Campgrounds and RV parks near Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, ON

Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is a rural township on the eastern shore of Lake Huron in Huron County, Ontario, north of Goderich. The area combines lakefront bluffs, sandy beaches, and river valleys along the Maitland and Nine Mile Rivers, making it a practical base for RV travellers touring Ontario's West Coast. The closest full-service option is Point Farms Provincial Park, set on a bluff overlooking Lake Huron. Point Farms offers car camping in two campgrounds, Colborne and Huron, with Colborne open May to October and able to accommodate all equipment types. Many Colborne sites offer electrical hook-up, and amenities such as water taps, comfort stations, laundry facilities, playground, playing field and trails are close by. The Huron Campground is open May to October, is radio-free, and offers camping to users with tents to mid-size trailers. Private options in the surrounding countryside include Auburn Riverside Retreat along the Maitland River, Shelter Valley Campground, Conestoga Family Campgrounds, and The Old Homestead Trailer Park. Goderich, roughly fifteen minutes south, is the nearest hub for groceries, fuel, propane, and RV supplies, and it anchors the Goderich-to-Guelph rail trail used by cyclists and hikers staying in the township.

Point Farms Provincial Park is reserved through the Ontario Parks system. Reservations are accepted up to five months in advance of the arrival date; for example, you can book January 15 for an arrival date of June 15. Car campgrounds and most popular backcountry parks open their reservation window at 7 a.m. ET, five months in advance of the start date, so summer weekends should be targeted at the five-month mark, since electrical sites at Colborne Campground turn over quickly. Private parks such as Auburn Riverside Retreat, Shelter Valley Campground, Conestoga Family Campgrounds, and The Old Homestead Trailer Park handle bookings directly through their own offices or websites. Seasonal sites at these parks are often committed before the season opens, so short-stay renters should call ahead.
