Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park, AB, Canada
Canmore Nordic Centre is located 105 km west of Calgary via the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1), approximately 1.5 hours drive time. From Calgary International Airport (YYC), it is roughly 120 km and 1.5 hours by vehicle. The Trans-Canada Highway is a well-maintained, divided highway suitable for RVs of standard length. Note that full-size RVs are not permitted to park at the Nordic Centre facility itself. Visitors driving RVs should note that a Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required for vehicle parking. Nearby towns including Canmore and Banff offer services and accommodation options for RV travelers.
July and August offer the best conditions for summer activities like mountain biking and hiking, with mild temperatures around 22 degrees Celsius and extended daylight. December through March provides excellent cross-country skiing with reliable snow cover, though winter travel requires appropriate vehicle preparation. May and June transition into warmer months but see increased precipitation, while September and October offer shoulder-season advantages with fewer crowds and comfortable autumn weather.

The park features over 100 km of mountain bike trails ranging from wide dirt roads to technical single-track options. A dedicated skills park with jumps, drops, and beginner features provides opportunities for riders of all abilities. Trail Sports at the Day Lodge offers bike rentals and instruction.
Winter visitors can access over 65 km of groomed and track-set cross-country ski trails accommodating both classic and skate skiing techniques. The trails were originally designed for the 1988 Winter Olympics and are maintained to high standards.
Scenic hiking trails accommodate visitors of varying fitness levels, with natural surface paths offering views of the surrounding Kananaskis area. Popular nearby routes include Georgetown Interpretive Trail and Grassi Lakes Trail with accessible trailheads.
An 18-hole disc golf course uses the park's natural terrain and scenic mountain backdrop. The course is free to use, with disc rentals available through Trail Sports at the Day Lodge.
A 6.5 km paved loop trail accommodates roller skiing for athletes of all abilities during summer months. The smooth paved surface provides an alternative to dirt and snow-based activities.
Orienteering courses are available through Trail Sports with four difficulty levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Maps are available for purchase, with course distances ranging from 2.5 to 6.7 km.
Host was accommodating and easy to deal with. Trailer was exceptionally clean and had everything you need. Loves this trailer and will definitely be renting again!
