Campgrounds and RV parks near Maugerville, NB

The Saint John River is the central attraction. Paddling, fishing, and boating are common from launches near Hartt Island RV Resort and along river frontage at River Run Resort & Grill. Fredericton itself is a short drive away and provides access to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the Historic Garrison District, farmers' markets, and a connected network of walking and cycling trails. At Mactaquac Provincial Park, families can use two freshwater beaches, a network of hiking trails including a beaver pond interpretive loop, an 18-hole championship golf course, and a treetop aerial adventure course. Hartt Island RV Resort adds an on-site waterpark and mini-golf that are popular with kids.

The main RV season in the Fredericton area runs from mid-May through September. Mactaquac Provincial Park operates its serviced campground by reservation between mid-May and September, with 401 sites and many offering power and water hookups. Private parks around Maugerville generally follow a similar mid-May to mid-October window, with Hartt Island RV Resort typically open from May through October. July and August are peak, with warm days, lower rainfall than the shoulder months, and the highest demand for riverside and hookup sites. Spring can be wet and cool, and the river runs high after snowmelt. Winter camping is available at Mactaquac but is un-serviced and requires wilderness-camping experience, so it is not suited to standard rental RVs. The park itself stays open year-round for day-use activities like skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking.

Private parks in the Maugerville and Fredericton area are geared toward RVs. Hartt Island RV Resort offers full-service sites with 50-amp and 30-amp power, water, sewer, a dump station, laundry, showers, Wi-Fi, and big-rig access. Mactaquac Provincial Park has tent sites, RV sites with power and water, and roofed rustic shelters. Expect cell coverage across most sites given the proximity to Fredericton. Mosquitoes and blackflies are active from late May into early July, especially near wetlands and pond areas. Leashed pets are welcome at Mactaquac and at most nearby private parks. Sites near the river can flood or stay soft in wet springs, so confirm site status before arrival if travelling in April or May.
