Campgrounds near Liverpool, Nova Scotia
Liverpool sits on the South Shore of Nova Scotia at the mouth of the Mersey River, roughly midway between Halifax and Yarmouth on Highway 103. It works well as a base for RV travellers because two provincial parks with campgrounds, Thomas Raddall Provincial Park and Rissers Beach Provincial Park, are within a short drive, and the Kejimkujik Seaside adjunct sits just across Port Joli Harbour with two coastal hiking trails.
The closest options to town are Fishermans Cove RV and Campground and Bear Falls Wilderness Campground, both private operations that accommodate RV rigs. South of Liverpool near Port Joli, Thomas Raddall Provincial Park spans roughly 1,600 acres of forest and beach, with sandy, secluded beaches along Port Joli Harbour. North toward Petite Rivière, Rissers Beach Provincial Park sits about 24 km south of Bridgewater on the Atlantic Coast in Green Bay, with a long sheltered sandy beach and two separate campground loops.
For travellers heading further down the coast, Lockeport Campground and Cottages offers another beach-adjacent option about an hour southwest of Liverpool.
Things to do near Liverpool
The main draw is the coastline. Popular beaches in the area include Beach Meadows, Summerville, Carters, White Point, and the beaches inside Thomas Raddall Provincial Park and the Kejimkujik Seaside adjunct. Seals are frequently spotted hauled out on offshore rocks, and short walks lead to quiet white-sand coves such as St. Catherines River Beach.
Hiking is centred on the two Kejimkujik Seaside trails and the network inside Thomas Raddall, which runs from pebbled shoreline to aspen forest around inland lakes and marshes. Rissers Beach adds a boardwalk over an inland salt marsh and short interpretive loops.
In Liverpool itself, the walkable downtown includes the historic Astor Theatre, several small museums, and cafes along the Mersey River, which suits a rest day between beach outings.

The camping season on the South Shore is short. Both Rissers Beach and Thomas Raddall typically operate from mid-May through mid-October, with Rissers Beach running from May 15 to October 12 in the current season. July and August are the busiest weeks, when the Rissers Beach day-use area is supervised and coastal fog usually burns off by mid-morning.
Shoulder months bring quieter sites but cooler nights and more variable weather. Spring can be foggy and damp along the coast, while September and early October often produce warm, clear days with fewer bugs and stronger colour inland toward Kejimkujik.
Winter closes the provincial-park campgrounds entirely, and most services at Kejimkujik shut down from November until the Victoria Day long weekend in May. Winter RV visitors need to plan around private campgrounds or off-park stays. Late-summer and early-fall trips should also watch tropical-storm forecasts, since post-tropical systems occasionally track up the Atlantic coast and have caused significant damage to Rissers Beach in recent years.
How to book campsites near Liverpool
Nova Scotia's provincial parks, including Thomas Raddall and Rissers Beach, use a single provincial reservation system. Bookings can be made online at parks.novascotia.ca or by calling the provincial reservation line. For the 2026 season, online reservations for all Nova Scotia provincial park campgrounds opened on a single date, April 8, rather than being staggered by region as in some past years. Popular July and August weekends at Thomas Raddall and Rissers Beach tend to book within the first days of the launch.
Provincial sites are mostly unserviced. At Rissers Beach, the North Rissers loop includes sites with water and electrical service alongside partially wooded and walk-in unserviced sites, while the Little Rissers loop is wooded and fully unserviced.
Private campgrounds such as Fishermans Cove RV and Campground, Bear Falls Wilderness Campground, and Lockeport Campground and Cottages take direct bookings by phone or through their own websites and generally hold more hookup sites, which suits larger RVs.
What to expect on the ground
Sites in the provincial parks are wooded and private but do not have sewer hookups, and many have no electrical service. Little Rissers offers pit toilets and potable drinking water, with a shared dump station available in the park. Plan on filling fresh water and dumping between stays.
Cell coverage is inconsistent along the coast, particularly inside Thomas Raddall and the Kejimkujik Seaside adjunct. Downloading maps and reservation details before leaving Liverpool is wise. Black flies and mosquitoes peak in June, while salt breezes on beach loops usually keep the coast more comfortable than inland forest sites.
Ocean water stays cold even in August. Families typically pair short swim time with tidepool exploration, and the supervised beach at Rissers is a reliable choice for younger kids during peak summer weeks.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Liverpool?
RV rental in Liverpool is one of the more affordable ways to explore Nova Scotia's South Shore. On RVezy, travel trailers in the Liverpool area typically start around $90 to $150 CAD per night, while Class C motorhomes and campervans usually range from $175 to $275 CAD per night, depending on size and season. To find a cheap RV rental in Liverpool, book mid-week, travel in June or September (shoulder season), and look at travel trailers if a host offers delivery so you can skip towing. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and price range, then message a host about multi-night discounts for stays of 5+ nights.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Liverpool%2C%20Nova%20ScotiaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Liverpool?
Good news: a regular Class 5 Nova Scotia driver's license (or its equivalent from anywhere in Canada, the US, or abroad) is all you need to rent an RV in Liverpool. No special RV license, air-brake endorsement, or commercial license is required for the motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers listed on RVezy. Approved renters on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified inside the booking flow, so there is nothing extra to print or mail. Visiting from overseas? Pick up an International Driving Permit from your home auto association before you fly, pair it with your home license, and you are road-ready for your Liverpool RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental insurance and roadside assistance included when I rent an RV in Liverpool?
Yes, every RVezy booking in Liverpool includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Highway 103 with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most accidental damage to the RV, and you choose your coverage level during checkout, which means you can match it to your comfort level. If you get a flat near Kejimkujik or a dead battery at Summerville Beach, one phone call dispatches help to your location. Just pick your protection tier at booking and you are covered before you turn the key.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Liverpool RV rental?
Booking is low risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every Liverpool RV rental, not the individual host. There is a full money-back grace period right after you book, and after that window your refund depends on how far out your trip is. If a host needs to cancel, RVezy refunds you or provides credits so you can rebook. For full details, review the cancellation policy on the RVezy Help Center before booking so you know exactly where you stand.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Liverpool RV trip?
Absolutely, and Liverpool is a fantastic spot for it. Plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Liverpool, so just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you will see motorhomes and travel trailers that welcome your dog. Once you are on the road, take your pup to Beach Meadows Beach, the trails at Fort Point Lighthouse Park, or the lakeshore paths near Caledonia. Kejimkujik National Park also allows leashed pets on most trails and at Jeremy's Bay Campground. Pro tip: message the host before booking to mention your dog's size, and ask if they provide a tie-out or floor mat to keep cleanup easy.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/ns/kejimkujik/visit/animaux-petsCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Liverpool?
Yes, RV delivery in Liverpool is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who would rather skip driving a motorhome down Highway 103. Many local hosts will deliver the RV directly to Hunts Point area campgrounds, Thomas Raddall Provincial Park, or Jeremy's Bay Campground inside Kejimkujik (about a 70 km drive inland). The host will level the rig, hook up power and water, walk you through every system, and pick it up at the end of your stay. Filter by Delivery on RVezy, then message the host with your campground name and dates to confirm the delivery fee, which is usually based on distance.
parks.novascotia.ca/park/thomas-raddallHow far can I drive on an RV rental from Liverpool?
You can cover a lot of Nova Scotia from Liverpool because most hosts include a daily mileage allowance, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage if you ask. Common day-trip distances from Liverpool: Lunenburg is about 65 km (45 minutes), Halifax is 155 km (about 2 hours via Highway 103), Kejimkujik National Park inland is 70 km (1 hour), Peggy's Cove is around 130 km, and the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton is roughly 450 km if you are planning a multi-day Nova Scotia RV trip. Check each listing's mileage policy on the listing page, and if you are planning long days, message the host to negotiate extra kilometres up front.
novascotia.com/plan-your-trip/getting-around-nova-scotia/What are the best campgrounds near Liverpool for RV camping?
RV camping in Liverpool puts you within minutes of some of Nova Scotia's most loved campgrounds. Fisherman's Cove RV & Campground in Hunts Point has 61 sites with full hookups (including 30 and 50 amp pull-throughs), an above-ground pool, and ocean access. Thomas Raddall Provincial Park near Port Joli offers serviced and unserviced wooded sites just steps from white-sand beaches. Jeremy's Bay Campground inside Kejimkujik National Park has 360 sites (some with power) and is Nova Scotia's only Dark-Sky Preserve campground. The Islands Provincial Park in nearby Shelburne is another solid choice. Pro tip: book provincial and national park sites the moment reservations open in the spring, they fill fast for July and August.
parks.novascotia.ca/park/thomas-raddallWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Liverpool?
The sweet spot for RV camping in Liverpool is late June through mid-September, when daytime highs sit between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius and the ocean is finally warm enough for a swim at Carter's Beach. July and August are peak season with the busiest beaches and the warmest weather, but September is the local insider's pick: fewer crowds, comfortable 18 to 22 degree days, and quieter trails at Kejimkujik Seaside. Fall foliage at inland Kejimkujik usually peaks in early to mid-October. May and early June can be cool and foggy (10 to 15 degrees) but campgrounds are wide open and rentals are cheaper. Book your RV by early spring for July dates.
climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/results_1981_2010_e.html?stnID=6354&autofwd=1I have never rented an RV before. Will I actually know what I am doing?
You will be in great shape, even if it is your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host in Liverpool gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery, walking you through propane, water, the generator, slide-outs, the toilet system, and how to hook up at a campground. Most walkthroughs run 30 to 45 minutes, and hosts encourage you to ask anything. You will also have the host's phone number for the whole trip, plus RVezy's 24/7 support team. For your first Nova Scotia RV trip, choose a small Class C or travel trailer (under 25 feet) and book a hookup site so you can practice in an easy setting before heading deeper into Kejimkujik.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002438454-For-RentersWhat happens if my RV breaks down during my trip in Nova Scotia?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Highway 103, a dead battery at Summerville Beach, or a lockout at Jeremy's Bay Campground is just one phone call away from being handled. The roadside team coordinates tow trucks, tire service, fuel delivery, and lockout help, including the more remote stretches around Kejimkujik. Your host is usually only a text away too, since they know their RV inside and out. Save the RVezy support number and the host's number in your phone before you leave Liverpool, and you will have backup at every turn.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take a Liverpool RV rental on a road trip across the rest of Atlantic Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Liverpool through Atlantic Canada is one of the best ways to see the region. Most Liverpool hosts allow travel anywhere in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island, with the Confederation Bridge to PEI about 4 hours away and Cape Breton's Cabot Trail roughly 5 to 6 hours northeast. Crossing into the US may be allowed depending on the host's insurance, so confirm in a message before booking if that is your plan. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Popular routes from Liverpool include the South Shore loop to Halifax, the Evangeline Trail to Annapolis Royal, and the Cabot Trail circuit on Cape Breton.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much will fuel cost for my Liverpool RV trip?
Fuel is easier to budget than you would think. Gas prices in Liverpool typically run around $1.55 to $1.75 CAD per litre, and Nova Scotia's regulated weekly pricing means no nasty surprises mid-trip. A Class C motorhome averages about 18 to 22 litres per 100 km, a campervan around 13 to 16 L/100 km, and a travel trailer towed by a half-ton truck about 18 to 25 L/100 km. For a typical 4-day South Shore loop covering 500 km, plan on roughly $150 to $225 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Liverpool or Bridgewater before heading inland to Kejimkujik, gas stations along Highway 8 are sparse.
nsuarb.novascotia.ca/petroleum-pricingHow far ahead do I need to book a campground near Liverpool?
Earlier is better, especially for July and August. Nova Scotia provincial park campgrounds like Thomas Raddall and The Islands open reservations through the Parks Nova Scotia reservation system (parks.novascotia.ca) on a rolling basis each spring, and prime weekend sites can be gone within hours. Kejimkujik's Jeremy's Bay Campground opens for booking through Parks Canada in mid-January and books up fast for summer. For private parks like Fisherman's Cove RV & Campground in Hunts Point, aim for 2 to 3 months ahead in summer; shoulder-season trips in May, June, or September are usually easy to grab a week out. Pro tip: book your RV first on RVezy, then your campground.
parks.novascotia.ca/reservationsWhat is it like driving an RV around Liverpool and the South Shore?
Driving an RV in and around Liverpool is genuinely relaxed compared to most North American destinations. Highway 103 from Halifax is a wide highway with gentle curves and minimal traffic outside long weekends. Inside Liverpool, streets are quiet and parking is easy at trailheads like Fort Point Lighthouse Park. The road that catches first-timers is Highway 8 north to Kejimkujik, which is narrow with frequent wildlife crossings (deer at dawn and dusk are common), so slow down. Fog can roll in along the coast in May and June. Pro tip: avoid driving the South Shore at sunset, that is prime deer and moose activity.
novascotia.ca/tran/publications/driverguide.aspWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Liverpool?
Campgrounds near Liverpool are well-equipped for a comfortable RV stay. Private parks like Fisherman's Cove RV & Campground offer 30 and 50 amp electrical, water, and sewer hookups, flush toilets, hot showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Thomas Raddall Provincial Park has serviced sites with electric and water, a centrally located dump station, potable water fill, and modern washrooms with showers. Jeremy's Bay in Kejimkujik has some power sites, dump and fill stations, fire pits with firewood for sale ($10 a bundle), and a playground. Pro tip: top up water and dump at the Irving station in Liverpool on the way home if you're returning a rental that requires empty tanks, the host will thank you.
parks.novascotia.ca/park/thomas-raddallWhat is actually inside a typical Liverpool RV rental?
More than most first-timers expect. A typical motorhome rental in Liverpool comes with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette and sofa beds (sleeping 4 to 7 total), a full kitchen with fridge/freezer, propane stove, microwave, and sink, plus a bathroom with toilet and shower. Most rentals include a roof AC, furnace, awning, outdoor camp chairs, and a generator or solar setup for off-grid nights. Travel trailers and fifth wheels have similar interiors minus the cab seatbelts. Many Liverpool hosts also throw in linens, kitchenware, and a starter propane tank. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities section carefully and message the host to confirm anything you need is included.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Liverpool%2C%20Nova%20ScotiaWhat add-ons and pickup options should I look at when I rent an RV in Liverpool?
There are some genuinely useful extras when you rent an RV in Liverpool. Common add-ons include kayak or bike racks (great for paddling the Mersey River or the lakes inside Kejimkujik), camp chairs and outdoor mats, BBQs, generators for off-grid stays at Kejimkujik Seaside, linen and kitchen packages, and pet cleaning fees. For pickup, most hosts meet you at their home in or near Liverpool, but many offer delivery to Fisherman's Cove, Thomas Raddall, or Jeremy's Bay. Mileage policies vary, typically 150 to 250 km per night included with extra kilometres at $0.25 to $0.45 each. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen pack so you arrive to a fully made-up RV.
novascotia.com/plan-your-trip/getting-around-nova-scotia/How does payment and the security deposit work for a Liverpool RV rental?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy with a credit card, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A portion is charged when you book to confirm the trip, with the balance billed before pickup. A security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 CAD depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card a few days before your trip, not actually charged, and released after the host confirms the RV is returned clean and undamaged. To avoid any holds on your deposit, do a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff, return with the fuel and propane at the same levels, and empty the tanks if the listing requires it. Easy peace of mind for your Liverpool RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Liverpool during the winter or shoulder season?
Yes, and shoulder season is a hidden gem for an RV rental in Nova Scotia. Some Liverpool hosts list four-season motorhomes with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces, perfect for crisp October foliage trips into Kejimkujik or quiet November coastal getaways. True winter rentals (December to March) are rarer because most campgrounds close, but a handful of hosts allow stationary winter stays with shore power on a private property. Liverpool winters average -1 to -6 degrees Celsius with occasional snow. Pro tip: if you want a fall trip, book a rental with a furnace and aim for the first two weeks of October when Keji's hardwoods peak, you'll have trails almost to yourself.
