Campgrounds and RV parks near Adjala-Tosorontio, ON

Earl Rowe Provincial Park anchors most trips. The park has swimming beaches, an outdoor pool, a boat launch, canoe and paddle boat rentals, a fish ladder, and a network of trails ranging from short loops to longer routes. Fishing for salmon and trout is popular on the Boyne River and Earl Rowe Lake, with salmon viewing in fall and trout in spring. Mono Cliffs Provincial Park offers day-use hiking along the Niagara Escarpment, including the Spillway Trail through a narrow canyon and the Cliff-Top Side Trail past tall cliffs. The Bruce Trail passes through the park. On the Nottawasaga River, Nicolston Dam supports canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and river fishing on-site, with an outdoor pool, mini-golf, and playgrounds for kids. Nearby Alliston and Cookstown add restaurants, groceries, and the Tanger Outlet Mall for weather backup days.

Camping in this part of Ontario is a warm-season activity. Earl Rowe Provincial Park operates its Riverside Campground from May through October, while the Westside Campground is open only during peak season from roughly June through September. Nicolston Dam runs a comparable season, with pre and post-season windows in May and September on either side of a summer peak. July and August are the busiest months. Weekends, and especially long weekends around Victoria Day, Canada Day, the August civic holiday, and Labour Day, tend to book out well in advance. Mid-week stays in June and September are much easier to secure and align with cooler nights and lower bug pressure. Mono Cliffs is open year-round for day use, including snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter, but the surrounding campgrounds close for the cold season. Fall colour along the Nottawasaga and the escarpment typically peaks in early to mid-October, overlapping with the final camping weekends before Earl Rowe closes for the year.

Earl Rowe accommodates RVs up to about 32 feet, or 9.7 metres, with longer rigs advised to call ahead. Electrical sites are concentrated in the Heydon Way loop in Riverside and the Fletcher's Field loop in Westside; other loops are non-electrical and better suited to smaller rigs and tents. Comfort stations with showers, laundry, water taps, two trailer sanitation stations, and a park store are on-site. Nicolston Dam offers powered sites, water, and Wi-Fi, plus a heated pool, playgrounds, a dog area, and a small store. Sites are grassy and many back onto the river. Bring bug spray in June, and expect cool nights well into early summer. Cell service is generally reliable across the township. Quiet hours are enforced at both public and private campgrounds in the area.
