How to get to Oscar Scherer State Park

The park sits just off U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail) in Osprey, about 15 minutes south of Sarasota and 20 minutes north of Venice. From Tampa the drive is roughly 70 miles (about 1.5 hours) via I-75 south to exit 195 or 200, and from Fort Myers it is about 75 miles (1.5 hours) north on I-75. RVers should note that I-75 is the preferred route for large rigs, as U.S. 41 has more signals and lower-clearance signage in town. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is Sarasota Bradenton International (SRQ), about 20 miles north.
