Late spring through early fall is the most popular window, with May, June, and September offering mild temperatures and fewer bugs than midsummer. July and August bring the warmest lake swimming conditions but also the largest crowds on weekends, so reserving RV sites well ahead is wise. Shoulder months like April and October provide quieter camping, colorful foliage in fall, and generally open park roads, though nights can be cold and some services may be reduced.

Pinchot Lake is a 340-acre no-wake lake open to canoes, kayaks, sailboats, and electric or low-horsepower motorboats. A public boat launch and seasonal mooring areas are available near the campground. RV parking is available at the main launch lots.
The park operates a guarded sand swimming beach on Pinchot Lake during the summer season. The beach area includes restrooms, changing facilities, and nearby picnic pavilions. Large parking areas can accommodate RVs and trailers.
The Lakeside Trail is a multi-use path that skirts portions of Pinchot Lake with water views and shaded forest sections. It links several day-use areas and the campground, making it an easy walk or bike ride from RV sites. Terrain is mostly level with a few gentle climbs.
Gifford Pinchot State Park offers designated mountain biking routes through wooded and rolling terrain. Riders share some trails with hikers, so yield rules apply. Trailhead parking near the main day-use areas can fit tow vehicles and smaller RVs.
Pinchot Lake is stocked and managed for warmwater species including largemouth bass, sunfish, crappie, and channel catfish. Shoreline fishing is popular from multiple access points, and ice fishing is permitted when conditions allow. A Pennsylvania fishing license is required.
Multiple picnic areas with pavilions, grills, and open lawns are scattered around the lake. Several pavilions are reservable and sit close to parking lots that can handle RVs. The day-use areas are a popular base for family gatherings.
The park's mix of lake, wetlands, meadows, and forest attracts waterfowl, songbirds, raptors, and white-tailed deer. Spring and fall migrations bring added variety for birders. Quiet morning walks from the campground are a simple way to see wildlife.
Daniel was a fantastic host that came in the clutch for us when another host unexpectedly cancelled on us. The camper was exactly what was advertised, pricing was awesome, clean, and communication was on point! I would recommend Daniel and his camper to anyone looking to rent for their next adventure!

This RV was as advertised. It was setup at our campsite when we arrived at Camp Swatara. I would say Daniel is a great host.

Sandy went above and beyond. Leading up to the rental dates she was in communication, making sure we were on the same page. I opted for delivery rather than pickup, and she made sure the rv was delivered early so we could fully enjoy the rental dates. We had a normal issue w the AC (the unit froze) but she was very communicative and helpful until the problem was solved (she suggested to turn it to fan in case the unit was frozen, and it quickly thawed). Always very sweet and courteous, always responsive. My four year old son loved the trailer, was very upset to understand that we had to give it back 😂. Thanks, Sandy!

Sandy went out of her way to make sure my family was well accommodated during our use of her camper!

Gifford Pinchot State Park, PA, United States
The park sits in Warrington and Washington townships, about 15 miles north of York and 20 miles south of Harrisburg, each roughly a 30-minute drive. From I-83, most RVers exit near Newberrytown or Lewisberry and follow state routes to the park entrances; roads in the immediate area are rural, two-lane, and include some rolling grades, so slow down on blind curves. Harrisburg International Airport (MDT) is the closest major airport, about a 25-mile drive, making it a practical fly-and-rent option. There are no major tunnels or mountain passes on typical approaches, but trailer drivers should watch for low-clearance bridges on back roads.
