Campgrounds and RV parks near Carleton, NB

Carleton sits in Kent County on the eastern shore of New Brunswick, minutes from the entrance to Kouchibouguac National Park. The park protects a stretch of the Maritime Plain with barrier islands, sand dunes, lagoons, salt marshes, and Acadian forest, and it anchors most RV trips in the area. Additional private and municipal grounds line the coast toward Escuminac and the Miramichi River. Inside the national park, RV travellers choose between South Kouchibouguac Campground, with 311 campsites and amenities including washrooms with showers, playgrounds and a dumping station, and the smaller Cote A Fabien Campground with 31 unserviced sites, dry toilets and hand pumps for water. South Kouchibouguac suits larger rigs needing services; Cote A Fabien suits self-contained vans and truck campers looking for quiet. Outside park boundaries, Escuminac Beach and Family Park, Parc Daigles Park, and Wishwood Resort give renters flexibility on nights when national park sites are full or when a shorter drive from the highway is preferred.

National park sites at South Kouchibouguac and Cote A Fabien are booked through the Parks Canada Reservation Service. Guests select the specific campsite when they make their reservation, and all front-country camping reservations made through the service are site-specific. Reserve online or by phone at 1-877-RESERVE (1-877-737-3783). Launch dates for the summer season are released each January, with Kouchibouguac typically opening in early February at 8 am Atlantic Time. Sometimes campgrounds are open longer than the reservable period; nights of the operating season outside the reservable window run first come, first served. Private grounds like Escuminac Beach and Family Park, Parc Daigles Park, and Wishwood Resort take direct bookings by phone or email; call ahead to confirm rig length and hookup type.
