Campgrounds and RV parks near Fall River, WI

Fall River is a small village in Columbia County, south-central Wisconsin, roughly 30 miles northeast of Madison and within easy driving distance of the Wisconsin Dells and Baraboo tourist corridor. The surrounding countryside is a mix of farmland, glacial kettles, small lakes, and wooded ridges, and the area sits inside the region shaped by the last glacial advance that also formed the Baraboo Range and the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. RV travelers use Fall River as a quieter base for exploring several major draws in the region. Devil's Lake State Park is the busiest state park in Wisconsin, about a 30-minute drive northwest, with a 360-acre lake ringed by 500-foot quartzite bluffs and nearly 30 miles of scenic hiking trails. Madison, the Wisconsin Dells water parks, and Aldo Leopold's shack along the Wisconsin River are all within an hour. Private campgrounds close to the village include Silver Springs Campsites, Willow Mill Campsite LLC, Whistle Stop Campground, Glacier Valley Campground, and Sleepy Dragon Campground, most of which cater to family RV travel with hookups, playgrounds, and pools.

For Wisconsin state park properties in the region, including Devil's Lake, camping reservations are required and can be made up to 11 months in advance of the planned date of occupancy, online or by calling 1-888-947-2757. The reservation window opens at 9 a.m., 11 months prior to the booking date on a rolling basis, and high-demand summer weekends at Devil's Lake often sell out the same day they release. For family campsites, advance reservations booked before May 15 for stays between May 15 and Oct. 31 require a minimum two-night reservation, and a minimum three-night reservation is required on holiday weekends. A vehicle admission pass is required for any motor vehicles in addition to the campsite reservation.
