2021 Heartland Travel Trailer
This is the second time I've rented from Timmy. The first time was so easy and communication was so great that I wanted a repeat experience, which is what I got. I'll be renting again in a couple of months.

2021 Heartland Travel Trailer
I rented from Timmy because we needed additional space at a family gathering. My experience with Timmy was top-notch from beginning to end. When I arrived late at night my trailer was set up and ready for me. It was very clean and as pictured with everything working the way it should. When I needed to communicate, Timmy was easy to reach. For several nights of my one-week stay I was joined by 3 more family members. It worked perfectly for us but couldn't have managed another person comfortably. There is very limited storage space but I think that's true of all campers of this sort. I used the bed in the main bedroom which was very comfortable. My family enjoyed streaming on the TV. The temperature dropped below freezing for several days but the propane heat kept me comfy (although the water lines did freeze which I don't think could be avoided). I am very happy with my choice to rent this camper. It allowed me to stay on the property where the event was happening and not in a hotel 20 minutes away. Timmy was super easy to work with and very responsive. The trailer became a little home away from home. I plan on renting it again if we have another gathering.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Columbus, MS

How much does an RV rental in Columbus, MS typically cost?

Great news for budget travelers: an RV rental in Columbus, MS is one of the most affordable ways to explore the Magnolia State. Travel trailers in the Columbus area typically run $90 to $160 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $275 per night, and luxury Class A rigs can reach $300+. Cheap RV rental Columbus options multiply midweek, when many hosts knock 10 to 20 percent off nightly rates. Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Columbus, MS?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Columbus, MS, even for big Class A motorhomes. Mississippi does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for personal RV use. You'll just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? Grab an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto association before you fly into Golden Triangle Regional Airport (GTR), and you're set. Pro tip: fill up at the Murphy USA or Sam's Club on Highway 45 before heading out, usually the cheapest in town.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Columbus?

Plan ahead and you'll snag the best spots. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds like Dewayne Hayes and Town Creek take reservations through Recreation.gov up to 6 months in advance, and waterfront sites sell out 2 to 3 months ahead for spring and fall weekends. Lake Lowndes State Park reservations go through the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) website and are usually available 4 to 6 weeks out except during MSU home football weekends, when Starkville-area overflow fills everything fast. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) give you the pick of the prettiest pull-through sites overlooking Columbus Lake, often at lower nightly rates.

What are driving conditions like around Columbus, MS?

Driving here is refreshingly relaxed. Columbus sits at the junction of Highway 82 and Highway 45, both wide four-lane routes with gentle terrain, light traffic, and no mountain passes, perfect for first-time RVers. Watch for occasional log trucks heading to local mills and slow down for the short bridges crossing the Tombigbee. Summer afternoons can bring sudden thunderstorms with heavy rain, so pull off at a rest area if visibility drops. Avoid the narrow side streets in the historic district downtown with a larger rig; stick to Main Street and Highway 45 for easy navigation. Pro tip: GTR Airport and the Highway 82 bypass make a great staging area for pickup and unloading without tight turns.

Lake Lowndes State Park adds a fishing pier, disc golf, and hiking trails. Free dump stations are available at most Corps of Engineers sites for registered campers.
