Campgrounds and RV parks near Horicon, WI

Horicon sits on the southern edge of Horicon Marsh, one of the largest freshwater marshes in the United States and a critical rest stop for thousands of migrating ducks and Canada geese. The town works well as a base for RV travelers focused on birding, paddling, and quiet water-adjacent camping in east-central Wisconsin, roughly an hour northwest of Milwaukee and 45 minutes northeast of Madison. The marsh itself covers more than 33,000 acres across Dodge and Fond du Lac counties. The northern two-thirds is managed federally by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as the 22,000-acre Horicon National Wildlife Refuge, while the southern third, 11,000 acres, is managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as Horicon Marsh State Wildlife Area. Three visitor centers, a paved auto tour, hiking trails, and a floating boardwalk provide public access. Private RV parks cluster close to the marsh and along the Rock River. Nearby options include The Playful Goose Campground of the Horicon Marsh, Fairgrounds RV Park, Breezy Hill Campground, River Bend RV Resort, and Timber Trail Campground, giving travelers a mix of full-hookup, family-oriented, and quieter rural sites within a short drive of the refuge.
