How to get to Quetico Provincial Park

Quetico Provincial Park is located 45 km east of Atikokan and 211 km west of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Access to Dawson Trail Campground is via Highway 11 from Atikokan. Thunder Bay International Airport, the region's largest commercial airport, is approximately 211 km away via a 2.5-hour drive. Winter road conditions require extra caution due to snow and ice.

Best time to visit Quetico Provincial Park

August and early September offer ideal conditions for visiting, with warm weather, manageable insect activity, and accessible hiking trails. Mid-to-late September provides fall foliage, though temperatures drop considerably. June and July attract visitors but can present challenging mosquito and black fly activity. Winter camping and cross-country skiing are available from January to March on groomed trails.
