Campgrounds and RV parks near Newcastle, NB

Newcastle is part of the amalgamated city of Miramichi, on the north shore of New Brunswick where the Northwest and Southwest Miramichi Rivers meet the tidal estuary flowing into Miramichi Bay. The area works as a practical base for RV travellers exploring the Acadian coast, the salmon-famous Miramichi River valley, and Kouchibouguac National Park about 45 kilometres to the south. Options within a short drive range from full-hookup private parks close to town to riverside and coastal sites farther out. Close-in choices include Sunrise Campground and Miramichi Treehouse and Camping Adventures, while Les Champs D'olivier Camping, Ocean River RV Resort, and Malybel Park Camping offer access to river and coastal settings within the wider region. Most private parks near Newcastle run a late-May to early-October season and handle big rigs arriving via Route 8 and Route 11. Travellers heading to Kouchibouguac National Park should plan for Parks Canada's separate reservation system and different site standards from the private parks in and around town.

Private campgrounds around Newcastle, including Sunrise Campground, Miramichi Treehouse and Camping Adventures, Les Champs D'olivier Camping, Ocean River RV Resort, and Malybel Park Camping, are booked directly with each operator by phone or website. Most take reservations from spring opening through the season, with deposits often required for peak weekends. Kouchibouguac National Park uses the Parks Canada Reservation Service at reservation.pc.gc.ca or 1-877-737-3783. The park launches its full-season reservation window in early February at 8:00 a.m. Atlantic time, and July and August sites at South Kouchibouguac Campground go quickly. Firewood cannot be imported into the park due to brown spruce longhorn beetle risk, so plan to buy it at the campground kiosk.
