Campgrounds and RV parks near Prairie du Sac, WI

Prairie du Sac is a village on the Wisconsin River in Sauk County, roughly 25 miles northwest of Madison and about 15 miles south of Baraboo and the Wisconsin Dells corridor. The area combines river access, rolling driftless-region terrain, and proximity to one of the state's busiest outdoor destinations, which makes it a practical base for RV travelers moving between Madison and the Dells. Most nearby campgrounds fall into two categories. Private parks such as Buddy's River Resort, Crystal Lake Campground and RV Park, and Merry Macs Campground cater to RV travelers with full or partial hookups, dump stations, and family amenities. State-park camping at Devils Lake, split across the Northern Lights and Quartzite loops, offers larger natural sites near the quartzite bluffs but limited hookups, with electric available on many sites and no water or sewer at the pad. The village itself has grocery stores, propane, and services for restocking between stops. Sauk Prairie's boat landings and the Ferry Bluff eagle viewing area sit within a short drive.

Devils Lake State Park campsites, including Northern Lights and Quartzite, are reserved through the Wisconsin State Park System's reservation portal at wisconsin.goingtocamp.com or by phone at 1-888-947-2757. Sites become available on a rolling 11-month window, and popular summer weekends often book within minutes of release. A Wisconsin State Park vehicle admission pass is required in addition to the campsite fee and can be purchased with the reservation or at the park entrance. Private parks such as Buddy's River Resort, Crystal Lake Campground and RV Park, and Merry Macs Campground take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Holiday weekends and Wisconsin Dells overflow weekends fill earliest, so booking two to three months out is advisable for July and August stays.
