends in October, book several weeks ahead. Midweek availability is usually easier to find, and last-minute walk-in sites are sometimes open at the smaller private parks.
