Our first time camping in a Travel Trailer/RV and what an awesome experience! The trailer was amazing and comfortable for hubby & I; equipped with essentials —more than expected. Ricardo delivered, set up and picked up as requested, even making an extra trip to deliver 2 items we requested. Our host Ricardo made this a perfect 1st experience by his friendly communications and patience with all my questions & changes. I hope to do business with him again next year! As you can see in our pictures, I was able to cook a full breakfast. The oven/stove, refrig/freeze were just the perfect size as well as the restroom; most of all cold blowing a/c😊. The awning provided great shade for hubby as he BBQ a few feet away from trailer. May God continue to bless you Ricardo🙏🏾

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Temple, TX

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Temple, TX?

Renting an RV in Temple, TX is one of the most affordable ways to explore Central Texas, with most travel trailers starting around $80 to $135 per night and motorhomes typically running $150 to $275 per night on RVezy. Because Temple sits near Belton Lake, Stillhouse Hollow Lake, and Fort Cavazos, you'll find a healthy mix of family-friendly trailers and Class C motorhomes that fit any budget. For a cheap RV rental Temple travelers love, book mid-week or during shoulder months like March or October when nightly rates often drop 15 to 25 percent. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and stationary delivery options to save time and skip pickup logistics entirely.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Temple, TX?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Temple, TX for almost every rig listed on RVezy. The Texas Department of Public Safety only requires a non-commercial Class B license for personal-use RVs over 26,000 pounds, and nearly every Class C motorhome, campervan, and travel trailer on the platform falls well under that limit. You'll need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID securely during checkout, so there's no trip to a DPS office and no CDL paperwork. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home license and you're road-ready for your Temple RV trip.

Is my RV rental in Temple covered if something goes wrong?

Yes, every RV rental in Temple, TX booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Interstate 35 with real peace of mind. You choose your protection level during checkout (not the host), letting you decide how much coverage you want for damage during your trip. While this isn't traditional auto insurance, it provides meaningful financial protection if a fender bender, hail storm, or flat tire happens on your way to Belton Lake. Pro tip: review the protection tiers before booking, then pick the one that matches your driving comfort and itinerary.

What happens if I need to cancel my Temple RV rental?

You have flexibility, because RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy for every booking, including a full money-back grace period right after you book. After that window, refund eligibility depends on how far out your trip start date is and on special circumstances like natural disasters, which matters in Central Texas where spring storms can pop up. That means a sudden change in plans doesn't have to mean losing your whole trip cost. Pro tip: book earlier rather than later for the best refund window, and contact RVezy support right away if severe weather affects your dates so they can walk you through your options.

Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental Temple families love is easy to find on RVezy. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter when searching and you'll see dozens of hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) with no fuss. Once you arrive, Temple is genuinely dog-friendly: leashed pups are welcome on the trails at Miller Springs Nature Area below Belton Dam, at Lions Park, and along the shorelines of Cedar Ridge Park and Live Oak Ridge Park on Belton Lake. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee (usually $25 to $75 per trip) and ask about pet beds or bowls some include free with the RV.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Temple?

Yes, RV delivery in Temple is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you're a first-time renter or just don't want to drive a big rig through downtown traffic. Many RVezy hosts will deliver and fully set up your motorhome or travel trailer at popular spots like Cedar Ridge Park, Live Oak Ridge Park, or a private park in Belton, then walk you through every system before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts who offer this service, with fees usually based on mileage from their location. Pro tip: book delivery to a Belton Lake campsite and your only job is to show up, unpack groceries, and start the campfire.

How far can I drive on a Temple RV rental, and how does mileage work?

You've got plenty of road ahead. Most RVezy hosts in Temple include a generous daily mileage allowance (often 100 to 150 free miles per day), and many offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer road trips. From Temple, popular drives include Austin (about 70 miles south on I-35), Waco and the Magnolia Market (about 35 miles north), San Antonio and the River Walk (around 150 miles south), Fredericksburg in Hill Country (roughly 120 miles southwest), and Dallas (about 130 miles north). For a longer RV road trip from Temple, Big Bend National Park is a doable 8-hour drive. Pro tip: filter listings by unlimited mileage if you're planning a multi-stop Texas loop.

Where are the best campgrounds near Temple, TX?

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping Temple has on offer. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers runs developed RV campgrounds on Belton Lake, including Cedar Ridge Park with hookup sites and a swim beach, Live Oak Ridge Park near Belton Dam with 50-amp sites, plus Westcliff Park and Iron Bridge Park. For full-hookup resort vibes, private RV parks along the I-35 frontage road in Belton and Temple offer pools and dog parks. Bird Creek RV Park sits right in Temple near the medical district. Pro tip: reserve Corps of Engineers sites on Recreation.gov up to 6 months ahead, especially for summer weekends.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Temple, TX?

Spring (March to May) and fall (late September through November) are the sweet spots for a Temple RV trip, with daytime highs typically in the 70s and low 80s and Texas Hill Country wildflowers (including bluebonnets in April) putting on a show. Summers in Temple are genuinely hot, with July and August averages near 96°F, so book early and pick an RV with strong air conditioning if you're traveling then. Winters are short and mild, with January highs around 59°F, meaning RVezy rentals here are available year-round, unlike colder northern markets. Pro tip: book a late-October trip for crisp mornings on Belton Lake and dramatically lower campground crowds.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Temple?

You'll be just fine, and first time renting an RV in Temple, TX is easier than most people expect. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, slide-outs, and tank management, so you're never left guessing. Temple's wide, flat layout and the I-35 corridor are forgiving for new drivers, and most beginners feel comfortable within the first 30 minutes. If you'd rather skip city driving entirely, choose a host that delivers directly to your campground. Pro tip: pick a Class C motorhome or a 20 to 25 foot travel trailer for your first rental, drive at moderate speeds, and use the Texas Farm-to-Market roads for a relaxed warm-up before highway miles.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirements

What happens if my RV breaks down during the trip?

You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat tire on Highway 36, a dead battery at Cedar Ridge Park, or a mechanical issue on the way to Waco, help is one phone call away. Roadside can dispatch towing, tire service, jump-starts, lockout help, and fuel delivery anywhere in Central Texas. Your host is also reachable through the RVezy app for any RV-specific questions like resetting the generator or troubleshooting the awning. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave the driveway so you're set if cell service gets spotty.

Can I take my Temple RV rental across state lines or into Mexico?

You can absolutely cross state lines on your Temple, TX RV trip; popular routes include heading west toward New Mexico (Carlsbad Caverns is roughly a 7 to 8 hour drive), south to the Texas Gulf Coast, or north into Oklahoma. Confirm with your host through the RVezy message thread that your itinerary works for their listing, since some hosts cap total miles. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because the protection plan and roadside assistance don't extend across that border. Pro tip: a classic loop from Temple is the Texas Hill Country triangle (Austin, Fredericksburg, San Antonio), all reachable within a 2.5-hour drive and easy to do in 4 to 6 days.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validity

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for, and how much does gas cost?

Plan smart and your fuel budget stays predictable. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, campervans 14 to 20 mpg, and trucks towing travel trailers around 9 to 13 mpg. Texas consistently has some of the cheapest gas in the country, with prices in the Temple area often 30 to 50 cents below the national average thanks to in-state refining. For a 4-day Hill Country loop of about 500 miles in a Class C, expect to spend roughly $200 to $275 on fuel. Pro tip: most RVezy motorhomes in Temple run on regular unleaded, and the Buc-ee's just down I-35 in Temple is famously the cheapest, cleanest fuel stop you'll find anywhere.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground near Temple?

For the best campgrounds near Temple, TX, lock in your campsite as soon as your RVezy booking is confirmed. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers parks on Belton Lake (Cedar Ridge, Live Oak Ridge, Westcliff, and White Flint) take reservations through Recreation.gov up to 6 months in advance, and summer weekends sell out fast, especially Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. Private parks like Gather Campground and Bird Creek RV Park book through their own websites and tend to have more last-minute openings. Pro tip: if your dates are sold out, use Recreation.gov's notification feature or check Tuesday mornings when cancellations are commonly released.
recreation.gov/camping/gateways/493

What are the driving conditions like around Temple?

Driving an RV around Temple is refreshingly easy, with mostly flat terrain, wide lanes, and a small-city pace that makes it perfect for first-timers. Interstate 35 runs straight through town and is your main artery north to Waco/Dallas and south to Austin/San Antonio; expect heavier traffic on weekday afternoons and during construction zones, which TxDOT has been actively expanding. Watch for sudden thunderstorms from April through October and occasional crosswinds on the open stretches between Temple and Belton. Winter ice events are rare but do happen one or two days a year. Pro tip: avoid I-35 through Austin between 3 and 7 p.m. by taking State Highway 130 (a toll road) for a faster, calmer detour in your motorhome rental Temple road trip.
txdot.gov/driver/road-conditions.html

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds around Temple?

You'll find solid amenities at most parks where to park an RV in Temple. The four Belton Lake Corps of Engineers campgrounds offer 30 and 50-amp electric, potable water at every site, water-borne restrooms with showers, and sanitary dump stations (Cedar Ridge has dumps on both ends of the park). Full sewer hookups are less common at Corps parks but standard at private resorts like Gather Campground and Belaire Junction in Temple. Most local parks include swim beaches, boat ramps, playgrounds, and laundry. Pro tip: top off your fresh water before leaving the campground and dump tanks on the way out, since Live Oak Ridge and Cedar Ridge both have dedicated dump stations that move quickly even on busy Sunday mornings.

What's actually included inside an RVezy rental in Temple?

You're getting a fully equipped home on wheels. Most campervan and motorhome rental Temple listings on RVezy come with comfortable beds (sleeping 2 to 8), a working kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control with air conditioning (essential for Texas summers), seatbelted seating for travel, and often a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and outdoor awning. Many hosts also include linens, towels, and basic camp chairs. Generator availability varies, so check the listing if you plan to boondock. Pro tip: message your host before booking to confirm Wi-Fi hotspot, solar setup, and any included add-ons; Texas summer trips are way more pleasant with a generator that can run AC during the day.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Temple%2C%20Texas

What add-ons can I get, and how do pickup and drop-off work?

Hosts make it easy to customize your family RV trip Temple style. Common add-ons include bedding and towel packages, camp chairs and tables, kitchen kits, propane refills, generator hours, bike racks, and kayak or paddleboard rentals (perfect for Belton Lake). Pickup is typically at the host's address in or near Temple, with a 30 to 60-minute orientation walkthrough, or you can choose delivery to your campground for an added fee. Drop-off mirrors pickup, usually with a returned-clean and refilled-fuel expectation. Pro tip: book your add-ons through the RVezy listing rather than buying separately at the store; bundled host pricing is often cheaper, and everything is already loaded when you arrive.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Temple%2C%20Texas

How does payment work, and what should I expect for the security deposit?

Payment is simple and secure on RVezy. You pay through the platform with a credit or debit card (never in cash to the host), and your total is split into clear line items: nightly rate, service fee, taxes, any delivery or add-on charges, and your chosen protection plan. A security deposit is authorized (held, not charged) on your card before the trip and released after a successful return with no damages; the amount is set by the host and shown at checkout. To avoid hold-back issues, do a video walk-around at pickup with your host, return the RV on time, refill fuel and propane per the listing, and dump tanks if required. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos of the interior, exterior, and odometer at pickup for a friction-free deposit refund.
