Campgrounds near East View, West Virginia
East View is a small census-designated place in Harrison County, bordered by Clarksburg to the west and north and by Anmoore to the southeast, in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains of north-central West Virginia. The area sits above Elk Creek and drains toward the West Fork River, giving RV travelers quick access to river valleys, state parks, and reservoir recreation within a short drive.
RV travelers have a mix of options close in and within about an hour. Fairmont Hills RV Park and Oakdale Village Mobile City, LLC serve travelers who want hookups near town and easy interstate access. Tygart Lake, constructed in 1934 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, stretches 10 miles long and covers 1,750 acres, and Tygart Lake State Park sits southeast near Grafton along that reservoir. Audra State Park is a heavily wooded area by the Middle Fork River, located in southwestern Barbour County and a portion of Upshur County, and Kick Back N Camp is a private campground in the same rural area.
Expect wooded, hilly terrain, two-lane approach roads, and a mix of full-hookup private parks and standard or electric-only state park sites.
Things to do near East View
Water recreation is the main draw. Tygart Lake supports boating, swimming, fishing, and a lodge with lake views on site. Audra State Park's swimming area on the Middle Fork River, centrally located in the park, is open to visitors between April and October, with waters that have been called the clearest in West Virginia, and the Alum Cave Trail follows a boardwalk beneath a long sandstone overhang.
Tygart Lake State Park has five distinct trails, ranging from light leisurely strolls to more moderate and challenging hikes, following the shoreline and connecting different picnic areas and campsites. The Middle Fork and Tygart Valley rivers are popular with kayakers and paddlers. Families staying at Fairmont Hills RV Park or Oakdale Village Mobile City, LLC are close to Clarksburg and Fairmont for groceries, museums, and dining, while Kick Back N Camp keeps guests near Audra's trails and river access.

Tygart Lake Campground is open spring through fall, and Audra's campground is open spring throughout the fall, weather permitting. Audra is open to visitors between April and October, and the river swimming area operates through the warm season.
Summer is peak season. Weekends fill quickly at both state parks, and lakeside sites at Tygart Lake are the first to book. Fall brings cooler nights and strong foliage color across the Allegheny foothills, which makes late September and October a popular shoulder window for RV trips.
Winter closes the state park campgrounds in the area. Private parks such as Fairmont Hills RV Park and Oakdale Village Mobile City, LLC may operate on a reduced basis in colder months, so travelers planning a cold-weather trip should confirm hookup availability and freeze-protection directly with the park.
How to book campsites near East View
Campsites at Audra may be reserved anytime online, by phone, or at the campground office, with reservations made for no less than two consecutive nights on Friday and Saturday or one night Sunday through Thursday. Tygart Lake State Park uses the same West Virginia State Parks reservation system, and there is a 14-night maximum stay.
Tygart Lake State Park's campground has 36 camping sites; ten come with 50-amp electric and water hookups and 26 are standard sites, a dump station is near the beach area, and full hookup sites are not available. Audra offers 65 scenic camp sites, 39 of which have electricity, with two bathhouses and a centrally located playground, plus coin-operated laundry and a nearby dump station.
Private parks such as Fairmont Hills RV Park, Oakdale Village Mobile City, LLC, and Kick Back N Camp are booked directly with each property. For summer weekends and fall foliage weeks, reserve several months out.
What to expect on the ground
Roads into the state parks are winding and wooded, and cell service can be spotty in the river valleys. Almost all campsites at Tygart Lake pick up Wi-Fi, but the signal is weak from sites 28-40, which typically get about one bar.
Sites vary. Tygart Lake has a mix of standard and 50-amp electric-and-water sites open to RVs, vans, trailers, and tents, and some sites are sized for smaller rigs. Audra's campground is equipped with two bathhouses with modern facilities and a centrally located playground that includes a volleyball court and horseshoe pits, and the park also features hiking, picnicking, and river swimming.
Dogs are welcome at Tygart Lake State Park and are allowed on the hiking and walking trails, but must be on a leash. The campground store is stocked with camping supplies, snacks, and souvenirs, including bagged ice and firewood.
