Camping near Front of Yonge, Ontario
Front of Yonge is a township in Leeds and Grenville County on the St. Lawrence River, sitting inside the Thousand Islands region between Kingston and Brockville. It hosts the Thousand Islands National Park Visitor Centre at Mallorytown Landing, along with Brown's Bay Beach, the Jones Creek trail system, and access to the 1000 Islands Waterfront Trail.
The landscape reflects the Frontenac Arch, a southern extension of the Canadian Shield, so RV travellers see exposed granite, mixed forest, and long river views rather than flat farmland. Highway 401 Exit 675 at Mallorytown is the main access point, which keeps drive times short from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Syracuse.
Campground options range from full-hookup RV resorts along County Road 2 and the 1000 Islands Parkway to provincial and state park sites on both sides of the river. 1000 Islands / Mallorytown KOA Holiday and Pleasure Park Campground and RV Resort sit within the township itself, while Charleston Lake Provincial Park, Kring Point State Park, and Cedar Island State Park are within a short drive or boat ride.
Things to do around Front of Yonge
Water activity drives most trips. The St. Lawrence River supports powerboating, kayaking, and fishing for bass, pike, and lake trout, and boat tours out of Rockport and Gananoque run past Boldt Castle and the Thousand Islands. Brown's Bay Beach offers a supervised swim area close to Mallorytown Landing.
On land, the Jones Creek trail network and the paved 1000 Islands Waterfront Trail are the local go-to for hiking and cycling. Day trips reach Charleston Lake Provincial Park for sandy swimming beaches, extensive hiking trails, and paddling on clear Canadian Shield waters.
Families staying at 1000 Islands / Mallorytown KOA Holiday and Pleasure Park Campground and RV Resort get pools, playgrounds, and organized activities on site, which helps on rain days or when kids need a break from the road.

Cedar Island is boat-access only, tent camping with basic amenities, no RVs or hookups.
Cell coverage along the 401 corridor and the Parkway is generally good; Charleston Lake does not offer public Wi-Fi and cellular service may be limited. Black flies and mosquitoes peak in late May and June, so pack repellent.
