This was my first ever experience camping in a camper. I must admit I has some anxious feelings but once I started communicating with Dwayne all was relieved. He explained all the camper functions and how to use them. He set up the camper to our specific needs. Great guy to deal with. The camper itself was all anyone would need and more. Nice kitchen area and 2 beds big enough for each adult. It was clean and ready to use. I have to say that I was very impressed with Dwayne and enjoyed every moment of our transaction. Thank you for all your help.

The van was very similar to driving a car. Tyler was available by phone and text, though we didn't need much help as he provided detailed instructions and everything was well designed and easy to operate. The pick up and drop off were great too as he was very flexible. We had a great time and the dog loved it too!

Renting this RV was a positive experience. Bryan and his wife made the process incredibly smooth, providing a very upkept RV. Though I only needed it overnight, (for an event) it was very well stocked with everything needed for an extended trip. I marked 5 stars for communication because he was so helpful and excellent to ensure everything went smoothly. This of course made pickup/drop-off a breeze, and the RV drove beautifully. HIGHLY recommended for a hassle-free, comfortable adventure. Thanks again Bryan.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Leamington, ON

How much does an RV rental in Leamington typically cost?

RV rental in Leamington is one of the more affordable getaways in southern Ontario. Expect roughly CAD $125 to $200 per night for travel trailers, $175 to $275 for Class C motorhomes, and $250 or more for larger Class A coaches. Shoulder weeks in April, early June, and September often unlock the best deals, while May (the Festival of Birds at Point Pelee) and July to August book up fast at higher rates. To score a cheap RV rental in Leamington, search mid-week pickups, filter by Instant Book, and consider trailers if your tow vehicle qualifies. Bundling delivery with a longer stay often saves more than chasing the lowest nightly rate.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Leamington, Ontario?

Great news, a standard Ontario Class G driver's license (or your home province/state equivalent) is all you need to rent an RV in Leamington. There's no special RV endorsement or commercial license required for motorhomes and trailers on RVezy, even for Class A or Class C rigs. You'll need to be 25 or older, and visitors from outside Canada should bring their valid home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) if your license isn't in English or French. RVezy verifies your ID right inside the app, so the whole process takes minutes. First time renting an RV? You're in good company in Leamington, where Point Pelee draws thousands of first-timers each spring.

Is RV insurance and roadside assistance included with my Leamington RV rental?

Yes, every RVezy booking in Leamington includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance. You choose your protection tier at checkout (not the host), with multiple levels available so you can match coverage to your trip. The plan provides meaningful financial protection for covered damage to the RV. If you get a flat on County Road 33 or need a tow heading back from the Pelee Island ferry in Kingsville, one phone call gets help dispatched. Pick your protection tier at booking and you are set for your Leamington RV trip.

What is the cancellation policy if my Leamington trip plans change?

Booking your Leamington RV trip is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the individual host), and every booking includes a grace-period window after confirmation when you can cancel for a full refund. After that, refund amounts depend on how far out from your trip date you cancel. You will see the exact terms during checkout before you pay. If a spring birding forecast looks rough, message your host early. Many are happy to shift dates so you can catch peak migration at Point Pelee instead.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Leamington?

Yes, pet-friendly RV rentals in Leamington are easy to find. Turn on the Pet-Friendly filter when searching and you will see plenty of hosts who welcome four-legged co-pilots, sometimes with a small cleaning fee. On the road, dogs are welcome on a leash (maximum 3 metres) on most trails at Point Pelee National Park, with some sensitive areas restricted seasonally. Seacliff Park beach in Leamington has a dedicated off-leash area, and Hillman Marsh Conservation Area allows leashed dogs. Pack a collapsible water bowl: summer humidity along Lake Erie's south shore can hit 30°C, and shaded breaks make all the difference.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Leamington?

Yes, RV delivery in Leamington is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters who would rather skip towing or driving a larger rig. Many local hosts will deliver, level, and set up the RV at Sturgeon Woods Campground, Wheatley Provincial Park, Leisure Lake Resort, or a private driveway, then walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees typically range from $2 to $4 per kilometre round-trip from the host's location. Filter listings by Delivery to see hosts offering this service. Booking a delivered setup near Point Pelee is the easiest way to skip the stress entirely.

How far can I drive on an RV rental from Leamington?

You have plenty of range for a Leamington RV trip. Most hosts include between 100 and 200 kilometres per night, and many offer unlimited mileage add-ons (overage fees typically run $0.30 to $0.50 per extra km). That is more than enough for popular loops: Point Pelee National Park is about 10 km south, the Pelee Island ferry from Kingsville is about 15 km west, Windsor and the Detroit border are roughly 50 km northwest, Long Point Provincial Park is about 200 km east, and Niagara Falls is roughly 400 km away. Look for the unlimited-mileage tag on listings if you are planning a longer Lake Erie shoreline tour. Ask hosts about weekly mileage packages, they are often the best value.

Where are the best campgrounds near Leamington for an RV trip?

You are spoiled for choice when RV camping in Leamington. Top picks include Point Pelee National Park's Camp Henry (oTENTik glamping, no RV hookups, about 10 minutes from downtown), Sturgeon Woods Campground & Marina on Mersea Road C (full hookups, pool, close to the park), Wheatley Provincial Park (electrical sites on Lake Erie, about 20 minutes east), Leisure Lake Resort (family-friendly with full hookups), and Holiday Harbour Campground on the lake. For Pelee Island adventures, East Park Family Campground on the island is a short ferry ride away. Point Pelee's most coveted dates around the May Festival of Birds open through the Parks Canada reservation system in January and sell out quickly.

When is the best time to visit Leamington in an RV?

Leamington has one of the longest comfortable RV seasons in Canada thanks to its position as the southernmost mainland town in the country. Mid-April through late October is prime, with average highs near 12°C in April, 26 to 28°C in July and August, and 18 to 22°C in September. May is legendary for the Festival of Birds at Point Pelee, when warblers fill the trees. Late August through early October brings the monarch butterfly migration, one of Ontario's most magical wildlife spectacles. Winters dip to around minus 5°C with occasional lake-effect snow, but a few winterized rentals do operate. Shoulder seasons offer the best value with bird and butterfly bonuses.

I have never driven an RV before. How does pickup work in Leamington?

You are going to do great. Every RVezy host in Leamington provides a full hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the engine, propane, water, slide-outs, awning, and waste systems before you leave the driveway. Many area hosts specialize in first-time renters heading to Point Pelee, so they are patient with questions. If you would rather skip driving altogether, choose a host offering RV delivery in Leamington and they will handle setup at your campground. Message the host before booking with any concerns. Arrive 30 to 45 minutes early for pickup so you are not rushed, and record the walkthrough on your phone for easy reference once you are at the campsite.

What happens if something breaks down during my Leamington RV trip?

You are never alone on the road. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 3, a dead battery at Wheatley Provincial Park, or a propane issue at Sturgeon Woods is one phone call away from help. The roadside team coordinates tows, jump-starts, lockout service, and tire changes across Ontario. For mechanical questions, your host is usually a quick text away too, since most live within 30 minutes of Leamington. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Snap a photo of the RV's VIN and the roadside number before leaving the pickup spot so it is instantly handy.

Can I take my Leamington RV rental across the border into the United States?

Cross-border travel is often allowed for an RV road trip from Leamington, but you need to confirm with your specific host before booking since it depends on their coverage. The Ambassador Bridge and Detroit-Windsor Tunnel are about 50 km away, making Michigan day trips and longer US tours genuinely doable. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. If you are planning a cross-border itinerary, message the host from the listing page and ask about US travel. Many Windsor-Essex hosts say yes for trips to Michigan, Ohio's Lake Erie shore, or further afield. Bring your passport, vehicle registration copy, and a printout of your RVezy booking confirmation to keep the border crossing smooth.

What should I budget for fuel on a Leamington RV road trip?

Fuel is easier to budget than you might think. Ontario gas prices typically run CAD $1.45 to $1.75 per litre, and most Class C motorhomes use about 18 to 22 litres per 100 km, while Class B campervans and smaller trailers do significantly better. A weekend loop from Leamington to Point Pelee, Kingsville's wineries, and back is usually under $50 in fuel. A longer RV road trip from Leamington to Niagara Falls and back (about 800 km round-trip) runs roughly $130 to $180. Fill up at Costco in Windsor or local stations in Leamington for the best prices, and use the GasBuddy app to track real-time pump prices.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Leamington?

Book early to lock in your favourite spot. Point Pelee National Park's oTENTiks at Camp Henry open through the Parks Canada Reservation System each January and sell out within hours, especially for the May Festival of Birds. Wheatley Provincial Park opens reservations through Ontario Parks five months ahead on a rolling daily basis. Private parks like Sturgeon Woods, Leisure Lake Resort, and Campers Cove in nearby Wheatley take bookings year-round, but July and August weekends fill by April. For shoulder-season trips in April or October, you can often grab sites a week or two out. Set a calendar reminder for early January and pounce the moment Parks Canada opens spring dates.

What are the local driving conditions like around Leamington?

Driving in Leamington is refreshingly easy compared to bigger Ontario cities. The terrain is flat farmland and lakeshore, roads like Highway 3, Seacliff Drive, and Point Pelee Drive are wide and well-maintained, and traffic is light outside the May birding rush. Watch for slow-moving farm equipment in greenhouse country (Leamington is known as the tomato capital of Canada), and be cautious of fog along Lake Erie in spring and fall mornings. Winter brings occasional lake-effect snow squalls, usually cleared quickly by Essex County crews. Highway 401 is about 30 minutes north if you are heading toward Toronto. Avoid the Point Pelee park entrance road at sunrise during May migration: arrive by 6 a.m. or after 10 a.m. to skip the queue.

What amenities can I expect at Leamington area campgrounds?

Local campgrounds make RV life simple. Most Leamington-area parks like Sturgeon Woods, Leisure Lake Resort, Campers Cove, and Holiday Harbour offer 30 and 50 amp electric, water, sewer hookups, hot showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi near the main lodge. Sturgeon Woods has its own dump station and pool. Wheatley Provincial Park offers electrical sites and a dump station with potable water fills near the entrance. Point Pelee's Camp Henry has shared washrooms and potable water but no RV hookups. For dump and fill needs in town, Sturgeon Woods offers day-use access for a small fee. Top off fresh water before heading to Pelee Island via the ferry, fills on the island are limited.

What features come standard on RVs you can rent in Leamington?

Leamington RV rentals come well-equipped for comfort. Expect a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower in most Class B, C, and trailer models, sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on size, propane heat, roof-mounted AC, and seatbelts for passengers in motorized rigs. Many listings include outdoor speakers, awnings, TVs, and onboard generators for off-grid stays near Point Pelee day-use areas. Wi-Fi hotspots and solar packages appear on premium listings. Filter for Sleeps 6 or higher if you are planning a family RV trip Leamington-style. Confirm whether the listing includes linens and a kitchen kit. Many hosts include them free while others charge a small add-on fee.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Leamington%2C%20Ontario

What add-ons and pickup options are available with a motorhome rental in Leamington?

Hosts in Leamington offer a great mix of add-ons that customize your trip. Common extras include kitchen kits ($25 to $50), bedding packages ($15 to $30 per person), camping chairs and tables, BBQ grills, bike racks, generators, Wi-Fi hotspots, and even kayaks (handy for paddling near Point Pelee's Marsh Boardwalk). Pickup is usually at the host's home address in Leamington, Kingsville, or Wheatley, with most offering afternoon check-in and late-morning drop-off. Mileage policies range from 100 km per night to fully unlimited. If you are planning a campervan rental Leamington-style for birding, ask for binoculars or a spotting scope. A surprising number of local hosts are birders themselves.

How does payment and the security deposit work for a Leamington RV rental?

Payment on RVezy is simple and secure. You pay through the platform with a credit card at booking, and your card is charged in stages (a portion at booking, the balance before pickup) so there are no surprises. A refundable security deposit, set by the host and separate from your booking payment, is pre-authorized on your card before your trip and released after drop-off, assuming the RV comes back in good shape. No cash changes hands with the host. Do a thorough walkaround video at pickup and drop-off, narrating any pre-existing scuffs. It is the easiest way to protect your deposit and keep the handover smooth for your next Leamington RV trip.
