Campgrounds and RV parks near Creston, BC

The Creston Valley is known for orchards, wineries, and farm stands, and the flat valley floor is easy to explore by bike or car between campground stays. Birders visit the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area, a large wetland complex along the Kootenay River flats that draws waterfowl and raptors through spring and fall migration. On the water, Kootenay Lake sits a short drive north of town and offers boat launches, swimming beaches, and trout fishing. Locals fish for trout in the Moyie River near Yahk, and the river also supports paddling on calmer stretches. Hiking trails climb into the Selkirks and Purcells on both sides of the valley, and short interpretive walks near Creston work well for families with younger kids.

The main RV season in the Creston area runs from spring through early fall, when private parks are fully open and daytime temperatures are comfortable for outdoor activities. Cell service is reliable in the valley but drops off along mountain sections of Highway 3. Sites vary widely. In-town RV parks generally offer full hookups, laundry, and Wi-Fi, while Yahk Provincial Park has 26 vehicle-accessible campsites without hookups. Four of these (sites 3, 6, 15, 24) have sand-filled tent pads for tenters, water is limited to a few cold-water taps, and pit toilets are the norm. Black bears are active in the valley and on nearby forest roads, so food and garbage should be stored inside the RV or in provided lockers.
