Best time to visit Grayton Beach State Park

April, May, and October are ideal for RV travel, offering warm Gulf water, lower humidity, and smaller crowds than peak summer. June through August brings hot, humid weather, afternoon thunderstorms, and the busiest campground demand, so reserve far in advance. Winter months stay mild and quiet, suiting snowbirds who tolerate cooler swim conditions. Shoulder seasons also reduce the chance of rip currents and beach flag restrictions.

How to get to Grayton Beach State Park

The park sits on County Road 30A in South Walton, about 30 minutes east of Destin and roughly 45 minutes west of Panama City Beach via US-98. Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, with Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) also nearby. RVers should note narrow beach-town streets, low-hanging live oak canopies along 30A, and seasonal traffic congestion; larger rigs are better routed via US-98 before turning south to the park entrance. No tunnels or mountain passes apply, but watch for height-restricted parking at some 30A beach accesses.
