Campgrounds and RV parks near Prince William, NB

Kings Landing is the main attraction in the community. It is a living-history museum with heritage buildings that were rescued and moved to the site when the Mactaquac dam on the Saint John River was constructed, staffed by costumed interpreters portraying 19th-century rural life. The site is open from early June until mid-October and does not allow overnight camping or RV parking. Mactaquac Provincial Park adds an 18-hole championship golf course, freshwater beaches, treetop aerial adventures, a marina, and a network of hiking trails including the beaver pond nature reserve. River Run Resort & Grill and Woolastook Park sit on the water for swimming, paddling, and fishing on the St. John River. Fredericton, twenty minutes east, adds farmers' markets, riverside trails, and restaurants for a rainy-day plan.

The main camping season runs from mid-May through September. Mactaquac Campground offers RV and tent camping by reservation between mid-May and September each year, with the busiest weeks falling between Canada Day and Labour Day. Private campgrounds along Route 102 follow a similar pattern, with many transitioning to seasonal-only sites once school starts. June brings the opening of Kings Landing and reliable paddling conditions on the river. July and August are the hottest months and the tightest for reservations, especially at waterfront sites. September delivers cooler nights, thinner crowds, and fall colour along the Saint John River Valley, with Kings Landing staying open through mid-October. Mactaquac Provincial Park is open for all four seasons, making it one of the few New Brunswick parks that stays open year-round. Winter camping is available at rustic shelters and unserviced sites, and the park operates 2 groomed sliding hills, a pond and forest skating trail, and 7 km of groomed cross-country ski trails, plus snowshoe and fat-bike options.

Sites near Prince William range from full-hookup RV pads with 30-amp power, water, and sewer to unserviced tent spots in the trees. Mactaquac has around 400 campsites, many of which offer both power and water hookups, spread across multiple loops with both open and wooded options, plus rustic shelters and chalets for renters who want a roofed alternative. Private parks along Route 102 lean toward family-friendly layouts with playgrounds, laundry, and river access. Water quality varies at private parks, so travellers should confirm potable water at check-in and fill freshwater tanks before arrival if needed. Cell coverage is generally reliable along the Route 102 and Trans-Canada corridor. Leashed dogs are welcome at most campgrounds and on provincial-park trails.
