RV friendly events in Mitchell, MB
Winnipeg Folk Festival
Feel the pull of fiddle, guitar, and open sky at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, where Birds Hill Provincial Park turns into a village of stages, workshops, and late-night jams. This beloved Manitoba gathering runs across several summer days around the second weekend of July, drawing folk, roots, and world music fans from across the continent. Rolling in an RV gives you a private retreat between sets, room for coolers and camp chairs, and the freedom to explore Winnipeg before you head northeast to the park.

We camped in this RV as a family of 5 (small kids) with a small dog. We found the beds to be plenty big and appreciated the size of the fridge. The trailer was easy to pull & although the trailer did not have an awning, Colleen offered a screen tent as well as other camping accessories. The host was friendly and helpful. We had an overall great experience!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Mitchell, MB
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Mitchell, Manitoba?
RV rental in Mitchell is one of the most affordable ways to explore southern Manitoba. Travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 CAD per night, while motorhomes range from $175 to $300 CAD per night depending on size and season. Because Mitchell sits just outside Steinbach in the Rural Municipality of Hanover, nightly rates here are often better than downtown Winnipeg listings, and many hosts offer weekly discounts of 10 to 15 percent. For a cheap RV rental in Mitchell, book mid-week pickups in June or September and filter for travel trailers, which tend to be the lowest-priced category. Bundling delivery with a longer stay often saves more than chasing the lowest nightly rate.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mitchell%2C+ManitobaWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Mitchell, Manitoba?
Good news: a regular Manitoba Class 5 driver's license, or its equivalent from your home province, state, or country, is all you need to rent an RV in Mitchell for nearly every rig on RVezy, including Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and most Class A motorhomes without air brakes. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit to be safe. If you are eyeing a large diesel Class A with air brakes, message the host first to confirm requirements. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple it is.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental protected if something happens during the trip?
Yes, every RV rental in Mitchell booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Highway 52 with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers physical damage to the vehicle, and you choose your coverage level at checkout (not the host), so you can pick the tier that matches your comfort level. It provides meaningful financial protection if the unexpected happens, whether that is a chipped windshield on the Trans-Canada or a small bump backing into your campsite at Birds Hill. Booking with this built-in safety net is part of what makes a Mitchell RV trip feel low-stress from the start.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Mitchell RV rental?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy at the platform level, not individual hosts, so terms are consistent across every Mitchell listing. Refund eligibility depends on how close you are to your trip start date and which policy applies to your booking. If your plans shift, open your RVezy account and start the cancellation from there, or message the support team to walk through your options. If a host needs to cancel on you, RVezy helps with a refund or rebooking credit so your trip stays on track.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Mitchell RV trip?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Mitchell is easy to find on RVezy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search and you will see motorhomes and travel trailers where dogs (and sometimes cats) are welcome. Once on the road, southern Manitoba is wonderfully dog-friendly: Birds Hill Provincial Park has off-leash areas and lake swimming, Sandilands Provincial Forest offers shaded trails just 30 minutes south, and most Manitoba Parks campgrounds welcome leashed pets at no extra charge. Message the host before booking to confirm any pet fees and let them know your dog's size, which helps them suggest the best rig for your family.
manitobaparks.com/Can the RV be delivered to me in Mitchell or somewhere nearby?
Yes, RV delivery in Mitchell is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters who would rather skip driving a motorhome through Winnipeg traffic on the way out of town. Many local hosts will deliver and set up the RV at your chosen campground, including Birds Hill Provincial Park (about 45 minutes northwest), St. Malo Provincial Park (about 40 minutes south), or even a private acreage in the RM of Hanover. They will level the rig, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees are set by each host and often based on distance. Filter by Delivery on the Mitchell page and message hosts for an exact quote.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mitchell%2C+ManitobaHow far can I drive on my Mitchell RV trip, and how do mileage policies work?
You have plenty of range from Mitchell. Hosts on RVezy set their own mileage policies, and many include a generous daily allowance (often 150 to 200 km per day free) with extra kilometres charged at a per-km rate listed on the booking. Some Mitchell-area hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is great for longer Manitoba road trips. To put it in perspective: Winnipeg is just over 60 km away, Birds Hill Park is roughly 75 km, Whiteshell Provincial Park is about 130 km east, Riding Mountain National Park sits about 350 km northwest, and the Emerson border crossing is around 90 km south. Pick a mileage package that matches your route, and you will never feel boxed in.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mitchell%2C+ManitobaWhere are the best campgrounds near Mitchell, Manitoba?
You are spoiled for choice for RV camping near Mitchell. Top picks include St. Malo Provincial Park (about 40 minutes south, with a sandy lake beach and electrical sites), Birds Hill Provincial Park (about 45 minutes northwest, a Manitoba classic with paved roads and serviced loops), Falcon Lake Campground in Whiteshell Provincial Park (about 2 hours east along the Trans-Canada), and Grand Beach Provincial Park (about 90 minutes north on Lake Winnipeg's white-sand shore). Reserve through the Manitoba Parks Reservation Service, which opens bookings each spring and fills up fast for the July long weekend.
manitobaparks.com/When is the best time to rent an RV in Mitchell, Manitoba?
The sweet spot for a Mitchell RV trip is mid-May through late September, when daytime highs typically range from 18 to 28 degrees Celsius and prairie sunshine peaks. July is the warmest month with average highs near 26 degrees Celsius, perfect for lake days at St. Malo or Falcon Lake. June brings lush greenery along with the heaviest rainfall and mosquitoes, while September delivers crisp air, fall colours in the Sandilands forest, and noticeably cheaper rates. Winter rentals from December to March are limited because temperatures regularly drop below -20 degrees Celsius, but a few four-season hosts cater to ice-fishing trips. For most travellers, late June through early September is the can't-miss window.
climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/results_1991_2020_e.html?searchType=stnProv&lstProvince=MBI've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay picking one up in Mitchell?
You will do great, and Mitchell is one of the easiest places in Manitoba to start. The roads around the Rural Municipality of Hanover are flat, straight, and lightly trafficked compared to downtown Winnipeg, so first time renting an RV here feels manageable from kilometre one. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the propane, water, slide-outs, and dump valves before you leave the driveway. If you are nervous about size, start with a Class B campervan or a smaller Class C, both great for first-timers. Pro tip: do a practice loop on Provincial Highway 52 between Mitchell and Steinbach before heading further out.
mpi.mb.ca/homeWhat happens if my RV breaks down on a Manitoba road trip?
You are covered. Every Mitchell RV rental booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you are outside Falcon Lake, parked at Birds Hill, or somewhere along Highway 75 heading toward the US border. Roadside support handles flat tires, lockouts, battery boosts, fuel delivery, and towing. For mechanical issues with the rig itself, message your host directly through the RVezy app: they know the vehicle best and can usually troubleshoot quickly. The RVezy support team is also available before, during, and after your trip if you need an extra hand.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Mitchell RV rental across the US border or to other provinces?
Many Mitchell hosts allow cross-border travel into the United States, which is great news since the Emerson border crossing on Highway 75 is only about 90 km south, putting Grand Forks, North Dakota within an easy 2.5-hour drive. Travel into Ontario (Kenora is about 2 hours east) and Saskatchewan is also commonly permitted. Message the host before booking to confirm, since cross-border travel needs to be approved in advance. Travel to Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Bring your passport, vehicle registration, and a letter of permission from the host for smooth border crossings.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on an RV road trip from Mitchell?
Fuel is the biggest variable cost on any RV road trip from Mitchell, but it is manageable with a little planning. Expect 18 to 22 litres per 100 km for a Class C motorhome, 14 to 18 for a Class B campervan, and 20 to 26 for larger Class A rigs. Manitoba gas prices typically sit a few cents below the national average, and stations in Steinbach (about 3 km east) are often cheaper than Winnipeg pumps, so top up before heading out. A weekend round-trip from Mitchell to Falcon Lake and back (roughly 260 km) usually runs $80 to $120 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: the Co-op gas bar in the area offers member rebates worth signing up for.
natural-resources.canada.ca/energy-sources/fossil-fuels/pricing/fuel-consumption-guideHow far in advance should I book a campground for my Mitchell RV trip?
Book early, especially for the July and August long weekends. Manitoba Parks opens its reservation system each spring through the Manitoba Parks Reservation Service, and popular spots like Birds Hill, Falcon Lake, and Grand Beach can sell out within hours for summer weekends. For mid-week stays or shoulder-season trips in June or September, you can often grab a site just 2 to 3 weeks ahead. Private campgrounds around Mitchell tend to be easier to book last-minute. Pro tip: set alerts for cancellations to grab a site when sold-out Manitoba Parks bookings open back up.
manitobaparks.com/What are driving conditions like around Mitchell, Manitoba?
Driving an RV around Mitchell is refreshingly easy. The roads are flat, straight, and well-maintained, with Provincial Highway 52 connecting Mitchell to Steinbach and Highway 12 linking north to the Trans-Canada. Summer brings occasional severe thunderstorms with hail and strong westerly winds (gusts over 80 km/h are not unusual on the open prairie), so check Environment Canada alerts before heading out and pull over if visibility drops. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk, especially on rural stretches near the Sandilands. Winnipeg is the only nearby urban driving challenge, and many renters skip it entirely by using RV delivery from their Mitchell host. Cruise control on Highway 1 makes long days surprisingly relaxing.
manitoba511.ca/What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Mitchell?
Manitoba campgrounds punch above their weight on amenities. Most provincial parks within an hour of Mitchell offer electrical sites (15, 30, or 50 amp), potable water fill stations, dump stations, hot showers, and flush toilets, with Birds Hill and Falcon Lake also featuring fully-serviced loops with sewer hookups. Private parks along the Trans-Canada often add Wi-Fi, laundry, and 50-amp full hookups. To dump tanks closer to home, the dump station at Birds Hill Provincial Park is open seasonally, and many service stations in Steinbach offer potable water fills. Pro tip: pack a 7.5-metre sewer hose and a 30-to-15-amp adapter, since some older sites still use 15-amp service.
manitobaparks.com/What's inside a typical RV rental in Mitchell?
Most motorhome rentals in Mitchell come fully equipped for comfortable family camping. Expect a queen or king bed in the main sleeping area, a convertible dinette or bunk beds for kids, a kitchen with propane stove, fridge/freezer, microwave, and sink, plus a wet or dry bathroom with toilet and shower. Air conditioning, furnace heat, and a roof-mounted awning are standard on Class C and Class A rigs. Many Mitchell-area RVs also include a generator, solar package, outdoor speakers, or a TV, and seatbelted seating for everyone listed on the booking. Wi-Fi is usually bring-your-own-hotspot since rural Manitoba cell coverage varies. Check each listing's amenities tab to compare features side by side.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mitchell%2C+ManitobaWhat add-ons and extras can I get with my Mitchell RV rental?
Hosts in Mitchell offer plenty of helpful add-ons to customize your trip. Common options include camping chairs and tables, a propane fire pit (helpful during fire-ban summers), kitchen and linen packages, bike racks, kayak or SUP racks, generators, kids' bedding bundles, and pet packages. Delivery and setup at popular destinations like Birds Hill or St. Malo is the most-requested add-on, with fees set by each host. Most hosts include a basic mileage allowance with extras priced clearly on the listing, and pickup or drop-off is usually right from their driveway in the RM of Hanover. Pro tip: ask your host about a pre-stocked starter kit, many include coffee, dish soap, and toilet chemicals to save you a Steinbach shopping run.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Mitchell%2C+ManitobaHow do payments and security deposits work for a Mitchell RV rental?
Payment on RVezy is straightforward and secure: you pay through the platform with a credit card when you book, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the trip, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid any deposit issues on your Mitchell RV trip, take date-stamped photos of the interior and exterior at pickup and drop-off, return the rig with the fuel and propane levels you started with, and dump the tanks if your host requests it. Smooth returns are the norm here.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksAre there cold-weather RV rentals available in Mitchell for winter trips?
Yes, a small but growing number of four-season RVs in Mitchell are built for Manitoba winters, with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, upgraded insulation, and high-output furnaces. Winter rentals shine for ice-fishing trips on Lake Winnipeg, snowmobiling weekends in the Sandilands, or aurora-viewing nights when the prairie skies put on a show. Plan for January and February averages near -18 degrees Celsius with overnight lows that can hit -30 degrees Celsius, so you will want shore power at your site to run the furnace efficiently. Filter for winter-ready rigs and message hosts to confirm cold-weather readiness. Pro tip: book a site with 30-amp electrical at a private campground that stays open year-round.
