Late June through early September offers the warmest weather, swimmable lake temperatures, and full campground services. July and August are peak months, so reservations are strongly recommended for RV sites. May and September are quieter shoulder-season options with cooler nights and fewer crowds. Winter brings snow and ice fishing opportunities, though RV services are limited and many facilities are reduced.

Round Lake Trail is an easy two-mile loop that circles the lake through old-growth cedar, hemlock, and fir. The path is mostly flat and suitable for most hikers. Trailheads are accessible from the campground, with RV parking in the day-use area.
The park's sandy swim beach on the north shore is a central summer attraction. Shallow warm water and a roped swim area make it family friendly. Day-use parking nearby accommodates RVs.
Round Lake is open to canoes, kayaks, and small electric or low-horsepower motorboats. The calm, no-wake water is ideal for beginners and families. A boat launch is located near the day-use parking area.
The lake supports largemouth bass, perch, bluegill, and stocked trout. Shore fishing is accessible from the day-use area and parts of the loop trail. An Idaho fishing license is required.
The forested shoreline is a reliable spot for viewing white-tailed deer, osprey, and a variety of waterfowl. Early morning and dusk offer the best chances. Binoculars are useful from the day-use overlooks.
When snow conditions allow, the park's trails are used for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, and the lake is popular for ice fishing. Winter access is limited to day use, with some roads and facilities closed. RV travelers should plan for minimal services.
Seasonal ranger-led programs cover the park's glacial geology, cedar-hemlock forest ecology, and local wildlife. Programs are typically offered at the amphitheater during summer weekends. Check the visitor information board on arrival for the current schedule.
We could not have had a better experience with the Springdale! Mike was very thorough with the review of how the set up and how to use! The camper came equipped with everything we needed! We will definitely rent again! Thanks so much for making our weekend complete!

Round Lake State Park, ID, United States
The park sits just off U.S. Highway 95 about 10 miles south of Sandpoint and roughly 65 miles (about 1.5 hours) northeast of Coeur d'Alene. Spokane, Washington, is about 90 miles west, a drive of roughly two hours, and Spokane International Airport is the most practical fly-and-rent option. U.S. 95 is a paved two-lane highway with rolling grades and occasional winter ice and snow, so RV drivers should carry chains in cold months and watch for logging trucks. The park access road is short and paved, with no tunnels or steep mountain passes on the final approach.
