Campgrounds and RV parks near Morris-Turnberry, ON

The main draw is the Lake Huron shoreline, roughly a half-hour drive west. Goderich has a long sand beach, a boardwalk, and a compact historic downtown built around an octagonal square. Bayfield, further south, offers a heritage main street and a harbour. Point Farms Provincial Park adds trails along the bluff above Lake Huron, plus swimming and sunset viewing from the beach below. Inland, the Maitland River corridor is used for paddling and fishing when water levels allow, and cycling routes cross Huron County on quiet rural roads. Falls Reserve Conservation Area and the Menesetung Bridge trail near Goderich are options for shorter family walks close to campgrounds.

The camping season in this part of Ontario runs roughly from May through October. Point Farms Provincial Park operates two campgrounds, Colborne and Huron, both open May to October, with group sites available from approximately mid-June to early September. Most private parks in the area follow a similar window, closing over the winter when overnight temperatures drop well below freezing. July and August are the busiest months, with warm lake temperatures, long daylight, and the highest demand for beachfront and lakeside sites. Weekends around Canada Day and the August civic holiday book out earliest. Late June and early September are quieter and generally offer better site selection at similar weather. Shoulder-season trips in May and October are viable for self-contained RVs, but expect cool nights, changeable weather off Lake Huron, and reduced services at some parks. When Point Farms itself is closed to camping, the day-use gates remain closed but trails can still be accessed with parking near the gate.

Expect a rural, agricultural landscape: crop fields, woodlots, small villages, and the winding Maitland River. Roads into most campgrounds are paved county highways followed by short gravel access lanes, so large Class A rigs generally do fine, but confirming site length and hookup type at booking is wise. Hookup availability varies. Point Farms offers many electrical sites but no full hookups, while private parks in the area more commonly offer water, electric, and sometimes sewer. Cell coverage is generally reliable near the highways and weaker in river valleys. Lake Huron sunsets are the standout local experience, and bug pressure from mosquitoes and blackflies is highest in late spring and early summer near wooded and riverside sites, so screens and repellent are worth packing.
