Campgrounds and RV parks near Middlebourne, WV

Middlebourne is the seat of Tyler County in northwestern West Virginia, set in the rolling hills of the Mid-Ohio Valley region. RV renters use it as a base for the broader Ritchie and Tyler County backcountry, with campgrounds ranging from small private parks to full-service state park loops within about an hour's drive. The closest developed camping options include Lone Pine Campground and Castle Care Campground for private-park stays. About 40 minutes south, North Bend State Park operates River Run Campground along the North Fork of the Hughes River, one of the best-known RV destinations in this part of the state. Grand Vue Park, roughly an hour north near Moundsville, adds a resort-style option with long views over the Ohio Valley. Sparkman Lake offers a smaller, family-run experience for travelers who want a quieter setting. Roads in this region wind through narrow hollows and ridgelines, so RV renters towing larger trailers should plan routes carefully and favor US-50 and other primary corridors when possible.

West Virginia state park campgrounds use a central reservation system that accepts bookings online, by phone, or at the campground office. For River Run at North Bend State Park, the minimum stay is two consecutive nights on Friday and Saturday, or a single night from Sunday through Thursday, with a 14-night maximum. Ten of the electric sites and all non-electric sites are held for first-come, first-served arrivals. Grand Vue Park takes reservations through its own online booking platform and by phone, with weekend rates higher than weeknight rates. Private campgrounds in the area, including Lone Pine Campground and Castle Care Campground, generally accept direct phone or online bookings through the operators. Holiday weekends and summer Fridays fill first, so RV renters should reserve well in advance.
