2020 Jayco Travel Trailer
The camper was well stocked, clean, and comfortable. This is the 2nd time we rented from mike and he is very accommodating. Next time ill have to remember not to pack so much. They even thought of is when the nights got cold and brought us another propane tank, just in case, and we didnt even have to ask. Thanks Mike, for another wonderful fall adventure.

2023 Forest River Travel Trailer
From the beginning of my inquiry, Michael was very communicative and prompt. Booking of their trailer was very easy. He walked me through every portion of the trailer and allowed me to come in advance to ensure I knew how to operate everything. The cleanliness of the camper was above par! They had everything one could need on a camping trip and all I had to bring was food and clothes - they took care of everything else (e.g., linens, towels, soap, dishes, etc.). Easy, relaxing experience!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Northern Cambria, PA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Northern Cambria, PA?
RV rental in Northern Cambria is one of the most affordable ways to explore central Pennsylvania's lake country. On RVezy, you'll typically find travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes from roughly $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A rigs from about $250 and up. Because hosts set their own pricing, weekday bookings and shoulder-season trips (late April or late September) often unlock the best deals. Pro tip: search for a cheap RV rental in Northern Cambria with delivery included to skip towing fees entirely, and book Sunday-through-Thursday stays at Prince Gallitzin State Park where campsite rates also drop. Filter by Instant Book to lock in your dates fast.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Northern%20Cambria%2C%20PennsylvaniaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Pennsylvania?
Great news for first-timers: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent the vast majority of RVs in Pennsylvania. PennDOT only requires a Non-Commercial Class B license for single vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,001 pounds, and almost every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer on RVezy falls well under that limit. You'll need to be 25 or older to book, and RVezy verifies your ID directly through the platform during checkout. Visiting from another country? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association. That's it, you're cleared to hit Route 22 toward Glendale Lake.
dmv.pa.gov/Driver-Services/Driver-Licensing/Pages/default.aspxWhat protection comes with my Northern Cambria RV rental?
You're covered from the moment you book. Every rent an RV in Northern Cambria booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so a flat tire on Route 219 or a battery issue at Crooked Run Campground is just a phone call away. During checkout you'll choose your protection level (RVezy sets the available tiers, not the host), which covers most damages to the vehicle and gives you real financial peace of mind. It isn't traditional auto insurance, but it's purpose-built for peer-to-peer RV rentals. Pro tip: review the coverage options carefully before confirming so you can relax once you're parked lakeside and focus on the trip, not the paperwork.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if my plans change? Can I cancel my Northern Cambria RV rental?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, and there's a money-back grace period right after you book so you can change your mind without stress. After that, your refund depends on factors like how far out your trip start date is and whether unusual circumstances such as severe weather come into play (think the kind of nor'easter snowstorms that can hit the Allegheny Plateau in late winter). The exact policy details are shown on the RVezy website at checkout. Pro tip: book early to secure the best Glendale Lake sites, knowing you have flexibility if plans shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Northern Cambria RV trip?
Yes, plenty of tails are wagging in Cambria County. Filter for a pet-friendly RV rental in Northern Cambria on RVezy and you'll find dozens of hosts who welcome furry co-pilots, sometimes with a small cleaning fee. Once you arrive, Prince Gallitzin State Park has designated pet-friendly campsites and pet swimming areas, and dogs are allowed on the park's 32+ miles of trails when leashed. Cabins #1, #9, and #10 in the park even permit up to two dogs. The Ghost Town Trail (a 36-mile rail-trail running through Cambria and Indiana counties) is another favorite leashed-dog adventure. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet details and ask about a fenced yard for delivery setups.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/prince-gallitzin-state-park/stay.htmlCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Northern Cambria?
Yes, and this is a game-changer for first-time renters. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Northern Cambria, meaning they'll tow the trailer or drive the motorhome straight to your campsite at Prince Gallitzin State Park, Duman Lake County Park, or a private campground, then level it, hook up utilities, and walk you through everything. No towing experience required, no white-knuckling Route 53 with a fifth wheel behind you. Delivery fees vary by host and distance (typically a flat fee plus a per-mile charge beyond a set radius). Pro tip: use the Delivery filter on RVezy and message the host with your exact campsite number, you'll often save more than you'd pay in fuel and stress.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Northern%20Cambria%2C%20PennsylvaniaHow far can I drive on my Northern Cambria RV trip?
You can cover serious ground from Northern Cambria. Each host sets their own mileage policy on RVezy: many include 100 to 150 free miles per night, while some offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage (especially for stationary or delivered rentals). Popular drives from town include Prince Gallitzin State Park (15 miles), Altoona and the Horseshoe Curve (35 miles), Johnstown Flood National Memorial (40 miles), Raystown Lake (80 miles), Pittsburgh (90 miles), and the Laurel Highlands and Ohiopyle State Park (110 miles). Pro tip: if you're planning a true RV road trip from Northern Cambria, filter listings by unlimited mileage or message hosts for a custom package, it's often cheaper than paying overage fees.
penndot.pa.gov/Pages/default.aspxWhere are the best campgrounds near Northern Cambria for RV camping?
You've got excellent options just minutes from town. Top picks include Prince Gallitzin State Park's main campground (about 400 sites, many with electric hookups on 1,635-acre Glendale Lake, roughly 15 miles east), Glendale Valley Campground (private, family-run, near Flinton), Duman Lake County Park (rustic and quiet, about 12 miles south), and Yellow Creek State Park (electric sites, roughly 30 miles southwest). RV camping in Northern Cambria centers on lake access, hiking, and fishing for bass, pike, and muskellunge. Pro tip: Prince Gallitzin books up fast for summer weekends, especially waterfront loops, so reserve as early as the booking window allows through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/prince-gallitzin-state-park/stay.htmlWhen is the best time of year for a Northern Cambria RV trip?
Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot. Summers on the Allegheny Plateau are mild, with average highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and cool evenings perfect for campfires, while September and early October deliver brilliant fall foliage across the hardwood forests around Glendale Lake. Spring (April to early May) is quieter with highs in the 50s and 60s, ideal for trout fishing and birdwatching. Winter brings snow and freezing temps, so most private campgrounds close, though Prince Gallitzin State Park stays open year-round for hardy campers and ice fishers. Pro tip: book the last week of September for fall colors and post-Labor Day rates.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You'll be more than okay, first-time renting an RV is genuinely easier than people expect. Every RVezy host does a full walkthrough at pickup: how to operate the slide-outs, run the generator, dump tanks, hook up to shore power, and use the propane stove and furnace. They'll share their cell number too, so a quick text gets you answers from the road. Stick to a Class B campervan or Class C motorhome for your first trip; they drive much like a large van or U-Haul. Pro tip: pick a destination close to home for night one, Prince Gallitzin State Park is only a 20-minute drive from Northern Cambria, so you can practice setup before tackling longer routes.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/things-to-do/camping.htmlWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV on the road?
You're never stuck alone. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing. Your host is also typically a quick text or call away, and RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip through the Help Center. Cell service is generally solid along US-22, I-99, and PA-219 corridors near Northern Cambria, though it can get spotty deeper in state forest areas. Pro tip: snap a photo of your RV's VIN, license plate, and propane shut-off location before you leave the driveway, it makes any service call go faster.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Northern Cambria RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome and easy. Northern Cambria sits in a sweet spot for multi-state RV road trips, you can roll into Maryland (Deep Creek Lake, about 100 miles), West Virginia (Blackwater Falls, 140 miles), Ohio (Cuyahoga Valley, 150 miles), or New York's Finger Lakes (220 miles) without leaving the marketplace insurance footprint. Canada trips may be permitted depending on the specific host and protection package, so message before booking if you're aiming for Niagara Falls or beyond. Travel to Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because the protection package doesn't extend there. Pro tip: confirm cross-border plans in writing with your host through the RVezy message thread, that documentation keeps everything smooth.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and what does gas cost around here?
Budget realistically and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Most Class C motorhomes near Northern Cambria get around 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A rigs run 6 to 10 MPG, campervans (Class B) hit 14 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a bit above the national average due to state fuel taxes, so a fill-up at the Sheetz or GetGo on US-219 in Northern Cambria is worth a quick GasBuddy check. For a 4-day trip with 300 miles of driving in a Class C, plan on roughly $130 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: top off in Ebensburg or Carrolltown rather than at highway exits, prices are usually a few cents lower.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Northern Cambria?
Earlier is better, but you've got more flexibility than you'd think. Prince Gallitzin State Park accepts reservations up to 11 months ahead through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system, and lakefront sites sell out months in advance for summer weekends and holidays. Private campgrounds like Glendale Valley often have midweek openings even in July. For fall foliage weekends (late September through mid-October), aim to book by July. Pro tip: weekday arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) are dramatically easier to score, and the park sometimes releases first-come sites at the office, worth a quick call if you're flexible.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/prince-gallitzin-state-park/stay.htmlWhat are the driving conditions like around Northern Cambria?
Driving here is mostly relaxing rural backroads with a few mountain grades to respect. Northern Cambria sits at about 1,500 feet elevation on the Allegheny Plateau, so expect rolling hills, winding two-lane roads like PA-36 and PA-53, and steeper climbs on US-22 over the Allegheny Front near Cresson. Traffic is light outside of Altoona and Johnstown rush hours. Winter brings snow, ice, and occasional lake-effect squalls (November through March), so most renters stick to May through October. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk, especially near state game lands. Pro tip: take I-99 instead of US-22 when heading to Altoona in a tall rig, the grades are gentler and there's more shoulder room.
penndot.pa.gov/RegionalOffices/district-9/Pages/default.aspxWhat amenities will I find at local campgrounds, and where can I dump tanks or fill water?
You're well-supported here. Prince Gallitzin State Park's Crooked Run Campground offers electric and full-hookup sites (sewer, water, 50-amp electric on select loops), modern shower houses on every loop, a dump station, potable water fill stations, a beach, and a camp store. Most private campgrounds in Cambria County offer similar amenities plus laundry and Wi-Fi. If you're boondocking or staying at a no-hookup site, the dump station at Prince Gallitzin is open to registered campers, and many Flying J and Pilot truck stops along I-99 near Altoona have public dump access for a small fee. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank before leaving the campground, fill stations on remote backroads are rare.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/prince-gallitzin-state-park.htmlWhat features and amenities are inside a typical Northern Cambria RV rental?
Today's RVs are basically apartments on wheels. Expect a queen or king bed in the master, convertible dinettes and couches that sleep additional guests, a full kitchen with a propane stove, fridge/freezer, and microwave, a bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning and a furnace for chilly Allegheny nights, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many motorhome rentals in Northern Cambria also include a generator, awning, and outdoor accessories. Listings show exact sleep counts and amenities, so filter by sleep count and the features that matter most. Pro tip: confirm whether bedding, towels, and kitchen supplies are included, some hosts provide full setups while others offer them as add-ons.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Northern%20Cambria%2C%20PennsylvaniaWhat add-ons can I get, and how do pickup and drop-off work?
Hosts love making your trip easier with optional extras. Common add-ons for a campervan rental Northern Cambria or motorhome rental Northern Cambria include linens and towel packages, camp chairs and tables, generators, propane refills, bike racks, fishing gear, kids' bedding, and pet kits. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Northern Cambria with a 60-to-90-minute walkthrough, or arrange delivery straight to Prince Gallitzin State Park. Drop-off mirrors pickup unless you've agreed on delivery both ways. Mileage policies are listed on each listing (typically 100-150 free miles per night, with per-mile overage fees). Pro tip: ask about generator hours included in the price, some hosts include a few hours per day free, which matters for hot August nights running the AC.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Northern%20Cambria%2C%20PennsylvaniaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book your RV rental Pennsylvania trip through RVezy, you'll pay through the platform (never directly to the host) using a credit card, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment before pickup, with amounts varying by RV value, and it's released after drop-off assuming no damage or extra cleaning is needed. Final rental costs include the nightly rate, service fees, taxes, your chosen protection plan, and any add-ons or mileage overages. Pro tip: do a quick walk-around video with the host at pickup and drop-off, time-stamped footage protects your deposit and makes any post-trip questions easy to resolve.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a great Northern Cambria insider trip idea for a family RV trip?
Here's a local favorite for a family RV trip Northern Cambria: base yourself at Prince Gallitzin State Park (about 15 minutes from town), spend day one swimming at the park beach and renting a boat at the marina, day two exploring the Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site in Gallitzin (a National Park Service site about 25 miles south with the historic Lemon House and Skew Arch Bridge), and day three biking part of the 36-mile Ghost Town Trail through old coal-mining communities. Cap it off with ice cream in Patton or a visit to the Cassandra Railroad Overlook to watch freight trains roll past. Pro tip: pack layers, summer evenings on Glendale Lake can drop into the 50s even in July.
