Bass Lake Provincial Park's car camping consists of four different campgrounds: Lakeview, Eastside, Cedar, and Hilltop. The park offers a mix of electrical and non-electrical sites, sandy beach access and a seasonal park store. Private parks in the surrounding townships include Heidi's Campground and Oro Campground along the Highway 11 corridor between Barrie and Orillia, and Hammock Harbor Resort on Lake Couchiching at the Narrows.
Mara Provincial Park is located near Orillia, Ontario, on the eastern shore of Lake Simcoe. It adds a second Ontario Parks option about twenty minutes from Marchmont, with 105 campsites, 36 of which have electrical service, and its own sandy beach.
Things to do near Marchmont - Bass Lake
Swimming and paddling dominate the summer schedule. Bass Lake has a groomed sandy beach with shallow, warm water, and during the summer, the park store offers rentals of canoes, kayaks, and stand-up paddleboards on a first-come basis. Mara Provincial Park offers a second sand beach on Lake Simcoe with a sandy beach with gently sloping, shallow water suited to younger kids.
Hiking is low-key: a short trail network at Bass Lake includes a barrier-free segment, and the Oro-Medonte Rail Trail runs east-west along the north shore of Lake Simcoe. Boaters can launch at Bass Lake or connect to the Trent-Severn Waterway from Hammock Harbor Resort at the Narrows.
Off-site, Casino Rama, Burl's Creek Event Grounds, Sainte-Marie among the Hurons and Wye Marsh are all within about a thirty-minute drive, and Orillia's restaurants and groceries are a few minutes away.

The camping season in this part of Ontario is short and clearly defined. Bass Lake Provincial Park's camping season runs roughly early May to mid-October, while Mara is only open for camping from the first week of May until early September, one of the shortest seasons in the system. During the winter months, access to Bass Lake is available by walk-in only, and pets must be leashed at all times, including during the off-season.
Private parks stretch the shoulder seasons a little further. Heidi's Campground and Hammock Harbor Resort typically operate from May through mid- to late October, with seasonal, weekend and overnight sites available.
July and August are peak. Weekend sites at both Ontario Parks fill quickly, particularly waterfront and electrical sites. September brings cooler nights, thinner crowds and reliable trail conditions. Late-season visitors should confirm which comfort stations and park stores are still open, since the Bass Lake park store is open from the last weekend in June until Labour Day.

This was such an amazing experience. J.D had everything set-up before we arrived. The space was clean. Bonus was Marvel bedding which my son's loved. Would absolutely rent again.

We used it for our family reunion. It was excellent, we were comfortable, everything we needed was there. We loved it.

As first-time RVers, we booked Tim and Jay’s Thor Motor Coach specifically to experience RV living, and they made the entire process seamless from start to finish. Right from the offset, Tim provided a thorough walkthrough and walkthrough brief so we felt confident before hitting the road. The RV was fully equipped with all the essentials, down to the small details like extra napkins and supplies, which saved us so much hassle. Even when we ran into a quick issue mid-trip and had to reach out, Jay responded with top-tier customer service and resolved everything smoothly and patiently. They genuinely cared about our experience and went above and beyond for us. If you’re looking for a reliable, fully stocked RV with incredible hosts, look no further. Highly recommended!
