Our family had a great experience with the Solis. Perfect size for us and drives efficiently. Can easily park almost anywhere and has relatively good road manners for a vehicle it's size. It was clean and well equipped for any adventure you may have. Sarah and her husband were a pleasure to deal with. Hight recommended. 5 stars!

Great experience and such a helpful and friendly host. Troy is the friendliest guy you’ll meet and Shadi is super responsive. The Llama was clean and lived up to its name of no drama. Everything worked as it should and especially the sleeping arrangements was comfortable and spacious. You’re glamping on a roadtrip, what more could you ask for?

We had a great experience with Frank! The RV was a perfect match for a family of 4 (7 and 8 year old children), large enough to be very comfortable, yet small enough both in width and in length to be easy to drive and park (will essentially fit in a standard parking space width, with a bit of the tail sticking out). It had everything we needed for the trip. The chassis is Mercedes-Benz, with Diesel engine, reasonably fuel miser, and we really appreciated the cruise control and the backup camera. Frank was extremely patient and spend a good amount of time to familiarize us with the RV; he was easy to reach and a pleasure to deal with. On the way back we were already starting to discuss where we would like to take this RV next time we will rent it, which we hope is going to be soon!

Can I bring my dog on an RV trip from Burney?

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Burney is easy to find on RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see hosts who welcome four-legged co-pilots. Once you're in town, dogs are welcome at the McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park campground (on leash), but they're not allowed on the trails near the falls or on the swim beach at Lake Britton. Pacific Crest Trail sections through Lassen National Forest are dog-friendly and far less crowded. Pro tip: Hat Creek Hereford Ranch RV Park and the Burney Falls/Hat Creek KOA both happily welcome pets.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Burney?

Yes, RV delivery in Burney is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. To book it, filter listings by Delivery, then message the host with your campsite number and dates. Delivery fees are usually based on distance from the host's location. Pro tip: delivery is gold at Burney Falls State Park, which caps RVs at 32 feet, your host will know exactly which rigs fit.

How far can I drive on a Burney RV rental, and what about mileage limits?

Where are the best campgrounds near Burney, CA?

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Burney. The headliner is McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park (six miles north on Highway 89), with around 121 campsites a short walk from the 129-foot falls. The Burney Falls/Hat Creek KOA Holiday offers full-hookup pull-throughs, a fishing pond, and a camp store. Hat Creek Hereford Ranch RV Park sits right on Hat Creek with legendary trout fishing, and Cassel Forebay (PG&E Recreation) and Northshore Campground on Lake Britton offer quieter, water-adjacent sites. For Lassen-bound trips, Manzanita Lake Campground inside the national park is unbeatable. Pro tip: book Burney Falls State Park exactly six months out at 8 a.m. on ReserveCalifornia, summer weekends sell out within minutes.
reservecalifornia.com/

When is the best time of year for an RV trip to Burney?

The sweet spot for an RV trip from Burney is late May through early October, when daytime highs sit around 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and nights cool to a crisp 40 to 50 degrees at the park's roughly 3,000-foot elevation. June and September are the magic months: warm days, lighter crowds, and easier access. Note that Burney Falls State Park has launched a day-use reservation pilot for Friday through Sunday and holidays from May 15 through September 27, so plan ahead. July and August are spectacular but hot and busy. Fall brings golden aspens along Hat Creek and easy first-come, first-served campsites after Labor Day. Winter is quieter but expect snow at higher elevations. Pro tip: aim for the second week of September, summer crowds fade but every business is still open.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay around Burney?

You'll do great, Burney is honestly one of the friendlier places in California for first time renting an RV. Highway 89 and Highway 299 are wide, well-paved two-lane roads with light traffic outside of summer weekends, and there's no urban congestion to worry about. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup: how to use the slide-outs, level the rig, hook up shore power, and dump tanks. You can also message the host any time during your trip with questions. Pro tip: do a practice loop on Highway 299 between Burney and Fall River Mills before heading into Lassen, you'll build confidence on a quiet, scenic stretch with almost no traffic.

What happens if the RV breaks down during my Burney trip?

Take a deep breath, you're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 89 or a dead battery at Lake Britton is one phone call away from being handled. Cell service is spotty around Burney Falls and inside Lassen Volcanic National Park, so save the roadside number in your phone before you leave Burney town (where Verizon and AT&T signal is reliable). Your host is also a quick text away and often knows the closest mechanic. Pro tip: top off fuel and check tire pressure in Burney itself, the next reliable service stations are 30 plus miles away in any direction.

What are the best RV road trip routes from Burney?

An RV road trip from Burney is basically a greatest-hits tour of Northern California volcanic country. Run the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway south on Highway 89 to Lassen Volcanic National Park (about 1 hour) for boiling mud pots and Manzanita Lake. Head northwest to Mount Shasta and McCloud Falls (about 75 minutes). Loop east to Lava Beds National Monument (about 2 hours) for lava-tube caves. Drop south to Redding's Sundial Bridge and Whiskeytown Lake (about 1 hour 15 minutes). For a longer haul, Crater Lake National Park in Oregon is roughly 4 hours north. Mexico travel is not allowed on RVezy rentals, but cross-state trips into Oregon are fine, just confirm with your host. Pro tip: do the Shasta-Lassen-Burney triangle as a 5-day loop.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Burney RV trip?

Fuel is the biggest variable on any motorhome rental Burney trip, so let's get real with numbers. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 10 miles per gallon, Class A rigs around 7 to 9 mpg, and campervans 15 to 18 mpg. Travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Gas in the Burney/Shasta County area usually runs 30 to 50 cents per gallon higher than urban California prices, so fuel up in Redding before heading east on Highway 299 if you can. For a typical 3-day, 300-mile loop through Lassen and Burney Falls in a Class C, plan on roughly $130 to $170 in fuel. Pro tip: the Chevron and Shell stations in downtown Burney are the last competitively priced fill-ups before Lassen.

How far in advance should I book a campsite near Burney?

For peak summer (mid-May through Labor Day), book the moment the six-month window opens at 8 a.m. Pacific on ReserveCalifornia.com, McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park sells out for July and August weekends within minutes. The Burney Falls/Hat Creek KOA and Hat Creek Hereford Ranch take reservations 12-plus months out and are slightly easier to grab. From Labor Day through mid-May, the state park switches to first-come, first-served and is rarely full. PG&E's Cassel and Northshore campgrounds along Lake Britton are bookable through Recreation.gov. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly six months before your trip date, log in five minutes early, and have your dates and rig length (under 32 feet for the state park) ready.

What are driving conditions like around Burney?

Driving around Burney is genuinely pleasant: two-lane mountain highways, light traffic, and gorgeous scenery, but a few local quirks are worth knowing. Highway 89 north to Burney Falls has a slow climb and one tight curve about a mile before the park entrance. Highway 299 east toward Fall River Mills is open and easy. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk year-round, and be aware that summer thunderstorms can dump heavy rain quickly. From November through April, snow chains may be required on Highway 89 toward Lassen and Highway 44, Caltrans posts live chain controls. Smoke from late-summer wildfires can also affect visibility. Pro tip: check QuickMap from Caltrans before you leave Burney each morning for real-time road conditions.
quickmap.dot.ca.gov/

What hookups and amenities will I find at campgrounds near Burney?

You've got options across the spectrum. The Burney Falls/Hat Creek KOA Holiday offers full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric), Wi-Fi near the office, hot showers, and a camp store. Hat Creek Hereford Ranch RV Park has full hookups plus creekside fishing. McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park has an on-site dump station, flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water spigots, but most sites are dry with no hookups (sites accommodate RVs up to 32 feet). PG&E's Cassel and Northshore campgrounds are mostly dry, which is perfect if your rental has a generator and full freshwater tank. Pro tip: top off freshwater and dump tanks at the state park's sani-station before heading into Lassen, where most campgrounds are hookup-free.
parks.ca.gov/?page_id=455

What's typically included inside a Burney RV rental?

You'll feel right at home, most RVezy rentals near Burney come fully equipped for a comfortable Cascades getaway. Expect real beds (queen or king in the bedroom plus convertible dinette/sofa beds), a kitchen with fridge/freezer, stovetop, microwave, and basic cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, air conditioning, propane heat, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many hosts include a TV, generator for boondocking near Lake Britton, outdoor camp chairs, and a propane grill. Wi-Fi hotspots, bedding kits, and kitchen kits are common add-ons listed right on the booking page. Pro tip: prioritize a rig with a strong heater and a generator, even July nights at 3,000 feet drop into the 40s, and PG&E lakeside sites have no shore power.
rvezy.com/rv-rentals/destination/united-states/california

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about for a Burney rental?

RVezy hosts in the Burney and greater Shasta County area offer some genuinely useful add-ons: delivery and setup, generator use, bedding and towel kits, kitchen packages, camp chairs and tables, bike racks, and pet kits. Pickup is typically at the host's home or a meeting point in Burney, Redding, or Anderson; many also offer drop-off at McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park or the Burney Falls/Hat Creek KOA. Mileage policies are listed on each listing (often 100 free miles per night, with unlimited-mileage options available). Generator hours are usually 2 to 4 hours free per day. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a bedding kit, you'll arrive at your campsite with the rig set up and the beds made, which is a dream for a family RV trip in Burney.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure, you pay through RVezy's platform with a credit or debit card at booking (never directly to the host), which protects you on every transaction. Bookings typically split into a deposit at booking and the remaining balance closer to your trip start. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card a few days before pickup; the exact amount is shown on each listing and is released back to you after the trip, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid any deposit issues, take date-stamped photos and a quick walkaround video at pickup and dropoff, return the rig with the same fuel and propane levels, and dump the tanks if the host asks. Pro tip: message your host the morning of pickup to confirm the dump station and fuel expectations, clarity now means a fast deposit refund later.
