Jacob was great to work with, the rv was great, simple to set up and operate. Everything needed to hook up water, elect, and sewer was provided, plus some. We towed with a Dodge 2500 4dr, 8’ bed Cummins diesel, towed like a dream with a straight hitch even in the west Texas winds from Arlington TX to Ruisoso NM and back. I was very happy with the RV, and the owner. 5 stars

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Richland Hills, TX

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Richland Hills, TX?

RV rental in Richland Hills is more affordable than most people expect, with travel trailers often starting around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes around $175 to $275, and larger Class A coaches landing between $250 and $400 nightly. Pricing dips noticeably in the Dallas-Fort Worth shoulder seasons (late February to early April and October to November), when temperatures are pleasant and demand cools. To find a cheap RV rental in Richland Hills, use the price filter, look for travel trailers (since you may already have a tow vehicle), and book midweek when many hosts offer reduced rates. Pro tip: booking 6+ weeks ahead of a Texas Motor Speedway race weekend will save you real money.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Richland Hills, Texas?

Good news: a regular Texas Class C driver's license is all you need to drive virtually every RV you can rent in Richland Hills, including big Class A motorhomes and fifth wheels under 26,000 pounds. No Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special RV endorsement is required. You will need to be at least 25 years old to book on RVezy, and we verify your ID right inside the platform, so there is no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from another country? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association. Most first-time renters are surprised how straightforward the process is.

Is RV rental insurance and roadside assistance included for my Richland Hills trip?

Every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road from Richland Hills with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers damage to the RV and is built into every booking, not something the host chooses. At checkout you select the coverage level that fits your trip, whether you are heading out for a quick weekend at Eagle Mountain Lake or a longer Texas RV trip toward Big Bend. If you ever have a flat, dead battery, or mechanical issue along Interstate 820 or out on rural Texas highways, one phone call gets help dispatched. It removes the biggest worry most first-time renters have.

What is the cancellation policy if my Richland Hills RV trip plans change?

Booking is low risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the individual host), and there is a money-back grace period after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Refund eligibility depends on factors like how far out you are from your trip start date and whether unusual circumstances are involved. You will see the full policy details and any applicable timelines during checkout and in your booking confirmation, and if a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds you or provides travel credit. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best RVs for Texas Motor Speedway and Six Flags weekends, knowing flexible cancellation terms are built in.

Can I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Richland Hills?

Yes, pet-friendly RV rental in Richland Hills is easy to find. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page and you will see dozens of hosts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) on board. Richland Hills sits minutes from some genuinely great dog destinations: Northeast Park has shaded trails, and Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge allows leashed pets on most paths. Most local campgrounds, including Vineyards Campground on Grapevine Lake, are dog friendly with designated pet areas. Message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee (commonly $50 to $150 per trip) and breed or size notes. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl for Texas heat.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Richland Hills?

Yes, RV delivery in Richland Hills is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game changer if you are new to RVing or do not want to drive a 30-foot motorhome down Loop 820. Filter by Delivery on the search page and you will find hosts who will tow or drive the RV to your home, a local campground like Cowtown RV Park, or even directly to Texas Motor Speedway for race weekends. They handle the setup, level the rig, connect the hookups, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees typically run $2 to $5 per mile round trip, with many hosts offering free delivery within a set radius. Just message your host with your address to confirm.

How do mileage limits work, and how far can I realistically drive from Richland Hills?

Most Richland Hills hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and many offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage option for road trippers, which you can spot right on the listing. Extra miles typically run $0.30 to $0.50 each. From Richland Hills you are perfectly positioned for an RV road trip from Richland Hills to Broken Bow, Oklahoma (about 215 miles), Hot Springs, Arkansas (around 320 miles), Austin Hill Country (200 miles), Big Bend National Park (560 miles), or Galveston beaches (320 miles). If you are planning a longer haul, message the host before booking and ask about a custom mileage package, which is almost always cheaper than paying per mile after the fact.

Where are the best campgrounds near Richland Hills for RV camping?

You have excellent RV camping near Richland Hills within a 30-minute drive. Cowtown RV Park in Aledo offers full hookups and easy I-30 access west of Fort Worth. Vineyards Campground on Grapevine Lake has waterfront sites with swimming, fishing, and a private beach. Loyd Park on Joe Pool Lake (Grand Prairie) features lakeside pull-throughs and hiking trails. North Park RV Campground in Burleson is a budget-friendly favorite with full hookups. For a Texas state park experience, Cedar Hill State Park on Joe Pool Lake offers 355 campsites with water and electric. Pro tip: Vineyards books out fast for spring and fall weekends, so reserve 60 to 90 days ahead.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Richland Hills?

Honestly, spring (mid-March through May) and fall (late September through November) are the sweet spots in North Texas, with daytime temps in the comfortable 65 to 80 degree range and cool, sleep-perfect nights. Summer brings 95 to 105 degree days and brutal humidity, so if you go in July or August, pick an RV with strong air conditioning and plan early morning drives. Winters are mild (40s to 60s), and many local campgrounds stay open year-round, making December and January a quiet, low-cost season for RV rental Texas adventures. Pro tip: April is wildflower season, and the bluebonnets along Highway 281 south of Fort Worth are worth a detour.

I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay renting in Richland Hills?

You will do great, and you are not alone: most people booking an RV rental in Richland Hills are first time renting an RV. Every host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving tips, hookups, the generator, slide-outs, holding tanks, and everything else you need. If you are nervous about navigating Loop 820 or I-35W in a big rig, start with a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer, or simply book delivery and skip the driving entirely. Hosts stay reachable by phone or message throughout your trip, and RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 and older. Pro tip: do a short shakedown loop through quieter North Richland Hills neighborhoods before heading to the highway, and you will feel confident in 20 minutes.

What happens if something goes wrong on the road during my Richland Hills RV trip?

You are covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat on I-820, your battery dies at a rest stop near Weatherford, or you need a tow, one phone call dispatches help wherever you are in Texas. Your host is also just a message away for quick troubleshooting questions like resetting a circuit breaker or restarting the water pump. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after the trip. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number to your phone contacts before you leave the driveway, and snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN and license plate so you have it ready if you ever need to call.

Can I take my Richland Hills RV rental across state lines or into Mexico?

Yes to other US states, no to Mexico. Most Richland Hills hosts happily allow interstate travel, which makes for an awesome RV road trip from Richland Hills to Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, or Colorado. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because the protection plan and insurance do not extend across the border. If you are heading to Big Bend or El Paso, just stay on the US side of the Rio Grande. Cross-country trips are fine too, just confirm your route and total mileage with the host when booking so they can set up the right mileage package. Pro tip: a popular 7-day loop is Richland Hills to Santa Fe and back, roughly 1,400 miles.

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for an RV trip from Richland Hills?

Plan realistically and you will not be surprised at the pump. Class A motorhomes average 7 to 10 miles per gallon (mpg), Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 mpg, campervans (Class B) 16 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle but expect a 25 to 40 percent drop from its normal mileage. Texas gas prices typically run below the national average, with stations along I-35W and SH-121 in North Richland Hills usually among the cheapest in the metroplex. For a 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C, budget roughly $130 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: fuel up at the Buc-ee's in Denton on your way out, big pumps, easy RV access, and cheap gas.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far ahead should I book a campground for my Richland Hills RV trip?

Book sooner than you think, especially for Texas state parks. Reservations at parks like Cedar Hill, Lake Mineral Wells, Dinosaur Valley, and Ray Roberts Lake open 5 months in advance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system, and prime weekends (March to May, October, holidays) fill within hours. Private parks like Vineyards Campground on Grapevine Lake and Cowtown RV Park typically book 30 to 90 days out. For last-minute trips, weekday arrivals are almost always available. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly 5 months before the Saturday you want, log in at 8 a.m. Central, and you will snag the lakefront site everyone else missed.

What are driving conditions like in and around Richland Hills?

Driving in Richland Hills is very RV-friendly. The city sits right off Loop 820 and SH-121, both of which are wide, modern, and easy to navigate even in a 32-foot motorhome. Avoid downtown Fort Worth's narrow streets and the lower decks of I-30 through the city center where height clearances dip near 13 feet 6 inches. Rush hour on I-35W and 820 (7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.) is best skipped. Spring brings the occasional thunderstorm and rare hail, and summer heat can stress tires, so check pressure before long drives. Pro tip: from Richland Hills you are 90 minutes from quiet Hill Country backroads and Possum Kingdom Lake, where traffic disappears entirely.

What hookups and amenities will I find at campgrounds near Richland Hills?

Most RV parks within an hour of Richland Hills offer full hookups, meaning 30/50 amp electric, fresh water, and sewer right at your site. Cowtown RV Park, Vineyards Campground, and North Park RV all have full hookups, laundry, Wi-Fi, and dump stations. Texas state parks like Cedar Hill and Lake Mineral Wells provide water and electric (no sewer at site), but every park has a centralized dump station and potable water fill. Need to dump or fill mid-trip? Loyd Park on Joe Pool Lake has a public dump station, and many Love's Travel Stops along I-35 do too. Pro tip: ask your host for a bag of sewer essentials (gloves, hose, fittings) so you are not improvising at the dump station.
tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/cedar-hill/fees-facilities

What features and amenities come inside a typical RV rental in Richland Hills?

Even a modest motorhome rental in Richland Hills comes loaded. Expect a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink, cookware), a bathroom with toilet and shower, comfortable sleeping for 4 to 8 depending on the rig, roof air conditioning, a furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Most rentals include a TV, and many hosts offer Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor speakers, awnings, and onboard generators (great for tailgating at Texas Motor Speedway or boondocking near Possum Kingdom). Travel trailers and fifth wheels offer the same interior comforts minus the cab. Listings spell out exactly what is included, and the bigger Class A coaches often add washer/dryer combos and king beds. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count to match your group size before browsing.

What add-ons can I get, and how does pickup and drop-off work in Richland Hills?

Hosts in Richland Hills offer a long menu of add-ons that make your trip easier: linens and bedding packs ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, camping chairs, generators, bike racks, portable BBQs, and even pre-stocked firewood. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on and runs about $2 to $5 per mile. Pickup typically happens at the host's home or storage lot within 10 to 20 minutes of Richland Hills, where you will get a full walkthrough (usually 30 to 45 minutes) before driving off. Drop-off is the reverse: return with the same fuel level, tanks dumped (or pay a dump fee, usually $50 to $100), and you are done. Pro tip: book linens, you will thank yourself after a long day at Eagle Mountain Lake.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Richland%20Hills%2C%20Texas

How do payment and security deposits work for an RV rental in Richland Hills?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at booking with a credit or debit card, and your funds are held until your trip begins, so there is no cash or e-transfer with the host. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup and released after a smooth return, separate from your booking payment. To avoid any deposit issues for your Richland Hills RV rental, do a quick photo walkaround at pickup, return with the same fuel level, empty the tanks if your agreement calls for it, and message the host if anything unusual happens during the trip. Pro tip: clean up crumbs and wipe down counters before drop-off, a tidy return is the easiest way to get your full deposit back fast.

What are the most popular road trip destinations from Richland Hills?

Top picks include Broken Bow Lake, Oklahoma (215 miles, 3.5 hours) for pine forests and cabins; Austin and Hill Country (200 miles, 3 hours) for music, BBQ, and wineries; Hot Springs, Arkansas (320 miles, 5 hours) for natural spas and mountain views; Big Bend National Park (560 miles, 8.5 hours) for jaw-dropping desert and dark skies; and Galveston Island (320 miles, 5 hours) for Gulf Coast beaches.
