Best time to visit Kinney Point State Park

Late June through early September offers the driest, warmest weather on Marrowstone Island, with long daylight hours for paddling and shoreline exploration. July and August bring the calmest seas in Puget Sound but also peak demand at nearby RV campgrounds, so reservations should be made well in advance. May, June, and September are strong shoulder-season choices with fewer visitors, cooler nights, and still-reliable road access for RVs. Winter visits are possible but bring frequent rain, short days, and rougher water conditions that limit small-boat access.

We went on our first RV trip as a family and had a fantastic time. The host was communicative and the RV was clean and worked really well. We will for sure rent again.

This was our second year renting with Mark! He is great to deal with and quick to respond. The trailer is well stocked with cooking supplies, and dishes for 4 people. Bed is comfortable and trailer is clean. We camped as 2 adults and 1 dog and it was the perfect size. We did dry camping (no power hook ups) and loved that the trailer had solar power and ran on propane so we could use the stove & fridge/freezer and charge our devices (and heat for those chilly fall nights on the ocean). Would definitely rent again! He was also flexible on the pick up and drop off time which was great as I ran a bit later than planned on delivery day.

Great communication, everything on-time and as expected. Mark and his trailer are both lovely.

How to get to Kinney Point State Park

Marrowstone Island sits about 55 miles (roughly a 2-hour drive including a ferry) northwest of Seattle via WA-104 and the Hood Canal Bridge, or via the Edmonds to Kingston ferry. Port Townsend is the nearest town, about 20 minutes north of the island by road. RV drivers should note that Washington State Ferries have vehicle length and height limits and charge by size, so oversize rigs should reserve a ferry slot in advance; the Hood Canal Bridge is a straightforward all-weather alternative. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, roughly 3 hours away including ferry time.
