Campgrounds near Rexton, New Brunswick
Rexton sits on the Richibucto River in Kent County, on New Brunswick's eastern shore, a short drive south of Kouchibouguac National Park. It works well as an RV base for exploring the Acadian coastline, Northumberland Strait beaches, and the salt marshes and lagoons that define this stretch of the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
Options range from serviced private parks close to town to national park campgrounds inside Kouchibouguac. Wishwood Resort and Parc Daigles Park sit closest to Rexton, while South Kouchibouguac Campground and Cote A Fabien Campground are inside the national park itself. Bouctouche Baie Chalets Et Camping is south of Rexton, near the Bouctouche dune system.
South Kouchibouguac Campground is the main serviced base for RVs in the park, with washrooms, showers, and a dump station. Cote A Fabien Campground is smaller and unserviced, better suited to travellers who want quieter surroundings. Private parks in the Rexton area typically add hookups, laundry, and easier access to town services.
Things to do near Rexton
Kouchibouguac National Park is the main draw. Kellys Beach and the barrier-dune boardwalk lead to warm, shallow saltwater, and the park maintains roughly 60 kilometres of gentle cycling paths linking campgrounds, wharves, and lagoons. Seal-watching, kayaking, and interpretive programs run through the summer months.
The park is a designated Dark Sky Preserve, with stargazing programming typically running from June through September. Cycling is a strong option because paths connect directly from South Kouchibouguac Campground to Kellys Beach.
Outside the park, the Bouctouche Dune and the Pays de la Sagouine offer a half-day trip focused on Acadian culture. Rexton itself has small-town services, riverfront walking, and the Bonar Law Historic Site for a rainy-day stop.

The core RV season along this coast runs from late spring through mid-fall. July and August are peak months, when beach water in the Northumberland Strait warms enough for swimming and Kouchibouguac's interpretive programming is in full operation. Long weekends in the summer months are the busiest windows and fill earliest.
June and early September are quieter alternatives with mild weather and easier campsite availability. Fall colours peak in early to mid-October, and cycling and hiking remain excellent, though services begin winding down.
Winter closes most private campgrounds and the main Kouchibouguac campgrounds. The park stays accessible for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat-biking, with primitive winter camping options available. RV travellers targeting the shoulder season should confirm which services, dump stations, and washrooms remain operational before arriving, as opening and closing dates shift with weather and staffing.

How to book campgrounds near Rexton
Reservations for South Kouchibouguac Campground and Cote A Fabien Campground go through the Parks Canada Reservation Service, either online or by phone at 1-877-RESERVE. The booking window for Kouchibouguac typically opens in early to mid-January for the upcoming season, and July and August dates for serviced sites move quickly, so booking as early as possible is advised.
All front-country reservations at Kouchibouguac are site-specific, meaning the exact site is chosen at the time of booking. A valid national park entry pass is required in addition to the camping fee.
Private campgrounds such as Wishwood Resort, Parc Daigles Park, and Bouctouche Baie Chalets Et Camping book directly with the operator. Confirm rig-length limits, hookup type, and pet policies at the time of reservation.
What to expect at Rexton campgrounds
South Kouchibouguac Campground has 311 sites with washrooms, showers, a dump station, and playgrounds. Roughly two-thirds of sites are wooded. Wi-Fi reaches parts of the campground, mainly around open areas and kitchen shelters. Cote A Fabien Campground is smaller with 32 sites, is unserviced, and has only dry toilets and hand pumps for water, with no Wi-Fi.
Importing firewood into Kouchibouguac is prohibited because of the brown spruce longhorn beetle. Firewood is sold by the bundle at the campground kiosk. Generator use inside the park is limited to short periods between 10 am and 6 pm, and check-out is before 11 am.
Cell coverage is generally good near Rexton and along Route 11 but can be patchy in the wooded interior of the park. Bring bug protection for evenings in early summer, and expect cool overnight temperatures even in mid-summer near the coast.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Rexton, NB
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Rexton?
RV rental in Rexton is one of the most affordable ways to experience New Brunswick's Acadian Coast. On RVezy, travel trailers typically run about $90 to $160 CAD per night, Class C motorhomes range from $200 to $300, and larger Class A rigs sit between $250 and $400. Because Rexton sits next to Kouchibouguac National Park, weekend dates in July and August book up first, so reserving 3 to 4 months ahead helps secure the best pricing. Tip: target late June or the first two weeks of September for cheaper Rexton RV rental deals when the Gulf of St. Lawrence is still warm but mid-summer pricing eases.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rexton%2C%20New%20BrunswickDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Rexton?
Your regular Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's licence is all you need to rent an RV in Rexton. No commercial licence, air brake endorsement, or special RV training is required for the motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers listed on RVezy. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and ID verification happens right on the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from outside Canada? Bring your home country licence (an International Driving Permit is recommended if your licence is not in English or French) and you are ready to explore the Acadian Coastal Drive.

Every RV rental in Rexton booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out Route 117 toward Kouchibouguac National Park with peace of mind. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV, and at checkout you choose the coverage level that fits your trip, whether it is a weekend at Kellys Beach or a two-week loop along the Northumberland Strait. You select the coverage, not the host. It is not traditional auto insurance, but it provides meaningful financial protection that takes the stress out of first-time renting so you can focus on the seafood, sand dunes, and starry skies.

Booking an RV rental in Rexton is low-risk thanks to RVezy's standardized cancellation policy, which is set by RVezy and applies to every reservation on the platform. There is a grace period right after booking, and refund amounts then depend on how far out your trip is. If a host cancels, you receive a refund or travel credit. Review the full cancellation terms on RVezy's Help Center before you finalize, then book your Rexton RV trip with confidence.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Rexton RV rental?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rentals in Rexton are easy to find on RVezy: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter to see motorhomes and trailers from hosts who welcome four-legged co-pilots. Once on the road, Kouchibouguac National Park allows leashed dogs on most trails and in both South Kouchibouguac and Cote-a-Fabien campgrounds. Dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than 3 metres and are not permitted on supervised swimming beaches. Tip: pack a long lead and a beach towel so your pup can cool off in the warm shallow lagoons after exploring the salt marshes.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/nb/kouchibouguac/visit/animaux-petsCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Rexton?
Yes, RV delivery is one of the most popular options for Rexton trips on RVezy, especially for first-timers who would rather skip driving a larger rig down Highway 11. Many local hosts will deliver and set up your motorhome or travel trailer directly at South Kouchibouguac Campground, Cote-a-Fabien, or nearby private parks, then walk you through the awning, slide-outs, propane, water, and dump valves. Use the Delivery filter when searching, then message the host to confirm the campsite and dates. It turns your Rexton RV trip into a turnkey vacation: you arrive, they hand you the keys, and you are roasting marshmallows by sunset.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/nb/kouchibouguac/activ/campingHow far can I drive on a typical Rexton RV rental?
You have plenty of range to explore from Rexton. Most hosts include 100 to 200 km per night in their base price, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is great for an RV road trip from Rexton. Each listing shows its mileage policy clearly, and extra kilometres typically run $0.30 to $0.50 each if you go over. For perspective, Moncton is about 90 km south, Shediac and Parlee Beach are around 70 km away, Miramichi is roughly 70 km north, and the Confederation Bridge to PEI is about 140 km. A week-long Maritime loop fits comfortably within most allowances.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rexton%2C%20New%20BrunswickWhere are the best campgrounds near Rexton for RV camping?
You are spoiled for choice. South Kouchibouguac is the headliner inside Kouchibouguac National Park, with serviced and unserviced sites, hot showers, a dump station, and bike paths leading to Kellys Beach. Cote-a-Fabien is the quieter, unserviced option inside the park, great for self-contained rigs. Just outside the park, private options in Saint-Louis-de-Kent and around Rexton offer full hookups and family vibes. For oceanfront RV camping near Rexton, parks along the Northumberland Strait toward Pointe-Sapin are a great pick. Book Kouchibouguac sites when Parks Canada reservations open in mid-January, the prime July weekends vanish fast.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/nb/kouchibouguac/activ/campingWhen is the best time for an RV trip from Rexton?
Late June through early September is the sweet spot for a Rexton RV trip, when daytime highs typically sit in the low to mid 20s C and the Gulf of St. Lawrence near Kellys Beach warms up enough for swimming, some of the warmest saltwater north of the Carolinas. July and August are peak season with the busiest beaches and festivals, while June offers fewer crowds and blooming salt marshes. September brings warm days, cool nights, and stunning fall colours later in the month. Insider tip: aim for a new moon date and head to Kouchibouguac's Dark Sky Preserve for incredible Milky Way views.
climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/index_e.htmlI have never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving around Rexton?
You will be just fine: Rexton is one of the easier places in Canada for first time renting an RV. Highway 11 is a wide, flat, low-traffic divided highway, and Route 134 along the coast has minimal hills and gentle curves. Your host will give you a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, parking, hookups, and dump procedures, and you can message them anytime during your trip. RVezy support and 24/7 roadside assistance are also a tap away. Start with a smaller Class C or campervan rental in Rexton if you are nervous, take the short 15 minute hop to Kouchibouguac first, and you will feel like a pro by sunset.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360003359693-RentersWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my Rexton trip?
You are covered. Every RV rental in Rexton booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Route 117, a dead battery at Cote-a-Fabien, or a tow off the shoulder of Highway 11 is one phone call away. The RVezy support team is also reachable before, during, and after your trip if anything else comes up. Your host is your second lifeline: they know their RV inside and out and can usually troubleshoot small issues by phone. Save both numbers in your contacts at pickup and enjoy the Acadian coast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trip routes from Rexton?
An RV road trip from Rexton opens up the entire Maritimes. The Acadian Coastal Drive (Route 11/134) takes you north through Miramichi to the Acadian Peninsula in about 2 hours. South, you can hit Shediac (lobster capital, about 1 hour), Moncton and Magnetic Hill (about 1.25 hours), and cross the 12.9 km Confederation Bridge to Prince Edward Island in roughly 2 hours. Cape Breton's Cabot Trail is a stunning longer drive east, and Fundy National Park with the world's highest tides is about 2.5 hours south. Cross-border US travel may be allowed with host approval, so message hosts directly to confirm before booking an international itinerary.
tourismnewbrunswick.ca/places-to-go/scenic-drives/acadian-coastal-driveWhat should I budget for fuel on a Rexton RV trip?
Fuel is one of the biggest variables, so plan ahead. New Brunswick gas prices are regulated weekly by the Energy and Utilities Board and typically sit around $1.55 to $1.75 CAD per litre, with diesel often higher. A Class C motorhome averages about 18 to 22 L/100 km, a campervan 12 to 15, and a larger Class A can hit 28 to 32. For a typical 500 km loop (Rexton to Moncton to Shediac to PEI and back), budget roughly $150 to $250 in fuel for a mid-size motorhome. Tip: fill up in Rexton or Bouctouche before heading into the park, fuel options inside Kouchibouguac are very limited.
www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/departments/eub.htmlHow far in advance should I book a campground near Rexton?
Earlier is better, especially for Kouchibouguac National Park. Parks Canada opens reservations for the upcoming season in mid-January through the Parks Canada Reservation Service (reservation.pc.gc.ca), and prime July and August weekends at South Kouchibouguac sell out quickly. For shoulder season trips in June or September, you can often book 2 to 4 weeks out. Private campgrounds around Rexton are typically more flexible, with 2 to 6 weeks ahead usually enough. Insider tip: if you miss out, check back daily, cancellations open new sites regularly, and the South Kouchibouguac full-hookup loop turns over more than you would expect.
reservation.pc.gc.ca/What are the driving conditions like around Rexton?
Driving conditions around Rexton are easy for an RV. Highway 11 is the main north-south artery, a flat divided highway with wide shoulders and gentle curves, perfect for a first motorhome rental in Rexton. Route 134 along the coast is a quiet two-lane with light traffic. Watch for moose and deer at dawn and dusk, especially north of Rexton toward Miramichi, the one real local hazard. In summer, fog can roll in off the Northumberland Strait, so reduce speed in the early morning. Winter brings snow and ice, but most Rexton RV rentals run May through October when conditions are ideal. Check 511 New Brunswick for live road updates.
511.gnb.ca/en/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Rexton?
Campgrounds near Rexton offer a solid range. South Kouchibouguac has serviced sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups on many loops, plus hot showers, flush toilets, a dump station, potable water taps, playgrounds, and laundry. Cote-a-Fabien is dry camping only, with hand pumps and pit toilets, ideal for self-contained rigs. Private parks nearby add full 30/50 amp service, pools, and stronger Wi-Fi. The South Kouchibouguac dump station is available to registered campers, and fresh water is available at communal taps. Bring a 25 to 30 foot fresh-water hose and a basic sewer kit, your host will confirm what is already in the RV.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/nb/kouchibouguac/activ/campingWhat is included inside a typical Rexton RV rental?
Most RVs you will rent in Rexton come trip-ready. Expect a full kitchen with fridge, stove, sink, and basic cookware; a bathroom with toilet and shower in Class B, C, A, and most trailers; sleeping for 2 to 8 depending on the rig; and furnace, air conditioning, and propane already filled. Many hosts include linens, towels, and a starter kit of paper goods, plus seatbelts for everyone riding while driving. Wi-Fi is not standard, but cell service is generally solid in the Rexton area. Generators are common on Class C motorhomes, which is handy for boondocking at Cote-a-Fabien. Each listing spells out exactly what is included, so you will know before you book.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360003359693-RentersWhat add-ons and extras can I get with a Rexton RV rental?
Hosts in Rexton offer a great menu of add-ons to customize your trip. Common options include delivery and setup (often priced per km from the host's location), bedding and towel packages, camp chairs and outdoor tables, generators (often included on Class C), portable BBQs, bike racks, and even kayaks or paddleboards, perfect for the Kouchibouguac lagoons. Pickup and dropoff are typically at the host's location with a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough. Mileage and generator policies vary by listing, so check the details, and feel free to message the host to bundle extras into a package that fits your trip.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rexton%2C%20New%20BrunswickHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card when you book, not directly to the host. The rental total is charged through RVezy, and a refundable security deposit (amount set per listing) is pre-authorized closer to your trip start, separate from the booking payment. If you return the RV in the same condition you received it, the hold is released after the trip. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkthrough at pickup with your host, take time-stamped photos and a quick video of the interior and exterior, and follow the host's instructions on fuel, propane, and the holding tanks for your Rexton RV trip.
