Late June through August offers the warmest Lake Ontario water temperatures, full beach lifeguard coverage, and open campground loops, making it the prime window for RV travel. Early September brings smaller crowds, comfortable daytime temperatures, and easier campsite availability while amenities remain open. May and early June are good shoulder-season choices for birding at Yanty Creek Marsh but can be cool and breezy off the lake. Winter visits are day-use only as the campground closes for the season.

The park has multiple lifeguarded swimming beaches along Lake Ontario with fine sand and gradual entry. Facilities include bathhouses, picnic shelters, and nearby parking that accommodates vehicles towing trailers.
A short loop trail through forest and wetland habitat around Yanty Creek Marsh, a designated Important Bird Area. The flat, family-friendly path is ideal for birding and casual walks from the campground.
A paved multi-use path runs through the park connecting picnic areas, beach lots, and the campground. The route is flat and suitable for cycling, inline skating, or a long walk with lake views.
Anglers cast from the Lake Ontario shoreline for smallmouth bass, perch, and seasonal salmon and trout runs. A New York State freshwater fishing license is required for anyone 16 and older.
Several day-use picnic areas with pavilions, grills, and playgrounds are spread along the lakefront. Large paved lots make it easy to park a tow vehicle or smaller motorhome close to the facilities.
The marsh and adjacent woodlands attract migrating warblers, waterfowl, raptors, and shorebirds, especially in spring and fall. The park lies along the Lake Ontario flyway, a nationally recognized migration corridor.
In winter, park roads and trails are used for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing access. The campground is closed but day-use parking and restrooms remain available near the main entrance.

David was a pleasure to work with for a very new camper person. He was able to give detailed directions and checked I was able to complete tasks before leaving me with the camper and was available for questions at anytime. Smooth and pleasant to work with.

David’s camper rental gave us the much-needed space and amenities to make our family vacation comfortable and enjoyable. It was a pleasure renting from him. He is also in the process of upgrading many features of the camper. We would book with him again!

Hamlin Beach State Park, NY, United States
The park sits directly off the Lake Ontario State Parkway, roughly 25 miles west of downtown Rochester (about a 35 to 45 minute drive) and about 50 miles east of Buffalo via I-90 and Route 98 (roughly 75 to 90 minutes). RV drivers should note that the Lake Ontario State Parkway has low-clearance overpasses and is restricted to non-commercial vehicles, so tall rigs should verify clearance and consider approaching via Route 104 and Route 19 instead. There are no mountain passes or tunnels on typical approaches, but lake-effect snow squalls can appear in late fall and winter. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC), about 30 miles southeast.
